I feel like, in that case, people would probably look down on Jack just as they do on Judy. They think that a bunny can't do a job normally handled by mega fauna, so they would look at Jack and think "He had help, no way he could do any of that on his own" or something like that. Yet, in most stories, Jack is treated as if he could kill anyone in the room by himself. I see most of us share a common pattern here! I wholeheartedly agree with all of these, except maybe for the Nighthowler plot.
I've encountered a couple of fics where this element was handled nicely and in an original and not glaringly obvious manner, and they felt more like a respectful homage to the movie rather than a cheap cookie-cutter plot device for lack of inspiration. My problem is that I actually can find the throwback dialogue to the movie endearing. The problem is something that I found hitting me hard on JiD, where there were quite obvious "LOL GET IT? I SAW THE MOVIE TOO!!" even if it was shoved in and made the dialogue wonky. Same with stuff like "it's been a hustle, sweetheart" from the Nick died of old age comic.

Sometimes it goes fucking full retard like pic related. Only rarely I see the writer making a clever use of repeating the movie dialogue, either by having the context changed or by making it actually make sense on the situation. The worst I've seen was people suddenly throwing a whole conversation of Judy and Nick again on the fic.

Thank God for that, people write Tundratown as this mobster paradise when we saw it wasn't quite like that when Judy went in, Rainforest as a completely abandoned rain forest, barely if ever use Sahara Square, and any of the unreleased ones as edgy. Hell, even canned ones like Happytown get used for edge.
