A: Heather snaps and kills Hat
B: Hat beats the shit out of Heather or kills her
C: Surprise rescue from Walt 2.0: Extra Boogaloo
D: A cop finally does their job (unlikely)
>>
>>9546210

I know you're reading this Aaron.

We know what will happen:

He walks up to her
She schisms, we get a page or two of her schisming and going berserk on the wolves and then they're gonna turn up dead.

Am I right?

This comic is getting awfully predictable for something trying to be "new"
>>
>>9546850
I don't think that's going to happen, actually. I think Heather's heading for a courtroom, charges of murder, and a schismed crazy person would probably be useless for that kind of plotline.
>>
>>9547024
>useless for that kind of plotline.

Like Portia? :^)
>>
>>9546842
Similar/other options from the last thread:
http://desuarchive.org/trash/thread/9448679/#9539904
>>
>>9547048
Portia wasn't useless! She established the wolf harassment and had sex with Walt, effectively removing him from the overall narrative before he could get more involved.
>>
>>9546850
>>9547024
Come to think of it, the only schism-esque stuff for Heather has been the shadows on the wall, which were kind of like Jim's "raccoon ghosts" scene. Otherwise she's seemed to have no issues with being a horse and her main mental problem seems to be a growing trauma-based wolf-phobia. Meanwhile Portia, in some of the only characterisation she's gotten (and building off her previous body-issues stuff) did seem to have schism problems.
>>
>>9547713
So will she be hijacked by Eye during her anxiety attack rather than suffer Schism Syndrome? Can he just hijack anyone who has a mental break, no matter what the break actually is?
>>
>>9547805
That's an interesting question. What has Aaron said about that kind of thing?

It also prompts the question "Can someone recover from Eye possession?"

Didn't Aaron mention that Jim's body was being torn apart under the strain of being puppeteered by Eye, hence things like the "Glasgow Grin" and his ability to rotate his head 180 degrees?
>>

>>9547884
I assume if Eye takes control of someone that's it for them, much like old school demon possessions where the bodies just can't take the presence of the malevolent force so it just gradually breaks down. I doubt there's any way to expel Eye before the damage becomes too great, unless of course Marx somehow manages it through bullshit. I'll guess baptism by Oracle pool for maximum symbolism.

Unfortunately for Aaron I tend to cheer on for Eye than condemn it so even if Eye hijacks Heather to fuck up some wolves it's just going to push the 'justified smiting spiteful god' angle that Eye has been sitting at since the days of Jimgod.
>>
>>9547805
>>9547884
A further thought occurs: As time goes on post-mutation, the probability of any given individual schisming approaches zero due to adjustment to circumstances. However, as the story goes on, the probability of any arc having a new Eye manifestation approaches one. So most likely Eye can "grab" people who are having problems besides schisming.

>>9548532
Yes, I got that impression too. I wonder if there is any way non-Marx characters can expel Eye without completely destroying the victim's body, anyway?

I also wonder... if someone hasn't gone completely insane (Jim was a "fresh" mutant and therefore hit schism pretty damn hard) is it possible for Eye to merely influence them rather than taking over? Heather's nightmare visions of wolves seem pretty real to her... could they be coming from something other than her own imagination?

>Unfortunately for Aaron I tend to cheer on for Eye than condemn it so even if Eye hijacks Heather to fuck up some wolves it's just going to push the 'justified smiting spiteful god' angle that Eye has been sitting at since the days of Jimgod.
We'll have to see where the whole Eye thing goes next. You know, I've noticed that people seem more willing to talk and speculate about Eye than Marx - seems the audience prefers Aaron's Sauron to his Tom Bombadil.

>I've noticed that people seem more willing to talk and speculate about Eye than Marx - seems the audience prefers Aaron's Sauron to his Tom Bombadil.

Differences in framing and presence or intrusion to the storyline. Marx cancerously interjects himself in like a showy flamboyant ass, pretty perfect who has all the answers and can solve all the problems the main characters face. He doesn't typically stand as an obstacle and his interventions trivialize the danger everyone was in, completely ruining the mood of the setting while simultaneously removing actual character danger or struggle in the process. He also supposedly is a person in some right, just endlessly Quirky© in a setting that is depressing and dangerous.

Eye fits the setting as some ambiguous threatening presence who intervenes ONCE, to hijack a Schisming Jim and proceed to wreck Unity, menace Wally, and terrify Holly and Chic. Eye weirdly fits into the setting and doesn't overstay its welcome, yet the actions it does aside from trying to kill Chic can be seen having higher purposes if it truly is a god. Holly as we see after Unity is pretty much an awful person who kills herself metaphorically over her baby that she can't let go, Wally is willing to move on from Holly so quickly and let her kill herself instead of being more proactive (the same mistake he made with the teacher he had such a hangup about way back when) and everyone in Unity is baby eating murderers. He uses Jim's body like a puppet to destroy Unity from the ground up, smashing the nursery to killing the attendant lizards, to immolating the whole nest of them inside the boxing arena in hellfire.

Though if you consider he killed the nursery attendants that raises a huge question of how the fuck he can manage killing people three times his own size but not overpower Holly to kill her or Chic inside the walls. Doesn't add up unless he never intended to kill them in the first place in my opinion.
>>
>>9549056
A rather good analysis.

>Though if you consider he killed the nursery attendants that raises a huge question of how the fuck he can manage killing people three times his own size but not overpower Holly to kill her or Chic inside the walls. Doesn't add up unless he never intended to kill them in the first place in my opinion.
So you think someone else killed the nursery attendants and pinned it on the raccoon? I always thought it just spoke to Holly's fortitude, presence of mind and actual honest-to-goodness capability when someone else was in danger - unlike the lizards she was quick enough to act that she didn't get caught flat-footed, and she even gagged him with her apron quick as a wink before he could distract her with any more poison words.
>>
>>>/co/92727941
For anyone interested, though it seems nobody cares about /co/ threads anymore.
>>
>>9549290
>So you think someone else killed the nursery attendants and pinned it on the raccoon?
That or Jimgod had no intention of really using all its strength on killing Holly and Chic and only did so to scare the shit out of them for reasons I can't begin to understand.

But for theories in case that's true I found the focus on the Queen lizard as particularly strange as a narrative focus and could see her going full nuclear over her son Chic being sentenced to death by her husband, so she decided to kill all the babies to spite him and everyone else for their fucked up philosophy. There's no actual evidence for this but it's an interesting progression that works in some of the things we saw built up inside the narrative before the Schism happened.

That's pretty much it though. I won't deny Holly seemed more prepared so maybe Jimgod did get the drop on the attendants easy peasy. We don't really know what happened, only what was inferred from the sequence since we were too busy watching Kirbee, Holly, and Chic escaping or Wally moping to pay attention to that.
>>
>>9549432
I certainly don't
>>
>>9548706
>is it possible for Eye to merely influence them rather than taking over?
Well, Wally has had bad dreams for years and when we first met him he really hated being a cat. And the one where Eye manifested happened just after he spoke to it.
>>
>>9546210
>>9546413
>>9546842
I hope she kills him. In my honest opinion, it's the best outcome because that guy is obviously just going to be more trouble for everyone if he stays alive and at this point I don't give a shit for "whom the bell tolls" because all the good characters are either dead or missing.
>>
>>9549478
>That or Jimgod had no intention of really using all its strength on killing Holly and Chic and only did so to scare the shit out of them for reasons I can't begin to understand.
It actually felt like the original purpose for that sequence was to drive home to Chic that he wasn't as independent as he thought he was and that Holly cared enough about him to put her life on the line for him, something nobody else had ever done. It would have been a good lead-up to a moment between them in the next arc, but I think Aaron changed his mind about that whole thing shortly after it started.

>But for theories in case that's true I found the focus on the Queen lizard as particularly strange as a narrative focus and could see her going full nuclear over her son Chic being sentenced to death by her husband, so she decided to kill all the babies to spite him and everyone else for their fucked up philosophy. It sounds possible, if not necessarily plausible yet. It's been implied in emails that one or both of Chic's parents may have survived, so I guess we'll see. She didn't seem the psycho type to me, though, even for Unity.

>>9549559
Well, I thought the implication there was that his bad dreams were related to his guilt and latent schism syndrome, but maybe Eye can connect itself to all troubled souls who have some degree of latent telepathic ability (like Wally perhaps demonstrates with his dittos and his apparent transmission/pickup thing with Holly during the Milk Trial).
>>
Uh... careful, Crit-Anon, that's a female anthro in a towel you just posted to /co/...
>>
>>9549478
>>9549559

Eye could have designs on Wally. Kill Holly, Wally never gets out of Unity.

>>9546413
>>9546842

Option A seems most likely. She was on a hair trigger before a mob burned down her business and she escaped with her life. A panicking equine/bovine (I'm still not sure) ain't nothing to fuck with, particularly if you're a pretty skinny looking wolf.
>>
>>9550248
Her name is Hoss, and I'm pretty sure someone asked Aaron and he said yes, she's a horse.
>>
>>9550086

>>9550248

>>
>>9550298

>>

>>
>>9549687
>>9550248
It's been mentioned before, but it's not going to happen, there is a slasher film build up with the couple that can't keep their genitals apart, the "nerd" girl, and the wolves as the fuckers that everyone wants to the killed in interesting ways. All it needs is the black guy to get killed first and we're in business.
>>
>>9550358
I was actually assuming no. I don't *think* I've ever seen anyone with "Hoss" as a last name.

That makes me think, though - it's interesting to me to note that not everyone with an animal name seems to be one of Jacob's anti-human supporters. Mallard, for instance, seems to distance himself from politics and is aligned with Al.

So... it could be a case of a lot of people just accepting that one thing in particular from Jacob's rantings (in a stopped clock sort of way) OR maybe some people just had really appropriate names in this world anyway.

>>9550504
Is Aaron much of a fan of slasher films? Or even remotely interested in them? He seems more the David Lynch type.

>All it needs is the black guy to get killed first and we're in business.

Nobody can Kill Gustine. Maybe the comic relief will get killed first.

Black *guy*; you can't kill the black girl right off the bat. She's a mid to late game murder.

It says something about this arc that I'm drawing a total blank as to who that could be right now.

>>9550716

It would work better thematically if it was just a random immune black dude who wandered in and got kicked to death by schisming god-possessed skull horse.

>>
>>9550673
I always liked when they showed human versions of the anthros. Will we ever see Wally's true face? Maybe in another flashback?
>>
>>9554926
Doubtful, I think.

Apart from the fact that both times Wally's past self has potentially been viewable (the photo and the flashback) it's been hidden yet treated less as a big mystery and more as being something Wally has to (or has) let go of, I suspect there won't be another flashback to human Wally.

Aaron already used Wally's intimate "Here's my backstory" moment when he was sharing it with Holly (and any revisiting of it for Kirbee's sake will feel like an unnecessary detour/retread and/or an obvious attempt to have Kirbee "catch up" to Holly relationship wise, which would just draw attention to how unplanned she was as a character) and there's not much mystery left in Wally for flashback exposition except perhaps the eyelid and tooth damage, which are things that happened post-mutation.

Really wish /co/ threads had better quality like they used to. It's remarkable /trash/ has fewer shitposters in comparison.

I think the fetishy porn scares away most of the kiddies.

As for the /co/ threads... not really missing them, personally. Everyone worth talking to seems to be in here, the artists can post whatever they like without fear of getting banned, and these threads still have a much freer atmosphere when it comes to conversation.

I can take or leave his work, personally, mostly leave. Apart from the stilted style and the massive over-reliance on three-quarter views and samey poses, he has a tendency to turn most of the characters into dead-eyed pinups or idiot cartoon caricatures (without any of the charm and truth people like Pen Anon or Crit-Anon add). Akunim, Jamil, Kazen and Suule always felt like they "got" the characters more, even when they were doing lewd stuff.

But, notably, during the period when that possibility was a topic of discussion, and when he was mocking it in the OPs he made.

In retrospect it almost felt like he was continually trying to make a joke out of it to throw people off the scent because he knew it was supposed to be a big surprise.

I think it's just one person who is either really frustrated that KC stuff doesn't get posted often (not sure why, they obviously have plenty stored up to look at if they want to) or is intent on hitting the bump limit for some reason.

Alright, last of my faves. Looking back through his work I saved it looks like he put more effort, and and more distinctive and diverse poses in his art the longer that he posted. Regardless of his effect on the Endtown threads I hope he started making his art better because of them.
>>
>>9566871
Looking more closely this, it doesn't have the amazing line weight control that Jamil does.
>>
>>9567497
One hopes so, yes. Personality and intent aside (way, way aside), he had evident talent, it just feels like he'd plateau'd long ago, gotten lazy, and ended up with a laurel-shaped impression in his ass.

Thinking on it, I hope if Jamil takes anything away from their interactions and collaborations it's that an artist should always keep striving and not get too comfortable.

>>9566938
Not that person, but I'd potentially put it down to the aforementioned laziness. I note that his more recent thing is trying to sell sketch commissions as "You Finish Its". Like he wants to see his art finished but can't be bothered to do it himself.
>>
>>9566938

Because it takes effort, why bother when you can still make money out of crudely made sketches?.

He's known for poor work ethics, Just visit his FA page and see the shout box, he takes months and sometimes years to deliver his commissions.

Me and Twister have been /co/mrades for about the same time. His thing has always been "look at me I'm posting something cool somebody else did!" >Is it time for another round of team-building yet?
Sure.

Congratulations! You drew the short straw. It has been 6 years since you mutated and you’ve been volunteered for foraging duties top side for your colony (https://www.randomlists.com/random-animals set the quantity to 1 and hit refresh). Accompanying you are 2-4 unfortunate souls who were volunteered with you ( http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=anthro Set category to general and amount to 2-4). You are all sent topside with backpacks, rations for 3 days, a flashlight, and a blaster. How long does your party survive, and more importantly what would they be able to bring back?

>Moose
This could be good, until I have to go through a door.

>The scatterbrained male anthropomorphic Penguin who had a near-death experience that changed them significantly. He has a plump build. His wardrobe is mysterious.
A pudgy penguin with PTSD. Hopefully he has enough experience to not get us killed.

>The philandering, rude female anthropomorphic Gerbil with unexpected depths.
A bitch who wants to bang everything, but may offer something of value. I'm not holding my breath though.

>The world-weary male anthropomorphic green-feathered Bird. He has a graceful build.
This guy is meh. He doesn't have anything to offer nor anything that's a detriment.

Well I'm obviously hauling the majority of stuff again. There isn't a good team dynamic and PTSD penguin would probably keep us from exploring too far. We would probably make it back alive thanks to him but with only a couple cans of beans, if that.

First time, here goes:

>Beaver
Oh, cool. I love beavers. Wonder if I have an engineering degree or something to fit the stereotype? Maybe I was in construction, and kept the hard hat as a useful item...

>The persuasive, rude male anthropomorphic green-scaled Lizard. He has a lithe build.
Hmm. Persuasive yet rude. Sounds like someone who values getting his way over all else but has the skills to do it. Could be trouble, could be an asset.

>The nice, promiscuous, uneducated male anthropomorphic Shrew coping with mental illness.
A kindhearted ladies (or guys) man with a problem he keeps secret from others... possibly anxiety or something, to fit the species? Also, probably super tiny. Keeps the group together until he has an attack.

>The cunning, smooth, sheltered female anthropomorphic Crocodile. She has a wasp-waisted build.
Smart but naive about the world, and a fast talker. Also, slim. Again, could be an asset or could be a problem, likely depending on the circumstances.

I bet the Croc gets into debates with the Lizard while the Shrew tries to get everyone to see eye to eye. We probably get pretty far until the Shrew's issues come to the fore and Croc and Lizard start arguing about how to help him, which just makes him feel like he's a burden. In the night he runs away. Everyone feels bad, even the Lizard. The rest of the trip is spent looking for him in the nearby ruins. After shifting some rubble (unstable, thank goodness for the hard hat) to enlarge a small tunnel we think he ran into, we find him huddled in fitful sleep on top of a small cache of beans. We've eaten half of them by the time we get back to Endtown, but at least we get back.

Okay so I'm a Coyote. There are worse animals to be if you want to survive the apocalypse.

> The educated, boring, sheltered female anthropomorphic Cobra from nowhere.

She was in a coma when the change hit. Before the change the medical staff pretty much been treating her as a potential organ bank given the state of her brain. She changed, and healed physically, woke up to a certain amount of confusion, and no small amount of strife. She retained a surprising amount of knowledge and little else, no memory, not much personality.

> The irrational, cynical, self-righteous female anthropomorphic gray-furred Fox.

She's a believer. She still believes in herself above all. She believed in a lot of things. She believed in Endtown, and volunteered to scavenge; she believed in the future; believed in rebuilding; believed in her team. The residue of belief is bitter, and she's on a very ragged edge.

> The confused, withdrawn female anthropomorphic Hare. She has a thin build. Her wardrobe is unconventional.

Some people think she schismed, and the rabbit parts took over. However she wound up like this she just doesn't seem to get a lot of things. Her clothing tends to be a random assortment of things, crudely tailored to fit. She doesn't talk much, or eat much. She moves very fast, and is very alert though.

This group runs and hides from its own shadow. None of them are much good in a fight. The coyote and cobra are great if they can get the drop on one or two. But one or two topsiders usually have four or five backup a radio call away. The fox is the driving force, she's convinced there's food out there. She keeps them moving forward. The cobra doesn't have enough personality to argue. The rabbit is just grateful for direction, and I'm trailing along because Endtown can be pretty torturous for someone with a coyotes senses of smell and hearing.
>>
>>9590499

Went on for a bit there. I don't see this group as accomplishing much beyond survival. Though they might stumble ass backwards into something useful, like a disused water main or underground aqueduct that can be used for direct travel to more outlying regions. Mostly, this lot run, hide, and get in very short, nasty fights with anything unlucky enough to be taken by surprise.

Very interesting teams so far.

If you want to continue the adventure or you want to roll with your last character, use the last digit of the last post you made (or dice roll).
Through a series of event you and your team manage to find themselves in the situation just rolled. Post the link (http://donjon.bin.sh/weird/random/#type=Weird%20Location) and what happens next.

>A derelict building. There is an abandoned automobile here, pierced by several smooth holes.
After dodging into a building with the pudgy penguin advising we should always stay out of sight (my horns getting me stuck for a minute). The gerbil makes a makes a rude comment about my horns before we look at the car with 2" diameter hole in it like it had been attacked with a giant hole punch. The gerbils then goes on to explain the effects and anomalies of Amesworthy radiation and how water seeping under the paint and the effect of the radiation on water could produce these holes. The penguin is inspecting his rations during this lecture.

>A grand theatre. A spire of jagged stone has thrust upward through the floor from below.

"Where did it come from?"
"Where does it *go*?"
"... where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe? "
"..."
"..."
"... sorry, that was stupid. This place just has me nervous."

As the Lizard and Croc give the Shrew looks that merge worry and pity with exasperation, I examine the base of the spire... looks like it rises from a sub-level area. This could be a good way to get past that locked door to the basement.

It's jagged enough for handholds, too... could be worthwhile to have the shrew climb it to see if he can squeeze through - with luck, it might pierce all the way to an otherwise inaccessible area of the upper level of this shopping complex.

We still haven't found the concession stand storage area (dehydrated corn would be a dream come true), but there's other regions here that are either blocked off or locked. It's a continual source of annoyance that we don't have the equipment or strength in our group to deal with locks.

"But seriously, what do you think caused this?"
"Dunno. Some combination of weapon effects, I suppose. It wasn't all zero-bombs."
"Reminds me of that report about that city-zone that was like a big half-flipped pancake."

I mention the options I see to the others, and the Croc and Lizard begin to debate whether we should go up or down first as the Shrew looks increasingly nervous.

I'd give my helmet for a good pry bar...

So... what are our final thoughts on how this is going to go down?

Some third party steps in? I'd wager Walt is more likely than Sanitation Wolf. Possible last minute rescue by a cop?
Smartwolf tries to restrain his friend from doing something stupid, they come to blows, Heather is further traumatised by wolf's inhumanity to wolf?
Smartwolf tries to come between them, is killed in front of Hatwolf by a crazed Heather, Hatwolf runs away with yet another inflammatory story?
Hatwolf underestimates Heather's abilities and gets a serious or even mortal blow, Smartwolf runs away?
Hatwolf confronts Heather only for her to collapse in sobbing terror, causing him to be taken aback and somewhat shamed (we didn't see these two at the protest, and they seem marginally more intelligent than the rest...)?
Heather schisms/becomes an Eye-vessel?
Heather is finally killed in a public street in a homage to the (somewhat mythologised) murder of Kitty Genovese?
Hatwolf goes to kill Heather only to find that she's already an inch from committing suicide anyway? The big dark space there almost looks like it could be a canal side... it'd be funny if the guy who set out to kill her either ended up accidentally scaring her into falling or confusedly witnessing her jumping off the edge.

The fact that he's approaching her from behind and she's only being shown from that perspective in the last strip feels significant, like there's a reveal coming.

I wonder if there's some special circumstance under which someone could mutate again and spontaneously become an eatbeast?

Okay, so looking into this, apparently an Automat is a retro fast food joint made entirely of vending machines, and the 27 combo thing is probably advertising 27 different available food combinations. So probably 27 different variations on Beans/Eggs/Milk with optional rat seasoning. They went out of business in America for various reasons. I guess they make some degree of sense for Endtown, though, since the majority of the food there is canned beans, easily served by machinery.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automat

It also implies currency in Endtown, which I don't recall seeing referenced much. How the hell does it work? Coupons? Some kind of local chit system which functions almost but not quite the same as coinage, because mostly only the government has anything worth buying?
>>
>>9607676
I get the feeling that hat wolf is going to end up the victim in this situation.

>>9607873
Maybe Maurice stepped up his 3 layer bean casserole. 9 times to be exact.

>>9595322
Well shit, I forgot to add if we died or not.

Nobody's a real detriment to the team but we don't have anything that's great. We'd be able to get enough beans or scavenge something useful with the crow's intelligence or the emu's drive, but if we come up against a real threat like topsiders, some of us might not be coming back. Overall, a pretty decent team, but I just wish I didn't look like Watto from episode I with a fuzzy tail.
>>
>>9612951
>I get the feeling that hat wolf is going to end up the victim in this situation.
I think we're all getting that feeling. Even the GoComics folks seem to be putting their money on schism/Eye, though one of them did bring up the possibility of Heather already being dead by the time Hatwolf gets there and Hatwolf taking the rap for it.

I like not-Watto, by the way. Kind of cute.

I'm not sure if it's intentional but the sketchy way Heather is drawn makes it look like there is something wrong about her.. like it's suggesting that we're about to see something horrible once we see her up close.

Also, I'd like to point out that despite only adding tension to the story, it is a very well made strip when you really look at it.
>>
>>9627493
Yes, I've been critical as hell of the strip of late, but this one has a nice progression and angles. You can almost imagine the near-silence of the windless underground, broken only by the sound of hooves on asphalt, and to a lesser extent by the padding of a wolf.

At least we know Heather has entered murder-mode. Aaron said that's a defining characteristic of Schism Syndrome, perhaps this is a late case? Though there is no yowling.. maybe she's just a regular psychotic killer.

I was wondering if it was up yet. While I was out I had the thought "Plain old human murderous rage because she's been pushed too far" and "She deliberately led him down there because she could hear him and his buddy talking or knew he was following her". I wonder if that's what this could be? "Yowling maniac" suggests animal attack patterns to be, and this is more intelligent than that.

Somehow it seems less interesting than schism/Eye. However, her face *is* obscured...

>>9643384

I think like the other wolves he was probably "only" intending a beating anyway. I mean, he did say she was going to regret it.

They seem too cowardly to go all the way on anything that involves direct physical harm. Even in a group all they did was give her a trivial headwound, as though the one with the hammer had hit her from behind and then they'd all turned and run away.

I wonder now... is Smartwolf going to go looking for his friend, see the bloody scene, and run, or is he going to go looking and meet the same fate?

I feel like this is leading to another round of rumours and stories, so I'm guessing he's going to be the only witness.
>>
>>9645893
He'll be witness to a bloody, crazed Heather walking from the alley. We won't see her face, but what he sees will be implied to be horrible. Eventually it'll be revealed that the horror was just in her expression, not any schism/Eye stuff.

He arrives only to see the bloody scene and a crazy Heather, tries to run away but the brick hits him right in the back of the head. Next strip is him being pulled into the Alley by Heather then being found in the morning next to his friend, maybe both dead.

I'm pretty sad that this is what became of Heather, though. As I've said before, I expected more of her character with all the things she had going on.

The wolves are seriously devoid of personality besides being a menace to society, even in Unity many lizards go their names mentioned and a bit of character too.
>>
>>9653840
Yes, sadly they feel more like props that are there to make a point than anything else.

It doesn't even feel like they existed as a grouping prior to this arc. It's like... suddenly they were a thing. A thing that was already enough of an issue and has already been around long enough that the public dialogue has progressed to the "wolf-apologetics is bad" phase.

>"It's not that simple and predictable. Aaron is a master writer and there's going to be a twist because this would be too easy for him."
>"Oh, no, wait. It is that simple and predictable. Um... boy, Endtown sure is dark!"
>>
>>9664090
I thought it was a joke on how the picture was too dark to see clearly.
>>
>>9665112
I think by "dark" he was referring back to his claim that it couldn't be Heather. He didn't think she had it in her to brain someone with a brick and this had to be a set-up with a third party involved. But nope, it is her, and she does, and it's just the two of them. Hence, "Endtown is dark".

Of course, it could be both, the man has a thing for puns (sometimes good, usually awful).

This seems like a real bad idea. Especially the frayed rope part. It probably breaks on the last person climbing down the rope like a cliche. Now we have to explore some dilapidated steam tunnels hopefully escaping, but if not, lost and never seen again. At least shoggoths would have been cool.
