I've read this story completely on FF, and overall...the story seems...shallow? Not sure of the right word to use, but it felt like it really tried to do something, gave up half way down the road, and just went "screw it, finishing it here."

Also "Nick and Judy have horrible communication issues" trope blah blah blah, moving on.

Starting with Judy; her asking out Jack to get a reaction out of Nick was uncharacteristic. It was one thing for Judy to use Nick in the movie, when he was a jerk and he was her only lead and she still had that unconscious bias against foxes, but using a friend doesn't seem like something Judy would do. Past that is the idea that Judy wouldn't gather the courage to just ask Nick how he feels. Maybe the reasoning could be that romance is something she hasn't dealt with before, so her normal attitude may ship in the face of it, but still.

The whole "Are you sure you are ok with this?" Jack and Judy ask Nick during the first chapter is something that bugs me; what does any normal sane person expect someone to say? "No, I am not ok with you two going out, because I like her." That is an asinine response; someone asked someone else out, would anyone really expect them to take that back and go "Oh nevermind, I'll go out with this person instead!"

Jack being observant was a slightly unexpected twist; there was something up with him from the get-go since his behavior didn't scream "Oh Judy Hopps asked me out? YES!" I was expecting a bit more hurt from his side, since he was essentially being used. I was expecting more of a mastermind slowly manipulating WildeHopps to happen somehow.

Overall, if I had to summarize my thoughts on the story, it would have to be the first half felt a bit contrived, while the second half felt too abrupt and sudden.

The idea behind Judy doing something so dramatic was more so the context of both being stuck in a hospital bed and being left to long to her own devices, combined with the fact she never got the feeling that Nick at any point had the same feelings for her when they were together. And she would be partially right sense another part of the story was delving into the idea that Nick himself didn't really realize how much he even cared about im until an event like that happened. That being said once I had the idea, i knew execution of said idea would be a difficult one considering the intial thought would be "why would judy do this over asking him out?". I tried my best to make it seem plausible under that specific situation but it is still kind of ar fetched.

As far as Jack's "are you ok with this", that was supposed to be the hint that Jack from the very beginning was seeing that something wasn't right, he was already getting suspicious of Nick and had always assumed the two of them would get together, not him and Judy.
Plus.. it is kind of just a one off line i just sort of wanted to include in there admitidly.

As far as the slight aburptness, I thought I did a decent job at making an atleast somewhat satisfying even if dramatic conclusion to the story, but you were right in that I spread myself to thin. I was writing yet another weekly story at the exact same time and did lose a little bit of my motivation, kind of wanted to just focus on one story at a time.
