It is pretty much a cluster fuck, and just a bunch of racist people pretending they are not racist for good-boy/girl/attackhelicopter points, along with hard working Americans getting shit on by welfare recipients. Seriously, why are stereotypes actually so accurate? I mean, one of my friends who is black acts like a person. Then these randos from the Ghettos act like they were raised from mud, treat everyone with little to no respect despite who they are (teachers included) and are typically just trashy. (By Ghettos I mean Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and Asians)

And I am a C/SGT and have been at this academy for four years now, and I must say those ghetto pieces of shit ruined our entire fucking unit! Formations used to be orderly, everyone shut the fuck up and did the right things, but no, these pieces of shit are so damned perplexed at the concept of silence cause all they can fucking do is chimp out all the damn time, they never wear their caps, never in proper uniform, do not respect our nations flag, do not respect our cadets who achieved high ranks-which used to be you had to fight through Heaven and Hell to get, now our new SAI hands ranks out like candy-and these degenerates want us to "respect" them!? I would rather kill off these useless worms to society, but unfortunately I lack the guts to take human life due to certain things such as my lacking a backbone, I can admit I am a coward especially after I resigned from my position as First Sergeant- a feat I do not regret- and I am not perfect. But those damned Ghetto trash pieces of shit ruined us all, out leaders, the cadet officers I salute and greet each day are tired and are morally crushed, NCOs are crumbling under this pressure asserted by those wretched people.

Damn it, I hate being so passionate towards my academy. I only wish I could have helped them. I wanted to teach them to be leaders, to break them from those horrific ideals they were brought up with. But I failed.

High School is different from a Military Academy, in fact a few HS JROTC units I had seen really pissed me off, and are the laughing stocks of our academy. I saw an image some kid took of his school, and Rifles were strewn about, a kid was on top of a table sleeping, and the one taking pictures hair was out of reg. I was pissed off just by the sight of such things, mostly because at our school we would be given Duck Walks (Carrying a rifle between your legs and waddling across the field), the Dying Cockroach (Lay on your back, arms and legs up and held there), Planks (Front leaning rest, but on your elbows and you may never touch the ground), 50-80 push-ups, IED Collecting (Picking up trash across the entire campus), and Deck Sweeping. So, seeing those pretentious assholes acting all high and mighty when we (my academy, at least a few years back) had sweat, bled and pushed for all that we can, really pisses me right the fuck off.
I may sound like an asshole, but damn it, I fought for what I believed in and so I better be damn proud of my accomplishments no matter what!

Sorry for the ranting, I just am really agitated by the thought of how easily it all was taken from us. And drawing as a passion never really helped, I stress over my art, and am never really happy with any outcomes. I also hate my voice, and yet strain myself to be a voice actor or singer, which neither can I do. I wish to animate, but I am incapable of doing so. I wish to illustrate or write a book, yet that will not happen in a long time. Really just kinda trapped with all this.

Either way though I wish to not crowd up too much space with my shitty little tangents. And I think I will just draw some random stuff for fun until I pass out.

Oh amigo, you should be thanking your parents for saving you from a lifetime of nightmares by not taking you to a day of the dead celebration as a kid. A real day of the dead celebration is not like those Oingo Boingo videos make it out to be. It includes going to the graveyard, digging out your loved ones from the ground, or pulling them off their crypts, and then proceed to thoroughly clean out the bones while praying, and then have lunch right there on the spot.
It's fucking terrifying and confusing as fuck walking throught the graveyard with a bunch of bones piled up all around and some half-decomposed bodies, and people happily having lunch.
I'd take kids dressed up as batman or whatever asking for candy at my doorstep anyday rather than that.

Remember these basic tips

For form:
>Work from big to small
>Visualize your target as best as possible before starting
>Everything is constructed from basic forms
>Forms can be shapes, basic 3d figures, or more complex structures
>Visualize how you can assemble your target with these forms
>Don't be afraid to redraw lines if they don't look right
>Feel curves in continuous strokes, no chicken scratch. Undo and redo if you fuck up

For perspective:
>Draw guidelines and vanishing points on an underlying layer
>Complex forms can be bound into simpler ones to help understand how perspective affects them

And overall:
>Use all tools at your disposal
>Don't be afraid to use references
>Even experienced artists can and will trash shit and start over if need be
>It takes time and trial and error to get things looking right

If you know all this then all you gotta do is draw a shitload, especially from reference (both irl and other artists) to help understand form, proportion, and perspective.

what do you do when polishing? I think you must be removing some subtle aspect present in your sketches when you clean them up.

For example, in my own drawings I figured out that due to how I sketch, a lot of "character" ends up in the line weights, which gets lost when I try to clean it up and make "nice" lines. I'm finding that it looks better if I retrace lines multiple times, and try to make very deliberate choices about line weight. And, with very small line weights, I'm starting to see the value in making "double lines" of the same weight where there would be a single line. It all takes a lot more thought than I'm used to, though, and I definitely need more practice at it.

Your skill levels are an interesting mishmash, you seem to understand some fundies really well and others not so well. Your gestures and proportions are actually decent, but I'd highly recommend trying to construct some reptillian heads from basic forms because it looks like you freehanded them without quite understanding how they work.

I don't know really. I can describe the process I follow.

I do construction first, using a combination of action lines for limbs and the spine as well as basic shapes like cubes, cylinders, cones. Whatever I need for a character.

Then I go over that one more time with sketchy lines to try and tie all the parts together.

Then I go over the sketchy lines with more deliberate, solid lines. I keep them as clean as my wrists can manage, I've tried different thickness in lines but haven't really worked out how to make that look good, usually I make more pronounced features have thicker lines, but at times that still doesn't produce a good looking drawing, so sometimes I avoid it.

One technique that can work well sometimes is to use line weight to indicate shadow-- the thicker the line, the more shadow there is at that edge. It's not always a desirable effect though

Another one I'm experimenting with is the idea of using line weight to indicate depth -- thicker means closer. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet, though. Here's a good video that explains it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0zl5NnEAyU

Really depends on where you are, last week in Minnesota we had a nice couple of days above 60°F and just this weekend we got more snow at like 20°F.
The people here are nice, winter's cold, summer's hot, and the hotdish is good year round. Biggest bummer is that no big geeky conventions come here besides maybe Animinneapolis, so if you want to meet Linkara IRL that's a thing. Also Wisconsin.
