What's your favorite heritage railway/old timey train ride in the world?
Its almost meme tier but its one of our oldest and best patronised. If your a hard core /n/ it may not be for you though. We have a few others but none to this scale I'm aware of.

How about the West Coast Wilderness Railway in Tasmania?
They have the world's coziest commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYEfzopALrw
Took the train (3rd class) from Nampula to the middle of nowhere where the track runs out. That was pretty wild.

Looks good but does not have the level of access of the above. Puffing Billy is right next to a city with a metro train from the city available to within about 100 metres of its entrance.

I heard there's a good one in North India.
The lead engineer who designed it fucked up the tunnel, then committed suicide.
this is epic, first suspended monorail ever
build 100 years ago and still functional
even with some original carriages

Is it the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway?
This one. It goes trough mountains not far from where I live. I never ride it though yet. Such a shame

>live at the base of the dandenongs
>never been on puffing billy
Is it really worth it? I love driving around that area but have never had the urge to go on Puffing Billy. Always seemed super touristy
