Awhile back, anon requested a reformed Duke story. Someone offered to do it, but nothing came to fruition. So that's where I come in. It's a oneshot, set during one night years later, two characters, and with the TT theme overarching.

However, I still have concerns. Reading over, I need to pepper more humor into it, and reduce the stiffness of the words and rhythm, like there's some paragraphs of info-dumping. Probably will change it so it's up to your imagination then.

Sometimes its important to look at why its not getting the reception you were hoping for.
- Is it long? Readers are more likely to read something shorter than longer. A 2,000 word story will be more approachable than an 8,000 word story.
- Does it star OCs? As much as many people here like OC driven stories, there will always be people (especially offsite) who are only in it for the continued wacky shipping adventures of foxe and bune.
- Is it a different tone than the movie? We might have thematic thursday and like different genres, but, again, many people aren't looking for something that completely changes the tone set by the movie.
- How have you been shilling it? There is a reason marketers are paid big bucks, and its not just because they know how to market themselves! Shilling is an art: an elevator pitch and a snappy image (even if its not fanart or drawn by yourself) can set the mood and introduce new readers into your story.
- Perhaps your expectations were miss aimed for where your skill level is? We would all like to write the next Pack Street or draw the next Late Stake, but remember that Weaver (this is just an example and applies to many other creators) has been committed to his art for decades. Likewise, you might be serving a niche audience, rather than a general audience: you might not get the huge number of fans that come from writing soft-cover WildeHopps, but the readers you do have may be committed to you alone.
Food for thought. In the end, don't beat yourself up about it, and feel free to speak your mind. Its always better to get it out there than bottle it up.

The latter had to stop when Lassiter & Pixar said that everyone would fucking hate the prey and city of Zootopia with the original idea and strongly suggested a rewrite. And also got Rich Moore to reign the two in.

With the former, NW had several scenes that worked really well, since they were essentially based on the original script. Then she hit the same roadblock that the Disney team did, and decided to overextend herself by simultaneously drown in the darkness of apathy and inject tumblr politics into the story.

Seeing brainwashed collar zombies, mixed with replacing Swinton with Bellwether and the Cud Club so #notallprey wouldn't be seen as awful people.

And the cherry: Nick & Judy couldn't just be a straight couple, being a male & female who were attracted to each other. They had to be SPECIAL: thus they are pansexual since they date outside their species, and Nick trying to deny that attraction caused Gwen (not Becky, sorry!) to feel oppressed because that would make her attraction to women less special.

I feel ungrateful for what /ztg/ has given me. Because of it, I've become a much better artist and writer.

There are fans that do love what I write. It probably makes up a great portion of the motivation I have for writing. If they knew that I had disregarded their praise be writing these posts, they'd probably walk away from me right now.
