So do you guys actually like the series itself? Like the stories, the comedy? Or is it strictly a waifu thing? Because I tried to get into this when it first came out and I just couldn't. The first few episodes were meh, and then the table one cringed me out. Recently tried again, but found it as meh.

Well, the only kid-oriented cartoon I watch at the time is Steven Universe. That means being in hiatus hell 99% of the time. I usually watch something like Archer, Bojack Horseman or Rick and Morty on the side, but all of that is between seasons at the moment, so I really want something to get into. Probably going to watch Star vs FoE when that starts Season 3 too.

If you didn't like the first half of the first season then it's probably not for you. The rest of us, or at least some that have been here for a long time love the show for everything it is.
We obviously don't think it's the best cartoon ever, but we love the general feel it has. For us the first season is simply great, especially the first half; not only it's fun and has good humor but also has plenty of "waifu moments", a perfect balance of both.

Some were pretty bummed out, while so-so the first couple of episodes, Grant really did a great job and he will always be remembered as a Lincoln. Not just that but the new kid, Collin, is quite inexperienced. For many episodes his voice always sounded so monotone and his lines had no range in their feel. He's getting better though

If you're talking about Brawl in the Family, that episode was written incredibly retarded. That's the only episode where Lincoln appears as retarded as you're saying. Literally all the other writers have never written Lincoln like that, not to mention there were some things that really didn't make any sense, even for a slice of life cartoon: Lincoln now knowing about the protocol when EVERYBODY else did, the sisters breaking their own rule of not butting in after Lincoln moved Leni to Luna's room.
Even the episodes before and after that one showed Lincoln as a capable brother, Baby Steps and Back in Black.

So no, that's not the exception, what YOU are talking about is the exception because in only one writer's, out of all the rest, episodes Lincoln appears to be a complete dumbass

I didn't say "retarded". I said "autistic". There's a difference. For instance the episode where he wanted to make a viral video and put a bunch of embarrassing shit about his sisters online. Or the grown-up table episode, where instead of simply asking to go back to the kiddy table for fear of not being taken seriously, he acts like a 3 year old and completely assassinates his reputation as a responsible person anyway. Or the beach/amusement park episode: it's perfectly understandable that he doesn't want to choose, but by letting both sides of the argument pamper him, he's essentially collecting ill will with 5 of his sisters regardless of what he chooses because they would end up pampering him for nothing. Those are very simple things to understand.
