Weaver's prose style has a lot, a LOT of internal rumination and introspection, like the protagonist is telling and embellishing a recollection to a rapt audience and providing plenty of personal commentary and observations along the way above and beyond what the story requires.

Most fanfic writers go for a fairly lean and functional style, with a lot more dialogue and short fragments like just "he said" and "They left the apartment together". It reads more like an outline that hasn't been fleshed out. Also, pacing-wise, Weaver tends to move between a few setpiece locations and scenes with quick transitions, rather than follow Remmy through his every movement or provide long stretches of time summary. If you're describing a lot of uninteresting incidental movement then you need to skip a bit instead, and if you're skimming lightly over days or weeks you need to pick one representative flashpoint and slow down.

No but yeah, Weaver's voice is really distinct. But that goes for nearly every writer in existence. I think complete imitation is impossible if the project means something to you, because then you're going to subconsciously project some part of you into the story whether that be in the dialogue or the plot or the narration.

It's why Zootopia's style and humour so weird to imitate. There are SEVEN writers that have story credits and even though most of it is Byron, Rich and Jared, that's still three people's minds put together that you have to match up to.

I really dig the candid, introspective but still outspoken style Weaver writes his characters and world with because it can really layer in depth and catch you off guard when it gets feelsy but alas, I cannot be the antelope himself.

Just my two cents. I've thought a lot about this so there's definitely a lot of things I'm missing

Another TT is closing in.
Another frustrating failure to get any ideas to work.
I used to be able to turn out a short story with each edition and now it's been months since I've been able to get anything written.
Ideas come to me, outlines get put together, but when it comes down to the read work the words just stumble and fall apart until it's just a cluttered mess that I don't want to deal with anymore.
I can't start a single project without getting frustrated and angry at it and myself.
I feel like I've lost my knack and it'll never return, and I don't know what's worse about it; knowing that I have so many unrealized ideas that I can never express anymore, or the fact that when people ask me if I have anything new coming soon I just assure them I'm working on it, rather than give them the blunt truth that I'm washed up and may never do anything new again.

Each time I site down to write I just feel more and more disappointment in myself for being a failure and all I can think of is just walking away from the community to avoid my shame, but the thought of it just leaves me hollow.

I think I might be finally done.

I think one of the most obvious things that gives away another writer as Not Weaver when they try to write a Pack Street story is that Weaver really does have a judo grip on each character and their particulars, which you just can't get from a surface reading.

Like, Avo and Betty for example. They're both fairly gruff, acidic and sarcastic to varying degrees, so for another writer it can be hard to make them distinct in the way that Weaver can.

Ruin was a great parody for showing the different caricatures people tend to make of each character, but that's just the nature of trying to imitate someone else's work - you're only ever playing catchup. Good writing is something that takes on a life of its own such that the writer can feel more like a vessel for how the story naturally unfolds itself, but normally only the original creator has that kind of connection to the source.

You write those words, so you still are capable of writing. You find that everything doesn't come together, you have the pieces but lack the glue, right?
Then there are still ways to go. Giving up is NOT one of them.
First thing, ask for help with someone that knows something on how to write. For example, Comic, he is always helpful.
Second, read more. Read works by other authors, but don't use them as a comparative scale with you. Just read and learn, like a student learning a new subject. Be inspired.
Third: start again, but small. Don't go immediately in a big epic. Start with small works, 1000 words or less. Do greens. Create something under tight restrictions (e.g. you can only talk in third person, the work is about a specific event, etc.). If you can't can't go big right again, you should start again but small. Retrace the beaten path, give it form and use it as solid foundation for your latter work. When someone return to the gym after a period of injury they must start at a much smaller load than before, for muscles have to be trained again.

I didn't feel able to write or play guitar due to a very long depressive episode for over a month.
All the advice I can give is that the stuff you make when you're first getting back on the saddle is going to be garbage. Look at it critically when it's finished, then toss it overboard and keep going full steam ahead. You will eventually get somewhere, artistically, that you can be proud of.
I know what it's like to disappoint. My favorite professor in my favorite class in college called me on his phone the days I didn't show up to class, and generally I was just at home moping or drunk or something else. It hurts them and it hurts you. Whatever you do, don't take it as the end. It's a signal to change.
I've never made any idea work. I've just spewed enough onto the page to reach wordcount. Open up the ol' processor and shut out hacks like me.

It's almost scary how alike we are. Some says I start convincing myself that just deleting my accounts and vanishing would be the way to go. They probably still are, in all honesty. While depression certainly is something I've been familiar with in the past, I do have to be honest that outside my current issues with writing, my personal life outside the threads is actually at it's most stable than it's even been in a long time.
I have a job I'm content with, coworkers I like, money isn't as tight as it used to be.
It's my creative side that seems to be the dark spot.
Maybe depression is something that can be partitioned like that, I don't know.

Deleting everything is not the way to go. There are people that like what you do, because they don't know that you are feeling bad, so they simply can't do the reviews to make you feel good. They are merely expressing their ideas on your work.
You think you have written shit? Maybe (but likely not), and many people will still not see it like that. How many times did I think that I have drawn (and written) nothing but shit? Too many. I still can't believe that there are people looking forward to some of my works. Did I feel the need to delete them? Yes. Did I do that? Nope. Why? Because even the mightiest roads and foundations are still founded on gravel. This are the things I did, and deleting them would would be only lying to myself. You need to find the courage to look back in order to look forward.
Also I was seriously thinking of doing a comic (not right now, maybe in the following months), and I would seriously hate if some potential writer would have disappeared from the list of candidates because of a round of depression.
Take this in mind: there would be more people upset if you delete your work than if you keep it. A lot more.

I can't sleep. The sound of Ozzy's bass keeps filtering down from the room above, jolting me awake with its high pitched noise. If only there was some way to block out the noise, but instead I decide to stretch my paws for a bit and go for a walk.

It's still dark out when I hit the streets, most mammals already asleep as the night wears on. I don't have anywhere in particular in mind, but my feet end up taking me to Pandora's Box - still open, unsurprisingly.

I can see Pandora herself behind the counter, and she waves to me as I pass. "Up late, my dear woolly bully?" she asks with a toothy grin. "Perhaps looking for another night-time purchase?"

"Nah, not this time Pan," I say with a shrug. "Just can't sleep."

"Well if you see your little partner in crime Charles about, let her know I have another job in mind for her."

"I'll keep my eyes open, but nobody's seen that fox in days." Not one red hair.

As if on queue, our attentions are grabbed by the squeal of tires. We both turn and see Al's car blazing down the road toward us, Charles once again at the wheel. I bail out of the way just in time only for the much larger fox to suddenly leap from the car and crash-land on top of me, my thick fur cushioning the impact. Al's car rolls wildly to a stop before exploding.

"Are you insane?" I scream in her face.

The fox merely winks. "Make frequent attempts."

One day I'm gonna get out of this ghetto, and I'm gonna have my own sodastream, straight from Sheeprael. Fuck the boycott, that's holy sheep land that's belonged to us for thousands of years. Not that I really think of myself as a practicing sheep, last time I was at one of our midnight masses the elders were mumbling something about "the pred problem" and "howlers" but I don't really go in for politics.

This is really well done, especially considering that you haven't drawn in four years.
The paws/hands seem more than alright, if I have to nitpick (but it is really splitting hairs), be careful with the edge of her right thumb articulation (a little too pointy), increase just a little bit the width of the finger next to it and restrict a little the size of her middle left finger. But this is really going to the millimeter-size correction, this drawing is fantastic.
I especially like the volume you give to the figure and the folds of her clothes. It shows you have drawn for a long time.
