Someone needs to leak the kickstarter zine. Any of you faggots back it?


>Not a whole lot. It's very thin and is only about 20 pages total. It's made by a bunch of artists doing usually a page or two of art for the game. Some are little comics that tell a story, others are just art of the characters humanized. Back during the game's development, when there was like next to nothing known/out about the game (this was before even Lost Constellation) it felt like a big deal, but now that the game is out, I don't feel like you're missing out too much by not having the zine. Some of it doesn't quite mesh with the final game, for example. But here is a basic rundown of what it is:

>-Opens with a college school assignment by Mae with her professor's edits/comments in pen. This first one goes into a bit of the history of Possum Springs (most of the information is in the HarFest scene). There's a story about mining strikes and how they would hang their boss (story in the game with the tooth and other strikes works better). It mentions a hotel in town that isn't really in the final game. Talks about Little Joe, etc. It is basically just setting things up that are further elaborated on in the game.

>-Next bit is comic that details a Gregg/Mae story. If you did his final hangout you'll remember a part where Mae asks if Gregg remembers the time they set the school on fire. This is that story fleshed out more.

>-Next bit is a two page thing on Bea which, imo, is the most beautiful part of the zine. It's hard to describe but it's basically just a thing about her feelings of hopelessness of graduating highschool but being stuck in the woods.

I don't know. I tend to hate visual novels unless there are a lot of choices. A lot of them have no real choice and you're just railroaded down a narrative I don't care about.

I loved NITW. It may be a visual novel in disguise, but it's a good disguise. It doesn't feel like a visual novel to me, and while the choices are similarly bullshit - 99% of the dialogue options don't matter - it felt important to me at the time.

I guess good writing makes a big difference.

It's just weird. Steve Scriggins was the first NPC they ever made for the game. He was important to them. He had a big role and did a lot of stuff. But then they relegate him to one small role in one-half of the game.

Some of the cut stuff I actually can understand, like the teenagers asking her why she dropped out and Mae saying she was heading for a nervous breakdown. That was cut because they wanted to nervous breakdown thing to be the big reveal later.

According to a kickstarter backer, in 2014, one animated short about Angus and Gregg was released. They described it as "lovely". A bea short was teased in 2015, but was never released. It's apparently still in development.
