From the gate there is a problem here: there is a definite (but thankfully not hostile) schism between those who prefer their anthros very heavily based off of their real life counterparts in behavior and physiology, and others who are just after "people that happen to be animals."

You can sling around some ideas about how certain species act, and how they're perceived by society in mass, but asking people to stick to a setting is a touch unfair. Especially if their preferred species might be problematic in some way and they have to come up with some convoluted reason to explain why they're in a relationship when all they want to do is imagine holding hands with a komodo dragon in the park without any fuss. I can already see the "pets: slavery, caste, or career?" arguments from here, too.

Also creating a setting in general needs a lot of fine touching and minding of details, and a solid foundation that every can agree on that isn't just the fetish at hand. That's how you end up with things like futadom worlds (and our older cousin /PoFg/), where everything feels super hamfisted while reading it because the fetish came first instead of reasoning. If the answer for any question of "But why" regarding a key feature in the setting is "Because the fetish," then we're already off to a shit start. As it stands, we're only here to see human dudes have sex with animal chicks. More structure is not exactly needed at the moment, and writefags don't seem to be comparing notes with each other to maintain consistency.

Would it neat? Maybe. It would definitely be something to point do as an example of what /hmofa/ expects and is interested in, enough to act like a cheat sheet for newcomers. But if it's done poorly it'll just be another shitty fetish setting hold together by hazard tape and day old jizz. And the last thing we need is some autist shitposting at new OC because 'it doesn't fit with the setting, so it doesn't belong here/is shit'

Ah, I can see your point, but that's not what I was going for. I had no intention of trying to unify the thread into a single setting or force anyone to conform to it, I just thought a little collaborative project off to one side where people could pitch in ideas or maybe draw/write little pieces of a larger whole could be a fun activity. Just a small thread canon that could live alongside the 'normal' porn images and smut stories we're used to. And like you said, maybe it'd give people some clues on what might go down well, or an idea/inspiration for something new.

Ideally, I'd like to maybe have a strawpoll for things like genre, setting size, races, themes, etc, and then we could build up from there and create a living world that makes internal sense, but I do agree that it could just define a difference in tastes in a confrontational way, which I would like to avoid.

The idea was if you had a setting with both humans and anthros but the humans still have the same relative intelligence to the anthros as we do to normal animals as well as the same general kind of relationship.
This would Humans the setting's version of the True Fae and when you consider what domesticated animals are and how a wild animal must see them (pic related was a very big inspiration in that regard) then that only compounds the similarity.

Anthros would give you a more traditional DnD type experience (could probably even be run in DnD without much hastle) while humans would be entirely stranger.
The latter would also be a lot more reminiscent of actual White Wolf games as infiltrating anthro society to do whatever it is your doing would likely be a core element.

In the setting I'm cooking up, anyway, it's a procedure associated with hereditary dispositions to complications or issues later on. Removed after birth if there's a high likelihood of problems, or else if/when a problem arises later in life. In some sophisticated cultures where it's the norm, it's done as a rule rather than the exception, by the will of the parents. (Think of it like the human appendix, only more eligible for pre-emptive removal.)

While that fact is interesting is because it's not only skunks you have to think about with evolving out of things along with what human traits will be introduced into anthros and what animal traits they will keep because one thing I have learned while searching furry art (other than people seem to mess up a lot on animal traits when they aren't suppose to be hybrids of other animals) is that body structure can very from humans with animal/human hybrid heads covered in fur and have a tail to varying degrees of beastly with the most notable being changes in the structure of the legs and feet. Honestly I think you should edit the heat down a bit; unless the guy in your story is some kind of madman Nordic getting a sauna cranked up to 150 Celsius probably has a very good chance of genuinely killing him and God only knows what it'll do to an anthro with far worse heat exchanging ability thanks to being covered in fur. It throws the suspension of disbelief when something that outrageous happens in the middle of a story and nothing comes of it.
