It really is the most important thing: there's a lot of shitty places in India that you shouldn't go to, but at the same time there are amazing areas that you should see at least once.

India is awesome in that it is so very diverse (source: lived there for six years with my girlfriend and still regularily goes there).

Just pick your destinations wisely; you should probably ask people on the Internet for help, you're bound to find someone that knows what they're talking about.

Cultural Shit: There are a so many different places to go, different people to meet, the history of India is really interesting, it's a great story IMO. You should have some great photography options.

Actual Shit: This isn't just a meme, there's shit everywhere. Hygiene in general isn't very good. I used to not pay much attention to such things but after I got really sick in the Philippines my attitude changed. Even if you are careful sometimes illness is just unavoidable.
