Hey, you guys are making me blush. To answer the question, if I had to guess I'd say it's because I'm a professional, not a hobbyist (ignore how snotty that makes me sound) and I've put a serious amount of time into practicing and perfecting my writing. It's not the absolute best by any means but I like to think it's a cut above the typical fanfiction you'll find usually. The comment about it being formulaic sometimes is definitely true, though, and I'd pin that up, like you said, to the sheer amount of stories I've written. I looked at it all collectively the other day and it's a little over 155,000 words, which is longer than most commercial novels, or about a fifth of Infinite Jest. I think a little repetition is excusable at that point.

I don't think they're all supposed to happen at the same time anon. The way I see it is that the shark girl is when she's a teenager with Brill following that and finally her settling down with Anon much later but in all honesty I couldn't really give a fuck who she's doing as long as it's hot. It's just a fictional character so it doesn't necessarily need to follow any logical rules. Personally I like to think of the stories as more singular stories than a continuing story but the writefag has said they have some kind of plan to merge them all into a larger novel so I suppose they have a plan.

It's kind of you to say but it really doesn't feel like much to me. I mean, I think when you're passionate about the character and the stuff you're creating you end up thinking about how everything links together, if it does. Like for instance I figured that someone eventually would ask for some swap stuff so I had been kicking around this idea that I'd have fell Undyne as Undyne's estranged older sister or something like that, but nobody ended up making that request (somewhat surprisingly I think). Just things like that, you know? I just find it really satisfying tying everything together.

Could be something as inconsequential as cracking his knuckles often, smiling crooked, snorting when he laughs too hard.
Maybe Undyne used to be a total raucous hothead but has since become more sarcastic/rational in the way she speaks because he's rubbed off on her.

Whatever you think would be fun. You're more creative than I am obviously, those are just examples.

What I mean is that I haven't done the setup that would make the story work well. 'You' doesn't have any identifiable traits besides being laidback, nothing as defined as smiling a particular way or snorting or whatever. The only way this story works well is if he has some already pre-established. I could make some up just for the story but if I did that it'd just feel artificial and phony, I guarantee it.

I'll still do it if you want me to, but I really don't think it'd turn out well.

Was that your intention?
To make it a little less bleak because everyone was bummed out by how dispassionate she was originally?

I kind of like the idea of them meeting like this a lot, as opposed to in high school, YMCA or in that alley fight.
Her starting off all cold and military here, then gradually softening up into the genuine goofball Undyne from the rest of your stories would be pretty cute.
It would be especially effective from this first person perspective, because you could show the gradual change in her attitude first hand through the way she thinks to herself.

Plus, the whole 'forbidden love', human being hunted down and her hiding him part adds a lot of drama and romance to it.
And it makes use of her backstory as a royal guard which is nice.

You should do more of this stuff sometime, it's pretty neat.

Sorry, I kind of rushed it in the end. For some reason these drawing requests always pile up on the weeks when I don't have a lot of free time. So I try drawing in the morning and it doesn't get finished, then it nags at my mind the entire day and then I draw during the night when I'm tired. I feel like I could've made something more beautiful if I just had time.

This isn't how I imagined this scene but every time I drew a close up of Fukus face it just looked ridiculously stupid haha, so I gave up. I think that story works better in written form in the end. It's a lot of emotion and not a lot of visual stuff.
