Largely depends on species, but going into heat is pretty much universal of species becoming of breeding age/puberty. It's been mentioned in past threads, but there are species that don't hit that mark until they are 20 or even older. Then you have the opposite where the species can start popping out babies within a year old or less. Probably need to balance that out for some species. Anyways, more general/fetishy ideas

The thing is, even if realistic, if it has too human eyes, as well as nostrils too "humanly" positioned with regards to the mouth, etc. ..it will look uncanny.
The solution is (and this can still be done realistically) to change it up a bit, drawing it more as an exotic species; bigger/different eyes, less visible white sclera (which is a huge factor), different and more bestial muzzle perhaps.. and so on.

Even anime artists know that if you draw photorealistic-style human eyes on something, the whole drawing has to be photorealistic (and fully human), or else our mind gets confused and rejects it as something uncanny.

Hybrids would be an interesting discussion: the more "humanity" you add, the higher the risk of it looking uncanny.
(Then again, maybe the things we think looks uncanny can be gotten used to, especially if it's your child?)

The way I'd do it is to have anthros be more animalistic then you generally see in this thread.
Purebred anthros would generally have multi-breast, digitigrade legs and snouts while hybrids would have 2 breasts, plantigrade legs and flatter faces.
