It's true though. The villain lacks the depth the last two had and the way he beats him is the biggest Deus Ex Machina in the series (in the last two he wrecks the villains with a special technique but at least he already knew about the Wushi Finger Hold and actually did practice Inner Peace).

Also the whole reveal about the chi stuff with Pandas and that being the reason Oogway chose Po completely ruins the whole thing the first film went with. It was less destiny works in mysterious ways and more "lol I choose you because I know pandas can master chi" now.

I just don't really see how they can get better if they're already starting to decline as early as the third film. And there really isn't much to go with story-wise now either. Po's already mastered chi. All they can do now is add even tougher villains and even stronger powers. It's gonna turn into some anime-tier power levels thing soon.

It's not great but I found it entertaining. Some episodes are good and others are bad. The worst episodes were usually of the "Po does something retarded and spends the rest of the episode trying to fix it" variety, although there were a few of those that were at least tolerable.

The animation was also really terrible, especially when compared to the movies. The models look like shit and the animation itself is really choppy/jittery/overly-fast, at times.

Things get kind of strange when you realize that Po's biggest personality flaw is that he is extremely dishonest but no-one really seems to recognize it. They focus on him being clumsy and lazy, but he never actually gets taught a lesson about honesty, and if he does he forgets it as soon as he screws up again. The supporting cast gets angry about Po's clumsiness and bad judgment rather than the fact that he's lied to them for the umpteenth time, which seems unrealistic. Clumsiness is a much easier character flaw for people to accept, but habitual dishonesty is a moral deficiency and speaks badly of Po's character.

The thing that I liked most about the show is that the supporting cast was actually a real supporting cast. The Furious 5 got way more screentime than they did in the movies, and there were actual episodes focusing on giving them character development. In the movie they were basically glorified props for Po to use during fight scenes, and by the third move they were basically trying to get them out of the movie as quickly as possible so that they'd have time to focus on all the new characters.

If there was one thing the movies could have learned from the show, it would have been the way the show treats the F5.

The reason Viper only got one focus episode in the TV show was because Lucy Liu was a lot more expensive than any of the other VAs, since she was one of the only actors who reprised their role for TV.

As far as threequels go it was better than most but it wasn't as good as 2, albeit it was visually gorgeous. 3 is an alright bookend, but it missed the opportunity to ruther establish Po's relationships with his team mates, which would have made the conclusion a lot more satisfying. 2 did a much better job with that, and that's part of why it's the best movie in the series.

No, let's be real. 3 is worse than 1 and the little screentime given to the Furious Five is only a minor problem. The visuals were ambitious but the art direction is the weakest, specially on how they used colors compared to the previous movies. The villian is very weak, all style (good style admittedly) and no substance. The fights got worse the more chi was involved, the final one being a chore to watch. The script is terrible, not only because of the excessive use of humor but also the unnatural/ungenuine lines that make it painfully hard to ignore that these are characters in a movie instead of actual people. The plot is so messed up that the only way to fix it is to change most or all of it.

It's not just a disappointing sequel, it's a disappointing movie by itself. Many scenes are good individually but don't work well in the end. In other words, it has lots of good ideas and some of them were executed decently but overall it's a mess.

Speaking of games I'm pissed that the original Kung Fu Panda game pretty much will not run on a modern PC unless it's in low-detail performance mode. It looks ugly as sin compared to the console version but at the same time I'd rather not have to go and hunt down a copy for PS3.

That's what's really shitty about licensed games-- on the rare occasion that someone makes a good one, the rights eventually expire and the publisher abandons it. I would buy it on Steam for a few bucks if it actually worked properly, but the game may as well not even exist anymore as far as the license holders are concerned.

Oh boy, an opportunity to talk about the KFP1 game? I got it for Xbox 360 (in the double-pack with Lego Indy) and I was surprised with how decent it actually was. I mean, combat's pretty easy because Panda Stumble (or what ever the roll move is called) is OP, but other than that it was pretty neat. In fact, it's what made me interested in watching Kung Fu Panda 2 (I saw the first when when it came out and didn't think much of it but I guess I wasn't old enough to appreciate it (I was in my early teens). And I'm glad I did because KFP2 was great. Shame the third one wasn't that great though.

I think my real disappointment though was for the KFP2 game. I enjoyed the first one so I would have actually bought the second one if it was like the first, but they just made it a gimmicky Kinect game instead. Welp.

Give Kai literally anything better than what he was given. His first scene when returning to the mortal realm had him getting undermined by a couple of background characters who face no comeuppance for that. Why should anyone care about a villain who is treated like a literally who by everyone in the film, and nobody takes seriously?

Personally if I was in charge I'd probably drop the panda village stuff too. It just wasn't any fun. If anything it just meant a good chunk of the film became nothing but fat jokes which stopped being funny after the first film.

But that's my point. KFP2 was still a children's comedy movie yet it managed to have both a genuinely moving villain and jokes that weren't reliant on reminding everyone that pandas were fat and lazy. It's why the KFP movies had always been a personal favourite, because they were surprising and always went in different directions to where I expected. KFP3 unfortunately just ended up working itself into the same groove I thought the previous two movies had managed to sidestep.

In the first he's just sorta swiping his hands around really sloppily, and then later on he's using more refined palm strikes and stuff. Such a rare and brilliant attention to detail for not just a licensed game, but a game in general.

It's also worth noting in the first level which is his dream sequence, he uses the more skill style he uses later in the game.
