I dunno man. People tend to go coocoo with too much free time and not enough to do. Even if you're hanging out with friends, chances are that they're off doing their own things at some point or another, and having literally NOTHING else going on in your life is likely to make you become boring, really fast.
As strange as this sounds, I think work keeps us SANE, as it gives up some motivation to contribute. Non-contributors are rarely happy. Most of those Pepes bragging about how comfy they are are probably also suffering from the standard list of 4chan problems. Anxiety, Autism, depression, tfw noqt3.14, furryism, etc.
Eternally following a quest for happiness is kind of pointless. Fulfillment is the better alternative.

Oh man you just said something incredibly interesting right now actually. I had a mental break down a month ago due to my current friendship status and literally have a ridiculous amount of free time in my life.

My solution was as I said, I started indulging in my interests and hobbies, finding more friends and going to threads like this, other discord chats, putting myself out there with writing, the list goes on.

With more free time came the need to find more ways to fullfill it, and sense work can't do it those + other things have been my solution.

The result as been that my sanity is restored and I barley suffer from anything close to what i was a month or two ago, it wasn't an easy path but I did do it myself. But there's still a balance i'd say, to much work becomes stress and misery.

The point I was trying to make is that those kinds of jokes really shut someone down, don't really leave a lot to work with conversationally, especially if you want to share an opinion, and if you're a low self-esteem kind of person it really DOES make you feel like the guy saying those things doesn't value your opinion. It probably wouldn't, but its just my rule that all read throughs, audiobooks, critiques, etc. are done by request of the author; I would hate for anyone to feel bad that I read their work, whether it was through critique or as an audiobook, without their permission, so having the request rule is just my way of making I don't stir any waters.

I'm sorry to disappoint! Its just a silly rule I have to make sure there's no drama, but I feel like its an important one. The worst thing I could imagine with causing some sort of stir between people because 'comicanon read my thing without me asking' or 'comicanon critiqued my story and said all these bad things about it, why'd he bully me?', you know? I feel like its the respectful thing to do.
