The general belief is that the Symol hole is like the fishing vortex, where there's technically no limit on how often you can do it, but trying to do it too often generally won't actually get you anything. The documentation on it is pretty sparse though, which makes sense since getting anything from it at all is extremely rare even under the best conditions, so it's possible that it might be different.

I don't want to cheat trophies, but I do want all the game-related avatars. Does TNT bother with avatar-worthy scores? A lot of those scores are in the top 50.

But usually it goes like this:

Monday to Wednesday: People have their chance to pick a faction.
Thursday to Sunday: People battle for their faction, against the Battledome Challengers of other factions. A user not doing at least 10 battles against Faction Challengers means that user, individually, don't qualify for access to Boons during the upcoming Truce period, even if their faction wins.
Monday through Sunday: The winning faction is announced, and those who fought for them and fought enough get to pick 1 of 5 boons to enjoy for the week. Users who fought for a faction that didn't win get 1 semi-random item prize as consolation.

There's just no way that could ever happen. Neopets is fundamentally structured and designed for use on a desktop computer, in a desktop web browser.

So much of Neopets revolves around hammering their servers constantly by mashing f5 on everything. Shops, Money Tree, all of it. A good portion of the site was designed by people who didn't understand the impact that it would have on maintaining the site.

What Neopets really needs is a full AJAX makeover, preferrably with its own internal API so staff can easily consume and modify what they need to. Instead of sitting there refreshing at shops, you only need to see if it's restocked. You don't need to do a whole page refresh. Neopets desperately needs this in order to continue to survive, but they never will do it because the site has existed since the early days of the internet, and I'm sure its codebase has ballooned into this insane monster of PHP/Perl/Flash/Whatever.

As much as I hate to say it, what Neopets needs on mobile is a Neko-Atsume style game with a scum-fuck type time-gated progression microtransaction system in place.

They had the right idea with Ghoul Catchers. Make a bejeweled clone that gets you some extra dosh you can funnel into your main account. The problem is that only hardcore masochists are only going to play fucking Bejeweled every day forever. You need something low-maintenance, low-stress that can rake in the microtransaction bux while still drawing a big audience and bring more attention to the desktop site. Like Farmville.

Restocking isn't exactly a normal activity. You aren't supposed to be sitting there refreshing the shop page. They have no reason to support it, and implemented restock banning to discourage it. The entire rest of the site would work just fine on mobile and would be the things that they are pitching to potential new users, not the horribly broken economy. And as I said, they quite literally already had a mobile app that was nearly finished that would've let them do that.

I do agree that the entire codebase desperately needs to be completely rehauled though, for the sake of maintainability, expandability, and stopping reliance on horribly outdated technology.

All they really have to do is change the ability to submit 3 scores per game per day and turn it into a recharging energy system like most other mobile games. It encourages people to keep coming back regularly to use the energy so that it isn't going to waste, that way the app literally becomes a part of their daily schedule. And then you just add microtransactions on damn near everything:

Pay cash to temporarily double how fast your score submission energy recharges.
Pay cash to instantly finish training at the training school. Also you don't need items if you pay cash up front, just as an extra incentive to do it.
Fortune cookies are already microtransactions, just make them easy to find for people who prefer to spend money instead of effort.
All of those boons from the obelisk? Turn most of those into temporary boosts you can pay cash for too.
Hell, why pay some other user 1000000np for a brush if you can pay a few dollars for whatever color you want? JS gets money and decreases inflation!

It wouldn't directly change anything for the current userbase, so the nostalgiafags can keep doing what they're doing, but the people funneling actual cash into the system would have a clear advantage and an incentive to keep doing it.

I'm really against this, and in fact I think it will be the death of Neopets if they do this.

The only thing that keeps most people coming back is achieving those goals. Getting your dream paint brush, getting that Krawk/Draik/whatever. Tying rare items to real money would not only wreck the economy overnight, it would kill basically everyone's reason for ever coming back in the first place.

I think that TNT could have done that a long time ago, and I think it's a deliberate decision that they haven't gone that route. They know that as broken as it is, their economy hangs precariously in the balance.

Although for both of the previous Charity Corners, getting the avatar involved participating during multiple days. The first time, it was complete 8 days of Adopt a Neopian.
The second time, it was just "Donate at least once a day, on 7 different days during the event", pretty much.

But I doubt they'd release an avatar for this event, at least, not any with conditions like THOSE; An Avatar drives up demand for donation fodder items, & thus their prices, which stresses out people who want to buy stuff to donate, as CC donation fodder already gets notably inflated for the duration of the event. After all, plenty of people already capitalize on selling such items.

Of course, nowadays, the most practical way to get a heavy Neopet is to feed them Pumpkin Neggs, which also decrease size.
The BBQ Porkwich item would also be an option if not for at least one of the items needed to make it being retired, & thus, an impractical item to use.

Rainbow Melt Pizza makes your pet's hunger level Very Full. It's also possible to have your active pet become Bloated via the Healing Springs when Marina restores said pet's hit points and makes them "not hungry anymore".

Oh, and rarely, the Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity can make your pet hungrier. But more often, he'll make them "forget they were hungry", making them less hungry by 1 stage.

Otherwise, getting your pet to become hungrier isn't easy.

In fact, one of the cheapest way to feed a pet often is arguably a little cruel. If you feed a pet at Dying hunger just once, putting it at Starving, it'll only take around 2 hours to get the hunger go back down to Dying.
However, if you just came from a hunger level above Starving, it'll take longer to get down to Dying again.

He's usually pretty good. I usually do follow his bets with fairly good results. He's just had terrible luck these past few days with 13:1 pirates winning way more often then they should be.

I think his bet today was a bit questionable though, which is why I tried my own thing. He was 10-betting Edmund when Stripey had a decent chance to cause an upset, which is exactly what happened. I usually try to avoid putting everything on one pirate, so I always double-check the odds when Garet is 10-betting like that.

Franchisco has really good odds this time around, so it's not actually that bad of a choice. There's definitely the risk of having that single upset that tanks the entire thing, but chances are pretty good that he'll pull through.

From browsing various Neopets forums, currently, thanks to Avatar hunters and many people being aware of the high numbers, and wanting to take advantage of that, The Thieves are likely going to have a very big numbers advantage this round.

They also haven't won since December 19th, 2016, over 3 rounds ago.

Of course, yes, Brutes have a longer losing streak, as they haven't won since November 21st, 2016.

Also, The Brutes have the least numbers this round, so them being "due" for a win matters less, and while The Awakened can have better boons, they might not, being that theirs are RNG & all. And they might not win, anyway. They aren't too "due" for a win anyway, with their last win being on January 2nd, 2017, over 2 rounds ago.


Hence, I implore you to join The Thieves this round. I have nothing to gain from lying to make you join a faction opposing mine, obviously, and we all have better chances of winning if we work together.

I'm a battledome noob and was wondering what the best overall pair of weapons/armor I should buy for less than 100k total. Right now I'm rocking a scarab ring and a parasol of unfortunate demise, with static cling for my ability.

It's been working pretty well so far, but I was wondering if I could benefit from a massive boost in damage/defense by spending a little more dosh. The battledome is too lucrative to pass up now, especially with all the codestones it drops daily.

Good, cheap items to have for the BD are:
>Scroll of Ultranova
11 icons, cheap as dirt
>Scroll of Knowledge
Also 11 icons with a different arrangement, but a bit more expensive. Not really important for single player battling, but it's there as an option.
>Downsize
Removes 50% of icons against you for that turn. Great for blocking damage that your other defense items can't cover.
>Cursed Elixir
Saps 20 HP from your opponent and heals your pet for the same amount. Really good for BD newbies since it lets you oneshot the low level opponents without losing HP.
>Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer
9 icons, also dirt cheap.

The only thing from these that should run you over 10k is the scroll of knowledge and the cursed elixir, maybe downsize.
Healing items are for the most part pretty expensive, the greater healing scroll (50HP) running you at 100-250k.

Scrolls of Ultranova are the most powerful weapon you'll find before you start getting into the 100k+ range.

Actually, Scroll of Ultranova is 9.8 icons. Also, despite being given out by the Cosmic Dome, its price has recently skyrocketed.

When I was a wee lad I hung out with the too leet board raiders on the roleplay board, including THEM and that one who was lead by a saitothelegend.

When I moved I lost my first account and neopets wouldn't help me get it and purged it, which sucks because I had probably hundreds of millions of neopoints of TCG redemption prizes in peak value.

Then I made one I RP'ed on but it got frozen for inappropriate language (which I don't even recall making), and my side became my main. It's username is styled after another user on my old old guild that acted as a mole.
