I think Heavy Metal is the safest. Krom crashes every race and he's fine.

The boom boxer is a death trap. It's the heaviest armor apparently but a completely open cockpit. The Atlas is the same but the raised seating should allow you to at least bail or be thrown off the rig if it flips. The boomboxer flips and it will crush your head straight through your ass. I'm still surprised they managed to work racing as being important to the plot in a serious manner. Most of these racing cartoons somehow spin it that racing is some sort of fantastic space contest that the galaxy depends on or otherwise get first or everyone dies kind of scenario. Here they go into the aspect of corruption and conspiracies and how races can be fronts for it.

What will season two be about? I've said this before, but I fear the story is going to go in an insane direction. King was a realistic villain. He was corrupt and was trying to do whatever he could to maximize ratings and make a lot of money.

It's unlikely that the ringmasters have the same goal. They're probably the ones who tried to kill Rick, and he went underground for thirteen years to try to expose them. It stands to reason that they have a much more evil objective.

If the cartoon is supposed to be about racing, I have a hard time seeing how you tie in a global conspiracy about... something... without it coming off as forced.

One last bump before Rimba Racer vanishes from 4chan for six months.

The studio knew of us, you know. They posted in the /co/ threads. I'm pretty sure they even made a few threads. But what they didn't realize is that we have a very short attention span. People get interested in something and then they move on. From one flavor to the next. It reached a point where the thread the final episode got 30 replies and died. Granted, that episode leaked months ago, but the point stands.

I wanted them to strike while the iron was hot. To try to catch the lightning in a bottle and put it to good use. But that ship has sailed. I don't think they'll be able to rely on a sudden surge of support from /co/ if they do launch a crowdfunding campaign.

I still think they'll fail to meet their goal. If they want to raise money, maybe they should cut out the middle man and just sell premium merchandise. Currently, they only sell Rimba Kids shit.

Season two is so far along in development that I have to assume they have funding, but in my conversations with them, they implied they wanted to use some of the crowdfunding money to put the finishing touches on the season. Yet they claim the season will be finished by this fall.

It doesn't look like a kickstarter is going to happen anytime soon, so if they wanted to use the money from such a campaign on season two, it would have to start by the middle of June.

I'm not sure at this point that they'll really launch a campaign.

I've seen a lot of animated programs. There have been plenty that have had big things happen only for characters to move on or forgive somebody far too quickly. I suspect season two of Rimba Racer is going to be thirteen episodes long, just like season one.

All of that goodwill they earned with that Meika plot twist could easily blow up in their face if they botch that plot point in season two. "If" they decide to go the generic route and have her eventually side with Tag and his friends, they can't just have them brush her actions aside like it's no big deal. I worry they'll fall into that trap, though. If she does side with them, I think they'd need to find out by episode eight and then have a few episodes of distrust before she eventually proves herself and rejoins the team.

I still don't think the Riq plot twist was very clever. It was an old-ass trope. The Meika plott wist, however, was great. But this shows that they're capable of being very predictable as well as very original. The problem is, I don't know which we'll get in season two.

I couldn't do better, but I've seen enough to know common pitfalls when I see them. A rushed resolution to the Meika plot would piss everybody off. You can't refute that. I'm not here to suck their dick. I'm not going to act like Rimba Racer is the greatest animated program of all time and that it's perfect in every way.

I love the show. I'm glad I found it and I'm glad people watched it. It's a damn good show. But that doesn't mean season two will be as well. My opinion on the show will hinge on how they handle that Meika plot.

And if you think I'm being stupid, just look at shows like Adventure Time or Regular Show. Look at how pissed people got when they handled plot points or made bad decisions. Like when Finn lost his arm eight times only to get his arm back right away. That first time Finn lost his arm, or when Princess Bubblegum turned into a kid, people thought shit was going down. it was huge. It was supposed to change the show. But then they literally resolved those big things in one episode and quickly moved on. I don't want Rimba Racer to make the same mistake.

Problem is: I think they're going to be really reluctant to put season two onto YouTube. Season one was put on there to help build a fandom, for either getting season two on a network or for strengthening the crowdfunding campaign. When season two premieres later this year, they're probably talking about in Malaysia and India.

The 2,000 views per episode they're getting aren't going to pull in any money in ad revenue. YouTube isn't exactly profitable for them in that regard. So you can bet they're only going to put the episodes on there as a last resort. They want Netflix or Cartoon Network or something.

And I don't know if that trick to rip the episodes from that India website will work again for season two.

People may come back to the show. The kickstarter/indiegogo just needs to have clear goals and not an absurd amount of money needed. I don't think it could raise $200,000. But animation is expensive: these guys want to raise $140,000 for a pilot episode. One pilot episode.

All I know if that I can't keep saving money forever. I already blew my load after my computer died and I had to buy a new one. At the moment, I only have a few hundred dollars that I could spend on a campaign. But the longer they wait, the more there is a risk that I'll need to spend my money on other things. I might pre-order an Xbox Scorpio after E3 and that'll probably require $100-$200 for the deposit.

Now say that rewards cost around one third of the campaign (depending on what they give; this is the average percentage they'll take). Minus KS/IGG fees, minus transfer fees, minus costs, they're looking at 27-30k left to use on stuff, which isn't enough to do shit, but if they get it, they're obligated to deliver.

When they do that, there's a high risk of piracy. Somebody is going to take those digital episodes and upload it onto mega. That could be a problem. But a lot of people might also be very willing to drop $30-$50 on getting season two delivered to them online and to support the show in the process.

And the problem with that is most times, you can't price digital only high enough to sustain an entire crowdfund. assuming they went for $140,000 (the number given above in a similar ks for one episode), they'd need 2800 people all pledging at least $50. For a crowdfund like this, made by no-names by western standards, with acceptable but not godlike CGI, about 1500-1800 backers is the most they could expect, and not all of them are gonna pledge at the 50 tier. In fact, based on similar crowdfund research, I'd say only somewhere around 35-40% will go that high.
