Had an apt viewing this morning that had a lot of red flags early on; Googling the address for directions got several negative reviews of the property, a rep for a cleaning service was waiting for the building super when we arrived and told us she's seen bedbugs and roaches in the room she's been cleaning (and saw the same in other buildings on same block she's been cleaning), the building manager who was supposed to see us was in court so the super subbed for her, and one of the two rooms did have a dead roach out in the open.
So despite accepting the application form with a "I'll think about it", I don't think I'll be going back.

Despite that, still have some further leads, so here's hoping.

Fairly quiet threads, so in between, I'm reading a recomposetion of the original film script, the real Zistopia if you will.
I guess most here have read it, and it is an amazing work.
The violence is a little frightening in places, equally on par to the original Orwellian Animal Farm.
Having seen all the original deleted scenes, the reader's imagination becomes well detailed.
If made, this movie wouldn't have been as popular, although I dare to suggest that the finished film would still have probably earned an Oscar.

Not sure if it is just me, but something in this comic set me off a bit. It kinda happened when I saw that green with Remmy getting Charlie pregnant and seeing this comic later. Now, re-read Judy's lines and Nick's lines, yeah yeah it's stupid as fuck but bear with me a bit.

Judy in the comic always come off as self-serving. I mean I know, both are emotional and Judy has reasons to fear, Nick isn't that much better either, but Judy in this seem to lack understanding of how someone else feels. Ignoring Nick's feelings and input, crying but suddenly stopping next frame as if in a play, unfounded fears till pushed to say simply "my career", shouting him down when he speak. Then comes the slap that throws him on the ground, where she then resumes the crying and ask him to forgive her because she "lost her temper" over him speaking his mind, cue stop crying since it was ineffective. Not even on the bridge scene she asks for him to just forgive her. She then turns to say "I still love you" for whatever reason, and "I need you more now than ever", to then return to say what can be summed to "It's useless trying to express your opinion, I don't care". I mean sure, she's between a rock and a hard place and she wants to stand her ground, but right now I really just hope they break up.

I'm starting to think level headed writing like this gets no attention because it's expected. Like you go into an story expecting Nick and Judy, them arguing, them feeling bad and then they concede something to one another and grow from it. That's basically the formula, no one bats an eye at it.

If you go something like JUDY WANTS TO ABORT AND HITS NICK OH MY FUCK and other shit people actually see something different, even if shit, and are hyped, no matter what.

Any story is going to be better with conflict. A story without conflict is a kind of boring story.
But abortion is just a shallow topic to create conflict about because its eyerollingly basic, has no depth beyond I-want I-don't/My-Choice Its-our-CHILD!!!, and there's neither an extreme side to be taken nor a comfortable grey area that doesn't end up sounding preachy as fuck.

To offer a bit of a counterpoint, I find it's all in execution. If the characters and their conflict are written well, just about anything can be interesting. "Well-written" is a lot higher than most requirements on my list when it comes to fics.

Yeah, Fluent is the fic where the sequel, Eloquence, had forced cuck and such. The newest chapters of Fluent on the author's new account don't seem to have an inkling of cuck so far, but we'll see what happens. That isn't even speaking of the apparent "let us just shit on Nick" story Shackled...

Fluency AU, in my opinion, is much better at building the differences in culture between foxes and bunnies than Fluent did. Fluent felt like a WildeHopps story with some culture things sprinkled into it at times, only a chapter or two focusing on it. Fluency has almost every chapter centered around some behavior or tradition of foxes and rabbits.

My only complaint with that story is that there is very much a lack of sci-fi/eldritch horrors other than "This thing is keeping Nick alive" and nothing else for these first 20+ chapters. It was teased for a moment during the chase from the bear, but that was it. The character/relationship building between Nick and Judy has been nice, I'll admit, but hopefully we can start getting into the sci-fi elements of the whole thing.
