Hunger Games Thread / HG Thread
[What is the Hunger Games?]
In these threads, someone may call for “First gays”. When that happens, reply to the post with a name and picture of a Dr.Pepper you want to use as a tribute in a Hungry Gays simulation. You should also put gender in case it isn’t clear. From there, just sit back and watch as the host fiddles and puts your tribute in a fight to the life with all the rest entered!
During games and during downtime, many people Arrpee as their main avatars (or “faggots”). It’s not necessary, but it’s recommended to fully feel like you’re in the game. Don’t be shy to just jump right in!

What exactly happens in the last 2 lines where the red arrow is?
I feel like it skipped too many steps between to make it shorter, but harder to follow.

A game of hide and seek? I haven't played it in a long time, but I doubt I'd fit into the spaces that I used to be able to fit in when I was little.

>>9447175
Yes, that is a rather scary spot. I think I saw a spider sitting there once. Absolutely horrifying.
>>9447209
Listen to the rain pattering on the roof, drumming on the window. That lone crack of thunder that sounds so distant...ah, there's nothing like a bit of rain.
>>9447225
Little fairy? Have the spirits claimed you?
>Rubick lets the silence pass before coming to the conclusion that she's dead.
Oh. Well, that's no good. Eh.
>>9447235
>Hanekawa takes off her glasses for a moment to clean it before looking at the hotel staff again
>The man did have a uniform on, he was moving.

Oh well, you can't expect clean water from faucets all the time. I guess when you do get it, it should be something to be thankful about.
What an important lesson.
>>9447287
Excellent haunting! I go to wash my hands, but they get even dirtier. What clever tricks will these ghosts think of next?
>>9447291
Shit you got me.
>>9447292
We expected a cute fox but this is just too hard to handle!
>>9447302
>Hanekawa looks around in concern, the old age of the hotel, the number of people currently in the room smoking and drinking, the fire exit at the corner of the room blocked off by furniture.
This... this place is a death trap...
>>9447299
So do we kill it or set the eldritch being free into the wild?
>>9447302
Oh, so the ghosts are actually capable of performing murder? Between all the bell ringing and dirty water I had no idea.
>>9447313
We can't burn it that well. but we could send it to fly go into the woods or something
>>9447327

Are you alright? Was that you? You couldn't have possibly made that noise.
>>9447327
Again with this wretched bell? I can't take this! I'll be right back.
>Rubick steps out of the room for a moment. When he comes back in, the bell ringing has stopped.
Shitty ghosts.

>>9447405
You can trust me with whatever information you may have. I have no intent to use any of it against you. Honest!
>>9447405
I'm not going to so much as touch anything made by a ghost. This experience has soured by view of them as a whole. What made Spectre so pleasant? Was it because I couldn't understand her? For all I know she could've been insulting me.
>>9447422
Don't worry, if I thought I saw a ghost I'd try my best to annihilate it too. I have to question your means for exorcism though because I'm not aware of many ghosts that are affected by silverware. If I was truly a ghost I would've just possessed you and made you turn the blade on yourself. Anyways, I'll die now.
>Rubick dies

>Hanekawa bangs on the door, trying to get it to open, yanking on the door knob. It was no good, it seems to be more than just a lock. The door won't budge.

Ya think just a ghost would be enough ta take me out? Ya don't have enough faith in me, not at all! 'Course, that didn't kill me. Ya can't fight back against ghosts, it's impossible, so I just made a quick escape outta the window! But, when I was escapin', I spilled a bottle 'a ketchup layin' on the nightstand. Also turns out that leavin' the hotel got me disqualified.
....But, that's what happened. I ain't about ta die ta some no-name ghosts.
>>9447484

>Hanekawa spins on her heels and walks up to the hotel entrance to investigate to so called pool of ketchup
>The front doors have been locked, it does not open unless a game is in progress.
>She turns back around and smiles at him
I suppose I'll have to take your word for it. That's some very peculiar ketchup, as runny as I remember it being. I must have been organic.
Eating healthy, I see. Good on you.
There's no shame in dying to ghosts, death is unfortunate and we can't choose when or where you'll fall victim to it.

>>9447536
Better be quick bro, Archer is already trying to get in her pants.

>>9447531
Ta your knowledge, all ordinary people die. But there's one thing you aren't accountin' for.
I ain't ordinary. I'm sure even someone like you who's just met me can tell that much. How do I know I can die if I ain't ever died before? How do I know that me dyin' means me disappearin' from this world if I'm the only one I know for sure is conscious? What if me dyin' makes the entire rest 'a the world disappear, 'n I'm the only one that lives on?
When I die, the world's gotta go somewhere, 'n I got no idea where it'd go. That's why I ain't ever gonna die. It's impossible.
>>9447546
>trying
Everybody who talks to her for 5 minutes can get in her pants anon, it's a matter of winning her heart that's the hard part
>>9447561

Well her heart is broken for good now.
>>9447558
Lots of things happen after you die, Vino-san. Just without you. I suppose there is no way to prove such a thing, but I can agree that a number of people might hold those beliefs to make their lives feel as if it had more meaning.
If anything, I'm glad you believe the world ends with your death. It's all the more a reason for you to protect yourself and your life, or else the world would be in danger.
>>9447511
>all these ic dramas
>no ooc drama
>>9447568
'Course it would be. What kinda world functions without its creator? 'Sides, I got a family, a wife 'n kids, the whole package, that I gotta be there for. No chance I'm gonna be kickin' the bucket, that just ain't an option. Only reason I'm so lax about it here's 'cause it seems like death ain't death after all.
Surprised ya ain't gonna be the type ta argue it ta death with me, though. Most people like you that I meet ain't exactly on my side about this whole idea.
>>9447602
I've seen many strange things during my lifetime I wouldn't dismiss such a claim without first listening to it. Different perspectives are healthy for the mind, and I'm not petty enough to dispute another person's beliefs of they are of no consequence to others. If you are correct, life hasn't been any different and I doubt that it will be knowing this fact. You've told me such a thing with confidence, there's no way I would disagree.
Any hosts here?
>>9447618
Anon they're all dead.
>>9447617
Just like ya said! I ain't ever been more confident about nothin' in my life. It's the only thing that makes sense ta me! I dunno.. Maybe I just ain't got an imagination, but that's how I see it.
..Y'know what? I like ya! What kinda strange things have ya seen? 'Cause, if ya'd believe it, I think I got a few stories 'a my own ta blow your mind. Real supernatural stuff ya wouldn't even believe if I told ya.
>>9447643
Oh my, I've been liked.
There are a number of people around me who have been affected by the supernatural. Aberrations or oddities, pick the name you prefer. Born of human beliefs and emotions, they can manifest to cause harm to the person they decide to appear before. A number of them have appeared in my hometown before and because of my knowledge, I've been asked to help taking care of them whenever I'm able to contribute.
What about your town?
>>9447655
Hold on, hold on, we'll get ta me in a second, but that's nothin' like what I was expectin'. I know this place has a ton 'a crazy stuff happenin' in it, but you're sayin' it's like that back where you're from, too? When we're talkin' "aberrations" 'n "manifest" 'n those kinds 'a things, the first thing that pops inta my head is ghosts. You tellin' me you're like a teenage schoolgirl ghostbuster?
>>9447618
That depends. Is Junpei here?
Is Shiki here?
>>9447677
My secret ava? Yes.
>>9447672
I'm not a professional like a man I know named Oshino-san, but I do play support with the investigating part of things because of my knack for gathering knowledge. You might call them ghosts, but anything supernatural that appears and disappear, that only certain people can see, that cause all sorts of problems to their victims, I suppose that would be an appropriate general term for it.
The first thing that comes to mind are cats, because I've been involved with such an aberration myself. I try not to talk about other people and their own aberrations. They mostly appear because of personal issues or turmoil. It would be a violation of their privacy if I were to talk about them to another person.
It's against the rules!
>>9447683

>>9447683

>>9447700

>>9447674

Just host and when he is here he'll tell you.
>>9447691
Gotcha. I know all about that whole code-'a-silence thing, 'n frankly this ain't worth torturin' ya over, so I'm all for leavin' it at that for now. Sounds like an action-packed life, though, I'll give ya that. Always havin' ta deal wit' all that paranormal stuff, that is.
As for me, I've really only had a run-in with one supernatural, erh.. "Thing" in my life, 'n I happen ta be friends with it nowadays. Well, them, I guess. See, I don't know the full story, but I guess somehow some old guy found a way ta make a drink that'd make ya immortal. You could die, but you'd just get brought back 'n all your wounds would heal, nothin' I'd ever seen before. Never age either, like the stuff straight outta a movie. Just so happens that my wife's dad's one'a those people. Only way they can die is bein' killed by another immortal.
Far as I know, all'a the people who're immortal nowadays're either friends 'a mine or in my family-in-law. Plus, it ain't like I'd ever need a power like that, since I ain't ever gonna die anyway. Still, always knocks peoples' socks off ta hear about.

You might not remember me down the road, but you will certainly remember those people that you were immortal with.

Ahahah! Funny ya say that. See, a lotta people would actually call me.. Hm.. I dunno, what's the word most people would jump ta? "Evil," I guess? Maybe some people would say "he's the scum 'a the earth" or "he should be locked up for life." Gotten that one a few times. Anyhow, point is, most people ain't a big fan of people in my "line 'a work." Too violent for them, 'n really they never bother ta ask the big questions.
Consider somethin'. Ya got three gangs all fightin' for dominance of a city, sometimes four or five at once. Ain't it better ta end those turf wars as soon as possible? 'N the fastest way 'a doin' that is takin' out the most corrupt, the biggest figureheads in those gangs, yeah? 'N that's where I come in. Ya tell me who ta kill, 'n I kill 'em. Bam, they never existed. Easy as that. But it ain't like I'm killin' for no reason. My family, the Gandors, they've always known what they're doin'. Nobody we kill is just a pointless kill. They're all scumbags the world's better off without anyhow.
..Man, that really turned inta a bit of a rant, didn't it? Point is, don't judge a book by its cover. Ya seem like a smart girl, one'a those "ask questions" type, I'm sure ya ain't like most.

If the people were truly evil then I wouldn't argue your ways of dealing with them if it is for the better good. Other people may call you evil, but you can't think that of yourself, Vino-san. You have to remember the good you're fighting for, even if you are forced to do some questionable things at times. You aren't a civilian but a soldier. Soldiers are honored for their achievements on the battlefield, no?
Other people may call me smart. Most of them have told me at one time that I know everything, but actually, I don't know anything, I just know what I know.

>The skeleton, who had made a greeting post, goes on to demonstrate his evilness by promptly telling the anon to "shut up." This act betrays the very nature of a greeting post, a post made to greet! When somebody had greeted him back the skeleton dismissed him entirely. Yes I said the same thing twice but that's what repetition does - it emphasises a point. It wasn't always like this though, you see. It all started when he made an earlier greeting post and then was ignored and then became evil. Now he lurks the threads, his evil influence corrupting..the thread...eeeeeeeeeeee. While completely evil the skeleton felt the need to clarify that this post isn't meant to mock anyone, but was just because the skeleton was very, very bored.

All of my teachers expected me to go right to university when I graduated, but in all honesty, my true wish is to travel the world and see all the places of interest. Coming by this place once in while is part of that world wide trip. What fun is it to just sit, watch, and take pictures? I want to take part in the cultures of the places I go to. I found it most interesting, the tradition of fighting in this place.

Ya ain't innocent anymore, like ya might be out here. Everybody's sinned in that arena. No goin' easy on ya just because I like ya. You're prey just like everybody else. Normal people go ta the gym, 'n I come here. It's just how I stay in shape. So.. No matter what happens in there, try not ta take it personally, yeah?

I have been pretty impressed with Whole Cake Island's pacing so far but at the same time I figure that has to end sometime soon
And with Oda having Reiju repeat her speech about Sanji being the only good Vinsmoke for like the fourth time now just to fill time I'm starting to think this flashback might be a bit shit on the pacing
Hope I'm wrong though, this arc has been great so far
Great memes too

>>9448882

>>9448922
Do you feel the pacing was better than dressrosa? Because the power spike is already hitting hard.
>>9448952
>Do you feel the pacing was better than Dressrosa
Nigga the pacing of almost any piece of fiction to ever exist is better than Dressrosa. Dressrosa's pacing was atrocious. Easily the worst pacing I have EVER seen in manga. And it wasn't even spent well, either. There was so little to look forward to it was painful. Rebecca was a shit character that I couldn't sympathize with, Sanji got written out early on in the arc, Zoro oneshot Pica, didn't give a fuck about Cavendish or Kyros, HATED Trebol, the only thing I cared about was Luffy & Law vs. Doffy. Law getting his arm cut off was cool but him immediately getting it stitched back on ruined that scene, and then Luffy practically just stomps the fuck out of Doffy which, while deserved, left the whole 100+ chapters of Dressrosa feeling pointless. Why couldn't Luffy have just oneshot Doffy sooner? Doffy was practically fodder to Gear 4th.
Blegh. Just. Bad memories when talking about Dressrosa.
>>9448979
Even the Jews would agree the holocaust probably had better pacing than Dressrosa

The way I see it, Big Mom is still WAY above their level. They wouldn't be able to take her out any other way than the way they're doing it now. And if we're truly going to take down every yonko by the end of the series, or at least challenge them, then why not start with both
A.) The weakest
and
B.) The one where we have a great once in a lifetime opportunity to take her down
If we actually manage to beat her, it would be a good place to start in order to gauge how strong Kaido is, and prepare us for the fight against Kaido. Because with Big Mom, we have a plan. We can actually do this if we follow the plan to a T. With Kaido though? We HAVE to fight Kaido. Like.. Actually fight him. No cheap gimmicks or poison or anything. We're gonna be trading blows with Kaido, the strongest man alive.
We gotta be ready for that. And while Big Mom seems like a big jump from Doflamingo, she's the best place to start.
>>9449076
>>9449138
Yeah, she does seem like the best place to start, what with your other options being the suicidal giant, shanks, or tubby. The real question is whether or not their plan is actually going to work, because I feel it probably won't.
Give me 20 avafags' names.
>>9449160
If you want my opinion, I don't think Big Mom will die. It's just not like Oda to kill characters without having a major reason to do so. If we're able to just KO Big Mom and put her into the hospital until the end of series if need be, then that's what Oda'll do, and that's what I think MIGHT happen. I was 100% on that train until the flashback was revealed, and now I'm not so sure. Getting what seems to be a sympathetic flashback right before a villain is defeated seems really weird. That's why I'm thinking we might somehow, someway, get Big Mom on our side as an ally to either help us fight Kaido or help us fight somewhere down the line. Imagine Luffy and Katakuri fighting Kaido's men back to back? That'd be sick as fuck! Sanji and Smoothie kicking the shit out of Jack? Hell yeah dude

I could see it going either way at this point. I definitely don't think she's going to die. If she actually legitimately DIES I will eat a shoe. The two ways I see this playing out are either:
Big Mom is KO'd but too resilient to be killed by the missiles, and the 'fight' of the arc is their escape route being blocked/destroyed and them having to fight against Katakuri/Smoothie/Daifuku/Oven/Perospero etc.
OR
Something happens in this flashback, Big Mom stays conscious through the missiles or they miss her entirely, a brief fight occurs between her and Luffy, and then they somehow become allies via... Something. Maybe the missiles will hit someone Big Mom actually cares about and Reiju will use her poison succ to cure them. I don't know. Anything could happen to make this route.
