Actually, my first thought when I saw him at the hatchery volunteering with her was that they'd be happy with each other. At that point in the game I was sure the final ending would be even more depressing than the ones before it somehow, so I was thinking the MC wouldn't be around to make any relationships serious.

The more I thought though, the less likely it seems. He still wears that tie because he hasn't let go. Adine is good support for him, but she'll also remind him of Amelia. He's a very sentimental guy. I figure it would at least be another couple of years before he could see Adine as any more than a good friend, and his Amelia's best friend.
As for Adine, if she felt anything for him she'd instantly also feel guilty about it. No question.

For them to end up in a relationship they'd have to be desperate for it. Neither of them come off that way.
