Nick is definitely tall for his species; take into account the general "max" height and body length of red foxes, minus a few inches for the flatfoot instead of standing on toes and the snout pointing 90 degrees away from the body, and Nick is basically near the top height of his kind. It seems that in Zootopia smaller species tends to be bigger than they feral counterparts and viceversa for larger species: they tend to normalize around human height.

On pavement, hooves can and will crack, which is very painful. Imagine walking on your toe nails. Horse shoes are supposed to alleviate that, though I think they are uncomfortable for the horse, but certainly less so than a cracked hoof.

The reason I Will Survive is failing on character interpretation so hard is because the author will flip the sides later. Nick will convince Judy to give the baby a chance, they'll go to the doctor and find out it's risky but Judy is still steeled on her decision. Comic will timeskip to some hours after the birth, the doctor will say that unfortunately Judy will be unable to be a cop or whatever anymore due to complications, Nick will feel horrible but Judy will be happy she didn't abort.

Usually I hate to name drop, but I really dislike some of SophieWitch's works for this very reason.
