>>8735757
Yes it's zir. Ze's art never improved even after all this time.
>>8736470
please don't tell me they use that pronoun bullshit
I've been watching arania for about a decade now too and aside from the occasional cute or interesting human pose/expression, their figures generally very inconsistent. there isn't anything too glaring anatomy/proportion wise, but there are some really oddly constructed pics.
What really bothers me is the commissions she accepts, instead of drawing hot lewds and sequences that are enjoyable, it's always some autistic faggot with a lot of money making her draw some stupid fucking seqeunce. she has 'the cabin in the woods' sequence which is at the very least interesting, but the last like, 5~6 months has been devoted to a comic about turning furrres into different kind of furries, and it's absolute trash.
>>8741021
Yeah, maybe one sequence per month is good, and the viewer on the website is shit. You can't zoom in to see the text if you are on a laptop. But at least there's a site index and consistently named sequences that made writing a script to download and sort everything easy.

>>8741021
How can you not improve even a LITTLE bit after drawing for a solid decade? If you go to her website and see her earliest stuff it looks just like what she draws now.
>>8764656
Years and years of people telling you that what you're drawing is perfect. Combine that with ignoring, or literally blocking all criticism.
>>8764656
I'm a furshit artist too, and I look back at the stuff I drew 10 years ago. While the anatomy, the consistency etc has improved immensely, the style is surprisingly the same. It's really easy to get comfortable with a particular style, and just refining it with practice, and also there is a certain work flow/methodology that everyone has in their heads to construct an polish an image.
Arania has improved, but it's pretty subtle. The big thing is that she doesn't refine or clean up her work, so everything looks like chicken scratch, given she (or he or xir or whatfuckingever) just uses pencils, and no hard lines. I'm pretty impressed at the sheer volume of work being produced, there is easily around 30~50 separate images a month being created, and then scanned, organized, and uploaded so it's a fulltime job I'd imagine.
the positives I would give her is that the some of poses are kinda neat, and it's the actual transformation details are pretty clear as to what is going on.
>>8764656
She probably doesn't even see this as art anymore. If you show up to a job and get paid the same amount for busting your ass or slacking off (and it's a job you hate), you're probably not going to give a shit. We can probably safely assume that she looks at how stupid some of these commission ideas are, laughs to herself, and then just shrugs and draws it at minimum effort.
We need to see more MUNDANITY and inconvenience in tf art. Most of my fantasies these days are set in a post-apocalypse, where wanderers run afoul of toxic waste or mutagenic insect bites that turn them into oversexed monsters. That's not the end of the story though, because they still have to find or catch breakfast in the morning! You better drink all that breast milk you're pumping out, you can't afford to lose the water. You have to figure something out with the clothing situation, the world is not kind to bare feet or naked asses. But now your arms are turning into tentacles, how are you supposed to tailor anything or use your rifle? All of this on top of the fact that you can't stop thinking about sex, and your girlfriend is frothing from all her lips while she rambles in your ear about bearing a strong brood. Maybe it's not all bad. Maybe you become monstrously strong, or you can run 40mph, or you gain some bizarre asset like telepathy or the ability to eat plastic. If it's enough to keep you mostly well-fed and safe from predators you could happily fuck yourself into a coma every night before bed. Sexy, funny, interesting, the potential is all there.
None of that sounds like "mundanity", but this setting is the only one I've found that works if you want subjects to cope with their circumstances long term. There aren't as many people around who can help you or sell you a special custom thing. You're doomed to endure the transformations while you look after the necessities of life. Your daily routine isn't even really disrupted, whereas it would be if you tried to buy groceries as a seven-foot tall velociraptor humanoid with six dripping breasts. It's a damn shame though, seeing how fun it would be to imagine someone like that trying to do relatable chores or errands.
Concepts, scenarios, suggestions, or stories where this sort of post-tf struggle plays a role in the narrative are all things I'd be happy to hear about.
>>8767752
it use to be most stories WERE like that in some way, back in the 2000s. Some curse, serum, etc on a person turning them slowly into an animal or the opposite gender over the course of a day and they frantically try to keep it a secret.
Don't ask me for links, I not sure if I could ever find them again. Can't even remember the names of those old sites except for docs lab and not sure if thats still kicking. I know it lost tons of old stories and kept deleting stories cause the original authors requested it.
With how much of a boner Hollywood has for adapting and re-adapting literature (especially public domain stuff), you'd think someone would try to take a whack at a more modern film based on "The Island of Doctor Moreau".
>>8779886
The last time they tried it was that Val Kilmer+Marlon Brando abomination that probably scared off anyone else from trying.
>>8779886
It's not for lack of trying; there's been a number of movie adaptations. I don't think there's been a really successful classic literature adaptation lately though, so studios might be reticent.
It's also worth it to note that Moreau is actually about turning animals into humans, and not the other way around. There's like one movie where it was the opposite and it stuck in public consciousness for whatever reason.
>>8786700
Another artist that has been drawing for years but never really improved.
>>8787265
A good number of artists I've been following for years are in that category.
>>8787265
the difference with naga though is their style ALMOST has a charm to it. Like it just needs a little bit of refining to make it so that it feels like something that could never truly be 'dated' because it is their style.Just right on the border of being a 'style' that excuses never 'improving' like Toriyama.
>>8787899
I'd actually agree with this. Naga hasn't changed for a decade, but at least his skill and quality is all right and he's not getting any worse. He doesn't have to get better, but I get triggered how he refuses to draw backgrounds and keeps using these jarring, filtered photographs.
But I mean honestly, are there any transformation artists out there that actually keep showing improvement? I can't recall one that doesn't eventually reach a point and just say "this is good enough, whatever".
>>8699954
don't forget /tg/
>>8788116
>eventually reach a point and just say "this is good enough, whatever".
Goes for the whole furry fandom really, regardless of the fetish or subject.
There are only a handful of artists who don't trade improvement and dreams of becoming a great artist for quick buck from commissions.
And this has led to the standards of furries becoming downright nonexistent and leads to artists wanting to put even less effort into improving.
I can sort of understand it though.
It really sucks drawing a full shaded picture with a background, only to see your customer go and pay 3x more for a god damn YCH single character slot.
Or having the commissioner gripe about the price of cleaned up lineart "But those other artists charged me only 10$ per sketch :(, why are you asking for three times as much?"
Takes a bit of mental fortitude to keep on pushing yourself to improve, when the customer is willing to give the same amount of money for 10x less work.
Difference between a sketch and cleaned up lineart is immense, but the borderline blind fandom sees them both as sketches of the same quality.
Once I even had a commissioner telling me that I don't need to throw in the background and shading and he'd give me the full price.
He just wanted more art as fast as possible and wanted to move to the next commission.
You could say that improvement in the fandom after a certain point, is basically you turning down same amount of money for a lot less work.
And it's hard to resist for most people, especially if you don't have a clear goal of working in the professional art industry or something, where you actually need skills to make it.
>>8790191
>>8790230
>>8790132
Yeah, I get that. I draw for leisure, but I'm not under the same pressure as these guys trying to live off their work. Just kind of disappointed that the transformation community only has a handful of good artists but none that are outstandingly amazing. Like you can take one look at something like normal nudity, dickgirls, or monstergirls and there are some professional-grade, jaw-dropping stuff from possibly hundreds of artist - and they're under the same draw-porn-for-a-living circumstances.
>>8790132
There is no reason to improve past a certain point because the furry endgame is just to make a living off of commissions, comics and Patreon. If not that, then to create a piece of work the artists probably dreams of doing. Very seldom does that project come to fruition because people change, and often times just give up after the effort and criticism they receive with little or no reward from drawing. Regardless of how gorgeous these artists can present their images and ideas, furry will never be regarded as 'high' or elegant art because there is just too much sex and fetish in it.
So instead you have art programs that hide all of the shitty technique with filters/smoothing/resize/transform/adjustment layers, and you have every artist following some cute or unusual trend that pops up for a few months or weeks and vanishes. Instead you have copycat styles that proliferate because they are easy to emulate, don't require subtlety, and hide many of the glaring flaws not found in any type of well-constructed drawing. In addition, there are numerous AMAZING furry artists out there, but you'll never hear about them or see their artwork because oh hey, Kaylana is starting drama again, or Adam Wan drew a buttfuck pic, or WolfyNail made a journal about gender-pronouns. So for the majority of casual furry viewers, that stupid attention is way more entertaining and eventually becomes encouraged.
I believe this is the conflict between modernism and post-modernism that clashes in art all the time. Modernism is the well crafted, hundreds of hours of work and mastery that only comes from practice and discipline, and for a time that received merit and reward. But much of furry art is post-modernist and where anything with a boobs and vagina is equally as valid and appealing as an image that took a lot of time and energy. Both are fine, but somewhat disappointingly, a 30 minute sketch of wolves fucking can be way more appealing than a 200 hour pic of a fox in a garden.

I feel once an artist has develo9ped their style, something you look at and go, 'that is an ___ work' it is very hard to 'improve' significantly past that. It is how you draw now, and drawing outside of that specialization looks weird. And it's not just the furry community or even just fandoms in general. You see it in the professional industries too, I mentioned Toriyama earlier. Such a simplistic style, easy to copy, dated, everything seems recycled after so many years he ran out of different faces his style could create. But it is HIS, and he gets paid for HIS style and god help you if you try to make something using HIS style in the professional industries. Sure he doesn't have a copy right, but you will be looked down upon as a thief.
So I think its a bit unfair to look at it with the mindset of 'this is good enough, whatever'. I see two camps the furry artists eventually hit, the 'good enough whatever' camp as you worded it, and people like say Mamabliss who can't really improve without changing what makes their style their own personal call sign of quality.

The after part of a TF is my favorite part and it's probably why I like TF games with some sense of persistence to them. Though most of those games make TFs mainly cosmetic and not much else which is kind of disappointing.
I'm looking for a specific story (or other stories like it). It was set in the monstergirl universe, with a girl who knows the usual male protagonist (the one who gets all the adventures and fucks all the monsters). She wants to prove she's just as tough and capable, but on her first encounter she comes across a monstergirl that overpowers her and starts changing her into a monstergirl too (through sexing). I think it was a werecat or something of the sort. It was hot as hell, but I can't remember where I first read it.

I always laugh when someone say something like that, how they somehow think they can read the mind of people they have barely interacted with and only through internet.
>>8788116
>But I mean honestly, are there any transformation artists out there that actually keep showing improvement? I can't recall one that doesn't eventually reach a point and just say "this is good enough, whatever".
You know, "finding your style" doesn't mean people refuse to improve.
>>8815618
honestly I wouldn't put him in the same category for comparing. We could argue about just how much of a 'tf artist' he actually is since he doesn't really draw the actual transformation that much, but the main reason for not putting him in the same category is that he is a webcomic artist.
webcomic artists are much more likely to consistently show improvement in their art over the years without much stopping in the improvement then an artist who only draws on commissions. Yes I know there are plenty out their who still suck with their art, or those who have turned very questionable design choices into a key part of their 'unique style', but if they have been doing webcomics since the 2000's I am having trouble thinking of one who has not been constantly improving.
Even Misfile shows significant improvement over time as long as you can ignore the fact he seems to think an appealing art style is chins and noses that look like they were produced by inbreeding the love children of Jay Leno and the cast of Utena.
most likely reason why these artists show much greater improvement then a commission artist like Arania who puts out a comparable amount of art as they do for just as long, is characters. They have the same characters they keep drawing for YEARS. They are soon able to crank out that character far faster then they did before, which allows room for improving the art, and they just keep getting faster and faster. And because these are constant characters in their mind, they have much more time over the years to keep fleshing out how they visualize the character rather then something being made once.
>>8828678
Ehhhh, I've yet to see a style from a dedicated TF artist get to a point where you find it immensely impressive. I'm talking about shit that's as good as this. And you find this level of quality in multiple styles - western, painted, whatever - regularly in other fandoms, even super-fringe ones.
