Lots of things, though a great many of the complaints are overblown, like how it somehow steals content creators. It might kill content creators by offering them a way to get attention other than making content, but those people would have abandoned ship for anything else anyway. There are problems with how it facilitates a hotbed of drama with the namefags too. I bet money the nastiest comments directed at namefags can be traced to grudges from their vented anonymously. Also, the majority of the most active users will admit to not visiting the threads anymore, other than the CC room of course. There were even many users who were unaware that the threads existed. Hell a Mead comic dropped and someone starts talking about it and all the responses are people saying they have no idea what theyre talking about.
Maybe its a containment for the worst elements, but its wrong to think it compliments the threads. Its not the hub of the community, or the other half. Its more like an adjacent room.

It's a pretty good WIP, don't get the wrong idea.
The thing is though, when drawing another character it is important to look at their key features, like eyes, eyebrows, hair, etc. aka what makes them "them".
Of course you can and should add personal changes that you see fit. This will make your interpretation more unique and most importantly appear in your own style. You wouldn't want to redraw the exact same thing, that's just for practice purposes.
(copying is not bad as long as you learn something from it to use in your own art)

That's what your drawing achieves quite well actually. You are headed in the right direction, just keep going.

I encourage you however to be more experimental with your faces. Practice drawing different parts like eyes, ears, mouths etc. so you can avoid the dreaded "same-face syndrome".
