The prose and the sudden turn of Old One Hundredth definitely caught my attention. I'm more used to short, almost inelegantly blunt prose, so it was certainly an interesting read. ok just beat my first playthrough tryin to figure out a few things

1st why was there an arm on the street. they literally never explain that situation aside from brushing it off. if they throw people down a nihilistic murderhole where does cutting off an arm happen and why would you be walking down the street with it and not notice dropping it

ghost man grabbing the kid- who the fuck was it. nobody was ever reported missing, they say they only take shitty people and bad seeds but that was just a kid playing on his cellphone and like almost every tertiary character is a shitty waste of space so why grab some random kid. i get they wanted to cast shade on mae's ghost story but it falls apart when they're real people being abducted outside of some sort of illuminati context

ghost guy jumps over the fence while carrying hundreds of pounds? they're supposed to have superpowers, kind of? i only remember cave dude mentioning health but i guess he meant light superman power. you'd figure down in the hole they'd 360 noscope gregg and just fucking tear mae's leg off instead of letting go after being kicked in the face a few times. hell probably escaping from the cave couldn't have been too hard either. they're probably fine

the cult in general- so maes story is that she realizes shes in a video game and nothing matters and that psychic fleas are coming to fuck up creation and "not god" (le tip) dgaf, but then why does feeding people to a cursed hole in the ground have tangible benefits to the ubermensch council and the prosperity of the town. you'd figure if the driving supernatural plot was just uncreation from unknowing and unknowable awful creatures then why, at all, would there be a system of sacrifices granting benefits and neglect bringing about natural disaster

I know it happens outside fandoms and I've felt that way about some media too, but the way it was put into NITW felt really out of place and there was no reason for it to be presented the way it was. Actually most of what was cut was just dialogue. Although, that's just the stuff we know got cut, who knows what was planned but scrapped before it was implemented/got deleted outright.
Some of the stuff that went unused but is still in the game files is interactions with Steve Scriggins, the one shot gator from the first Gregg hangout. Originally you could find him in a run down building ripping copper out of walls to resell, and talk to him.

He and Mae would have little dialogue spats until Scriggins finally gets pissed on the 4th or 5th visit. He asks Mae why she even shows up and why she hates him so much.
She tells him he was a massive dick in High School, and he says maybe I was but you're still a massive dick and almost murdered someone, so stop preaching to me and fuck off or I'll make you fuck off. To which she scoffs and calls his bluff he's not going to actually get aggressive, but she otherwise shuts up and you can't interact with him after that. (paraphrased)
I think that was cut mostly because this would have been around the same time they're trying to delve more into Mae's issues and portray her as a tragic character to be pitied. And it'd be a little hard to keep pitying her after the guy she thinks is literally Hitler tells her off and she has no retort except to call his bluff.
