theres about 25 people from what i saw in the kickstarter that paid to have their character in the game. I didn't follow the kickstarter, but when I looked at the kickstarter campaign, and the older trailer, a decent amount of stuff seemed to have already been made back then. What did they spend the three years in development on? The town was mostly designed. The story seemed in place, as they had stuff to show of the graveyard visit and the library visit and everything. so how do you edit the events in night in the woods?

Dialogues and some behavior are in plain text in game asset files, I'd assume that you either unpack those with some unity unpacker, edit and repack them back. It's mostly text but also covers some actions like character movements and animations, and has support for conditionals.

Animations/textures are in asset files too, but no idea how animations work.

Some behaviors are in Managed/Assembly-CSharp.dll, I haven't dug too deep but it's mostly various behavior scripts. You can decompile them but I'm not sure if the result would be enough to compile a new variant or you need the whole unity package thing installed.

I don't think I've seen a unity unpacker that gets you scenes so it's probably neigh impossible to edit those, unless there is one. Worst case scenario is Unity storing only baked scenes so you can't edit those at all.

I guess in the end it depends on what kind of custom events you want to do

Not that guy and yeah while I agree it's a bit silly, I still can't really agree with the devs choice on that one. I'm not a game dev but I used to write a long series of stories that had characters that would (or would not) hook up in them.

I'd get people asking does x like y or what will happen with x and z, etc, etc. Point is. I never...NEVER made the mistake of giving in-universe canon information that wasn't already presented in my story as 100% fact with nothing to debate. If two characters don't get together in the story, I will never say "they have no chance" because all that does is piss people off that wanted them to have a chance.

Nothing good can come of it and the game dev was straight up dumb for saying what they said about Mae and Bea. The game heavily hints that Bea is straight because it gives 0 indication of her liking girls, while Mae makes it clear she's cool with both. However the game never explicitly states "Bea has 0 interest in girls" so let your fans debate and speculate it, but going off the record and saying that she doesn't and her and Mae will never be a thing.
