Tom kind of plays loose with the timeline regarding Kat's age, too. Eric supposedly got her when he was either a kid or a teenager, and if the two of them "grew up together," even if Kat was still a baby she'd probably be middle-aged in Keidran years. She's depicted as being young both physically and in level of maturity, though-- not much older than Flora.

Two Kinds is sort of like Enemy Mine in that you have races from opposing factions finding a way past their differences to become friends and/or even lovers rather then mortal enemies in a world at total war

Euchre x Mary
and Eric x Kat (lets face it Kat isn't over Eric and Eric while oblivious at very least loves Kat as family so even if they never bang they are still two races which should oppose eachother coming together)

On a side note does anybody think that the templar keeping a Basitin slave (Vehra) will eventually come back to bite them in the ass? I mean the Templar already tried to lobotomize the Basitin but not all the generals believe it, if they get proof that they are keeping Basitin citizens as slaves that'd be all they'd need to declare war and it'd be pretty hard for the other generals to deny.

Out of all the races the only one which remains largely neutral at the moment are the Basitins and they don't seem all eager for war even when they were just attacked. It'd take something truly major to make them choose a side and enter the war

If the child takes on characteristics primarily of the mother then that means that in the end it's kind of a draw, because if a male human with a female basitin or keidran produces a basitin or keidran with some of the father's characteristics, then a male keidran or basitin with a human female would produce a human with some of the father's characteristics.

A species's population is limited by the number of females available. Females are limited in how many babies they can each give birth to, while there is no limit on the number of children that a man can sire (a sizeable portion of the world's populace are direct descendants of Gengis Khan, for example). The only way to make humans go extinct would be to somehow convince human women to stop having sex, and even in the most extreme scenario where all the human men have abandoned them, then it stands to reason that there are a bunch of Keidran and Basitin men who can no longer find mates of their own species and will start looking at the human women with a lot more interest.

In the end what would happen is you'd have a bunch of humans, basitins and keidran with mixed ancestry but eventually nature would find an equilibrium for what the population of each race is.

Oh there would no doubt be lots of humans born from a human mother and father, but you'd be hard pressed to identify which humans have no keidran or basitin in their ancestral tree because outwardly they wouldn't look any different from any other humans. They would have inherited certain traits from their beast-race ancestors, though, which would be more apparent if you spent time with them. A human with a wolf ancestor might have an exceptionally keen sense of smell and be a good hunter, for example. The same would also hold true for Keidran and Basitins who have human ancestors-- like, a Basitin whose father was a human gifted with magic might be able to actually become a mage without frying their brain.

Eric is going to have to do something to redeem himself if he's going to have any future with Kat. In general I'm willing to give every story one "gimme" in terms of a stale or illogical plot device as long as they don't take it too far. Unfortunately Twokinds has a bunch of them, but I'm willing to look past it for reasons I can't exactly describe.

In that regard though, it's not like they have multiple characters with amnesia or a character getting their memory erased multiple times to cover up for sloppy writing. That's the kind of thing that makes me want to slam my head on the desk.

In the case of Men in Black I don't mind, because erasing people's memory is the central plot device for how the agency is able to cover up alien sightings without having to kill people, rather than characters conveniently getting hit on the head and not being able to remember the last 24 hours of their life (i.e. the "Smallville" model). That's a lazy way to put a bandaid over a poorly written story, rather than actually using memory loss as a plot point. Memento is also a story of memory loss done well.

I want it to have some value as practice. Barring access to a live model for reference, RL photos are the next best thing. Using another artist's drawing as reference really just gives you someone else's mistakes/simplifications/stylizations to copy.

The ref doesn't have to be the exact pose you're looking for in a request. Changing bust size, moving an arm or a leg to a different position, little changes like that are fine. But change too much, and then I'm practicing only the stuff that's in my head instead of improving what's in my head by practicing from a good reference.
