Afaik, you can be sued (not that it would even get that far, but who knows) for selling fics, as you're making profit off of characters you do not own. I'm sure it's heaps more technical than just that but the reality is that you're using certain parts of copyrighted material to make money. Only not really. While they're similar, art is a much harder medium to grasp than writing. It's just a fact. To get better at art, it takes years to get up to a level that a wide amount of people consider good. Writing is something that's based on practice as well, only unlike art, it's much simpler to grasp the concepts of what makes a story good. Art has many different facets that involve making a piece really stand out. Writing does too, but it's not on the same level as art.
In a way, it's comparing apples to oranges, only one is 10x harder to grow than the other.

You can't generalize something like art or writing. It's not the same as making something palpable. I see this as something where you have to judge each and every person that sells something like this whether or not you'd be willing to give him money for it. Someone could be the best writer/artist in his field, if you're not interested in the type of shit he's making, you still wouldn't give him money.

A big part of this is preference. Even someone with mediocre or decent art can awake something in at least one person or make them feel something simply because it's on the same wavelength. This isn't something you can quantify, so someone may feel the need to help out that creator financially, even a little bit, for making them feel that way.

That being said an artist still needs to have some fundamental basics, experience and/or talent. In writing you need all that to judge how to best tell the story to keep the reader intrigued, and I feel the guy in question that we're talking about that wants to open a patreon doesn't have that

So, I have this idea for a fic and I want to know if that would sound interesting:

AU fic in whcih Luna did not turn into a rocker, cause she did not go to that concert.
She still became interested in music, but more classical and original creations on an instrumental level. She is also pretty much the nice girl from the show, but also with a bit firmer personality added to it, making her the second most responsible in the family next to Lori.

She still is actually friends with rockers at school (on the basis that it is still music) and the idea would be, that she ends up on a party with some of them. When being tricked into playing truth or dare, she ends up making a dare that ends with Sam kissing her.
Based on that the story would be about her realizing she has feelings for the girl that has completely different taste than her.

The thing is how well-off the family is seems to change between episodes. He finally chooses to drop the bombshell that Lily is actually Leni's daughter, who everyone up until now has pretended to embrace as the newest Loud sister to spare the embarrassment of Leni being tricked by some random Chad into playing "Doctor". The episode is a continuation of the "Potty Mouth" one, where paperwork problems arise with getting Lily into Daycare as Rita is not listed as the official legal guardian. Leni ends up having to get a job to help pay for Lily's stay there, going through several jobs in the process, constantly messing up. Her being fired is then a running-gag in many episodes to come.
