Just imagine, Lacy growing up shunned by her school because of her other classmate's parents telling them to stay away. But Lacy gets her lucky break in 7th grade when she tries out for the school's team. People see that despite what their parents were telling them, she was just a sweet girl who was dealt a bad hand.

She makes friends, actually does things other than mope around at home, and even gets a little popular because of her soccer skills.

All for it to lead up to her coach asking her to stay after practice, even giving her a phone to call home to say she'd be late.

It'd make for a pretty great story.

Can we just talk about what a huge waste of potential Dance Dance Resolution was? Where do I begin?

So at the beginning we learn that Lincoln's nerdy redhead friends also know that he likes Ronnie-Anne. I guess that makes sense. Other than them though, it seems like it's a secret from everyone else. And that's the first leap of logic - why would Lincoln worry about Ronnie-Anne asking him to the dance where everyone could see them? And why would he think she'd ask him in the cafeteria... where everyone could see them?

But hey, it's just a cartoon, right? There's no continuity here, okay, so let's just look at the episode all on its own, and say there isn't some big deal about Lincoln and Ronnie-Anne being public knowledge. Now he'd have a reason to believe she'd ask him to the dance, okay. Then on his way home, he could be like "Wait! If I go to the arcade tonight, my sisters will know I dodged Ronnie-Anne and they'll clobber me! Gotta think fast!" And then he could lie or something about how she never asked him like what happened in the episode. So moving on, Lincoln's gonna go to the arcade and then he learns FOUR of his sisters set him up with a date for the dance. Now here's where things really go off the rails. It's to my understanding that the sisters are REALLY pushing for Lincoln and Ronnie-Anne to be a couple, they see romance and all that stuff. And yet their solution to make him feel better is to set him up with one of their friends? Wouldn't that have the possibility of Ronnie-Anne finding out and getting jealous and pissed off and breaking up with Lincoln? I mean, when it has the weight of being "the most important dance of a girl's life", it kinda feels that's something that could happen. I'm not even gonna go into how they never talked between each other about setting up a date, that can be left in because it's funny.

Now I could be done complaining about this, but really I'm just getting started. To be continued in another comment.

Okay, so now the sisters are pushing Lincoln to go because they don't want their friends to feel stood up. That's fine. But all the dialogue with "you did this to yourself" doesn't make any sense and just feels like some half-baked way to say Lincoln messed up. Do the writers not understand their own episode? I mean I think it's already clear that we know Lincoln's bad for weaseling around Ronnie-Anne, but it's not his fault his sisters set him up with four dates. He never asked or implied he wanted a date to the dance. So how is it his problem again? You could leave in the sisters dialogue, but have Lincoln object and say "My problem? How is this my problem! You set it up!" And then you could have some angry crosstalk between him and his sisters before doing a wipe to a shot of Lincoln looking weary, but smiling as he takes his raffle ticket.

I really feel like that if the sisters are that invested in giving their friends a good time and making sure Lincoln has a good time, too, that they'd go to the dance to make sure it happens. They're known for meddling, so why not! Wackier things have happened in the show, right?

So instead, re-arrange the episode. Lincoln gets his raffle ticket first, then talks to his nerd friends, then that's when you hear Clyde talking to him through his earpiece to set-up that he's there. Then have Clyde give some pep talk to four grumpy sisters.

>"Now look, I know everyone's not in the best mood, this isn't an ideal situation, I get it! But we're all here now, and my man is out there on the line, so we're all gonna work together to make sure he gets out in one piece, okay? I'll give Lincoln directions, and you can help me with the intel."

Then you'd have each sister point out where their friend is and give info and set the spark that they're going to start fighting each other later on for who Lincoln should give attention to while Clyde acts like an overworked air traffic controller.

He worried about being asked "period", not necessarily being asked in a public area, and he worried about being asked in the cafeteria because that's when all the classes merge and people get to talk. It's not about the "secret" about who likes who, the conflict comes from Lincoln not wanting to be asked at all to spare hurt feelings, especially publicly turning them down, and wanting to go play games. It comes from Lincoln's own presumption that Ronnie Anne's going to ask him.

From their side, Lincoln didn't get asked by Ronnie Anne so the Ronnie Anne ship has sailed: meaning with their knowledge she's not interested and there'd be no thought of her getting jealous. What some people seem to not get is that Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were NEVER DATING, not once in this show's history, and thoughts that they were stem entirely from the people outside their 'relationship' labeling them as such. To cheer him up their line of reasoning is akin to just getting back on the horse, and not wanting him to miss out on his first dance, or something like that.

That, and they don't really need to talk to each other about it if it's their own plan. It's not like it was meant to be a group effort.

So anyway, blah blah blah, episode can continue on as usual, Lincoln improvises his overextended self by setting up the nerds with the four girls he was with. Then Lincoln can switch out with his nerds inbetween the four girls, and that's when Clyde spirals into a state of extreme stress before he finally just faints. The sisters look at each other, and then the available mic Clyde has. They'd fight for it! Knock each other around, interrupting each other, telling Lincoln conflicting statements and that's when you'd have the earpiece finally bust, say Lincoln gets so turned around that he bumps against a table and his earpiece crackles out in the punch bowl. Busted. The four girls approach Lincoln and ask what the hell is happening, and he'd cower and spill the beans.

Then what could happen is the four girls could be relieved and say they don't feel bad about enjoying themselves with his nerd friends, and they go their separate ways. Whew, mission accomplished. And THEN have Ronnie-Anne tap him on the shoulder. "Been busy, huh?" Lincoln would freak out and apologize for dodging her and say that he should have just been direct with her, and that he'd be ready to have a good dance. Ronnie-Anne would just go into a laughing fit and say "I just wanted to ask if you wanted to go to that 2-for-1 arcade thing tonight! You make things way too complicated!"

They both have another laugh. Fade to a shot of them drinking punch. Ronnie Anne would say she's flattered that Lincoln's sisters are passionate about them being a couple, but she wants to take it at their own comfortable pace. Lincoln agrees. That's when you hear slow dance music, and then you have that fakeout that shows them playing DDR in the arcade.

Now if this sounds like a lot for 11 minutes, that's because this episode should have been a half-hour. There's a lot of characters involved and a lot of comedic potential. But no, we got an episode that didn't make no sense. Barf.

I agree in how setting him up and then getting mad about it being a bit harsh from our perspective, but he really did.
Instead of saying that he didn't want to go he did the same thing he does in "No Such Luck", overplay to the emotions/thoughts of the sister(s) so that he can get what he wants. His own words were akin to "I'm so sad that Ronnie Anne didn't ask me to the dance, I was really looking forward to going", which only gave the sisters reason to think he really did want to go.

And if I recall, there was some crosstalk with how Lincoln said he didn't even want to go, adding more just to get to the same conclusion would be a waste of time, because the main effect is still there "Lincoln lied to his sisters -> Sisters got him dates so he wouldn't feel bad -> Sisters find out about lie -> Sisters want him to go on dates so the girls don't feel bad -> Lincoln explains that he didn't want to go or ask for date -> Sisters say 'tough' -> Lincoln goes to dance", is pretty much what already happened.

The sisters don't need to go because the focus isn't on them, but the situation that (though mainly by the sisters) was still brought up by Lincoln. They don't need to monitor because it's Lincoln who needs to deal with the cards he's been dealt with, and they don't really care how he does it. If in your case Clyde is still doing the same thing, trying to rearrange the episode to include the sisters only clutters the main focus being "Lincoln, the dates, Ronnie Anne, and The Dance setting" and how the situation is handled and eventually diffused. In this case, adding the sisters is completely pointless, and doesn't add to the story or the plot anymore. The episode makes sense. Even if the sisters were a bit irrational, it was good.

Yeah, it breaks down the same way, but the execution I wrote about is different, less complicated, and doesn't require leaps of logic. There's a difference, there. And I think his sisters being who they are would absolutely want to be involved because it's not just their brother, but their friends' feelings that are at stake, too. They set up some high stakes to just suddenly NOT do anything about it.

I'm sure an argument could be made that the sisters find the situation too awkward to involve themselves with it, but hey, it's a cartoon, what would be funnier? For them to interfere or not to interfere?

It does still requires some leap of logic because these four sisters of differing ages are sneaking themselves into a 4(?)th grade dance to help their brother. It actually gets MORE complicated, because the episode requires the viewer to be keeping up with Lincoln, the sisters, the dates, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, and the nerd friends, and if this is extended to 30 minutes, it's pretty stretched out.

The main thing you're asking for is an episode about a meddling family and a sisters, but if you still try to keep the main theme of the episode as pitched (the relationship between Lincoln and Ronnie Anne, a look in to the school and how it runs, and the morals of don't lie and communicate), it gets dilated, even if you do a full 30 minute episode.

There are certainly a lot of funny moments that can come from the sisters interfering, but with an episode you have to think about what the main focus is and what's essential to it, which the sisters, specifically, aren't.

Actually, my only agreement is that how the sisters treated Lincoln could've been better, but I understand why they might've chosen to do so (wanting to focus on the bad points of lying and miscommunication rather than giving Lincoln an obstacle to come out on top of and look like a hero for lying). But he DID. He wasn't straight with his sisters so they were going to feel bad if he did go to the dance alone. 9 times out of 10 if you're going to a school dance, you're going with friends or associates, Not every event has to be a "date" date. was it the right thing to do? I don't think so, but it was a good thing they were looking out for him like always.

The the problem built up when they thought he was still going to the dance solo, and who wouldn't want to do that, right? But hey, they're kids, they do these things because they don't know better.
