I'd try my hardest not to question his choice of venue. Either this is the only place he can afford to take people on dates, its his favorite place to take people on dates, or perhaps by his standards, this is the fanciest place he knows of, where he only takes those who truly mean alot to him.

I'd ask Bubsy if he has any allergies and make a point to tell any waiter or waitress (if there are any) what they are so that the kitchen (if there is one) can comply when making Bubsy's dinner.

I'd do my darndest to make this a wonderful evening, one that Bubsy will cherish and remember.
