>[x] Take a step aside and whip the left leg!

You take an easy side step from the clumsy giant stampeding at you.

Bit before you easily avoid it, you strike at its left leg with a sure blow blasting rock and rusted metal.

*BRACK!* (CRIT 80)

First a crack then followed by a vicious tumble, the Bog Guardian wrecks itself onto the hard ground.
As the dust settles you can see it struggling and roaring louder than before as you notice its left leg has completely been torn asunder from it, lifeless into crumbling pieces of moss, stone and iron.

Somehow unfettered by its serious injury, it crawls to you using its arm and remaining leg, going much faster than its usual charge as it hammers anything in its renewed warpath with its keg-sized arms. (5)

"W-Who....w-w-w-w-why..?" unable to form a solid cohesive question you just resort to sobbing into your hands. Alexia Alabaster, your only real friend aboard this damn ship...is dead?

"I have a couple of my best agents investigating the surrounding area to see if there's any clue as to who is responsible for Dr. Alabaster's death." Ironwood say's to you once your cries have finally quieted down.

That's nice, you guess, but your honestly a little lost right now. You were her assistant, and the C4D3-NC3 Unit was mainly her doing. What's gonna happen now?

"Dr. Polendina has already completed his P3N1 Unit and under normal circumstances that would mean the work that you and Dr. Alabaster would either be destroyed or put into storage. But these aren't normal circumstances and I'd think you'd agree that doing so would dishonor her memory, right?"

"R-Right" You manage to get out.

'Well then," The General says whilst rising from his chair and taking his Scroll from his desk, closing the screen. Good, you didn't want to see that for another second.

"Would you kindly show me to the C4D3-NC3 Unit, please?"

Oh man...

Getting out of the chair, you quickly wipe the remaining tears from your eyes. Alright, you can do this. Stand straight, arms behind your back, make eye contact, keep a straight face. You do it, for the most part. Your stone face starts to waver as your thoughts are filled with Alexia.

Don't cry. You got this. Alexia could do this, you can too. Alexia...

Don't cry.

"I-If you'll follow me please, General." You say as you turn and exit his office. You hear the General's heavy footsteps behind you as you walk.

You pass several "associates" as you walk with the General, most of them whispering to each other about your red eyed and sniffling face with Ironwood close behind you.

You finally reach the door to the lab. You glance up to the top of the door frame where a piece of paper is taped there.

You stand beside the door and turn to face Ironwood. He seems to get the message and the door slides open with a soft hiss as he enters. You quickly follow.

"I presume this is the C4D3-NC3 Unit?" General Ironwood says while standing in front of the vat containing the amalgamation of both your's and Alexia's work of the past year and 8 months.

"Y-Yes sir! The C4D3-NC3 Combat Capable Unit is a fully functioning metallic endoskeleton covered in a layer of synthetic self-repairing and re-programmable flesh. The head stores a fully self-aware and highly intelligent AI capable of interfacing with any kingdom's database on Remnant." You say. This is the speech you've been practicing for the last month, circumstances be damned you'll try your best to nail it, it's what Alexia would expect from you.

Don't cry.

"Hmm" The General seems to ponder what you've said so far. You haven't even begin to explain the combat functionality yet so what could he be thinking abou-

"Activate it."

What? I mean, you're pretty sure you know how to but that's usually where Alexia would step in. What if you somehow fuck it up?

Despite yourself and your trepidation, you approach the console connected to the vat of green slime where C4D3-NC3 is floating peacefully in a skintight suit and wires connected to it's spine and the back of it's head.

"R-Right away, sir." You stammer.

You peer down at the screen as your brow furrows. You start tapping away as the pod slowly starts to drain of the slightly luminescent slime it held. Okay, this shouldn't be too hard.

You spare a glance back at the General waiting patiently, his face blank and kinda unreadable before continuing your work at the console.

That should just about do it. You enter in the final password and the pod opens, the android slumped over on it's knees in the pod. You step back and stand beside Ironwood as you both look on.

...

...

It should have woken up by now. Why isn't it waking up right now? You fucked up. You fucked it, Alexia's dying dream is right there and you fucked it up. God's what have you done?

While you threaten to burst into tears again at the prospect that you somehow made all your murdered friends work null and void. C4D3-NC3's eyes flutter open and it raises it head.

You can't help but light out a small gasp as you're light brown eyes are locked on to it's pink gaze at stares from General Ironwood, to you, to back to the General. It slowly rises from its slouched position to standing straight up. Wires and all still connected to it, it snaps into salute.

"Awaiting orders, General Ironwood sir." C4D3-NC3 says it's voice coming out loud and clear.

Tears start well in your eyes as you realize something...

You didn't fuck it up.

Aah, the man on the left is General James Ironwood, one of the most influential man in Atlas and a fair bit of Remnant as well. The other man is Marshall Rouge a scientist who officially works in the Robotics Sector of the Atlesian military.

Wait, GENERAL James Ironwood, that means he out ranks you.

>SUPERIOR RESPECT PROTOCOL ACTIVATED

You body practically moves on it's own as you snap into a salute, your long hair flowing behind you.

"Awaiting orders, General Ironwood sir." You say to the man, your voice coming out loud and clear.

At this, Marshall Rouge starts to cry. Is...Is he upset that he's not receiving similar respect? No matter, the General takes priority at the moment.

"Hmm...C4D3-NC3? Do you mind if I call you Cadence? Or, would you prefer something else?" The General asks.

You've...never really gave it much thought, not that you really could up until now, but still.

You can't think of anything to name yourself right now, so that should be fine.

"Cadence is fine for now, sir." You say to the General standing in front of you.

"Alright, Cadence. If you come up with something for yourself, be sure to tell Mr. Rouge here and he'll relay it to me or someone who can spread the word." The General says while gesturing with his hand to the man who's currently facing away from you and the General and softly crying into his hand.

"Whaa? *sniff* Oh, uh...yeah, of course!" Rouge responds while wiping the tears from his eyes and turning back to you, a small smile in his face. Now if someone wasn't programmed to sense heartbeats and read emotions you wouldn't be able to tell that while he is happy about something, probably you working optimally, there is something behind it. Those aren't just tears of joy.

"Anyways, Cadence. If you don't mind, could you please explain to me some of your capabilities?"

The General's eyes widen slightly.

"Ah, I see. You know, most people don't know about the Apollo. How do you know of that?" Ironwood asks, while giving you a hard stare.

Rouge has a look of surprise on his face and is shaking his head "no" for you not to answer or to lie. Should you?

>[Lie to the Gen-SUPERIOR RESPECT PROTOCOL OVERRIDE

Oh, well, okay then.

"Dr. Alexia Alabaster gave me access to Tier-4 Atlas documents. I presume she was not allowed too?" You ask.

The General's brows furrow.

"No, she wasn't. Did you know about this, Mr. Rouge" Ironwood turns to face Marshall and takes two steps to be uncomfortably close to him.

Marshal responds by backing up trying to give himself some space but hits his back against a desk connected to the wall, effectively trapping him.

"N-No! I-I-I-I had absolutely no idea she d-did such a t-thing, sir! In fact, I would h-have toed to stop her if she did!" Marshall is scared now, if the visible sweat on his forehead and his stutter is anything to go by. Oh, and his heartbeat is at one hundred and twenty three beats per minutes, interesting.

"Alright then." The General clearly does not buy what Rouge just said but doesn't press it further, I wonder why that is.

It's not terribly important, you can ask later if she doesn't show up at some point.

"Is there anything else you would like to know, General?" You ask, hoping that maybe it'll lighten the sudden heavy mood that fell over the room.

"No, that'll do just fine, Cadence" The General breaks his stare down with Marshall and turns back to you.

"I'll have someone make accommodations for you as an official person aboard this ship, and Mr. Rouge..." Ironwood turns back to Marshall.

"Y-Yes?" Marshall responds, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"Cadence is your responsibility now, be sure to care for her with the best of your ability." The General's hard stare is back now and more intense.

"O-Of course, General! You can c-count on me!" Marshall says while attempting to stand straight and point a thumb at himself.

"I'm trusting you on this Marshall, do not let me down." Ironwood seemingly has nothing more to say as he leaves the room.

Marshall sighs and sinks down into a chair, putting his head into his hands. After a few minutes of silence he leans down and pulls open one of the bottom-most drawers, removing a large bottle of alcohol.

You raise your voice to speak to a man desperately trying to drown himself in very strong alcohol.

"I don't understand the situation you feel yourself in, but I do know getting drunk is hardly a viable long-term solution."

Marshall stops drinking, and puts the bottle on the desk having already drank an eighth of the bottle. He coughs slightly and wipes his mouth.

"Yeah....yeah, you're probably right. Was supposed to be used for a celebration, but I guess things don't always pan out the way you want." Marshall states as he looks forlorn and stares at...well, nothing really.

Should you...say something? Oh wait, he's moving. Marshall gets out of his seat and sighs.

"Let's get you unhooked out of that fucking machine, yeah?"

He gives you an empty smile.

"If you don't mind."

...

Now unhooked from the pod, you finally get to stretch and feel out your body.

Thin, lithe, limbs? Okay.

Extremely long, blonde hair? Alright.

Flat chest? Umm, sure?

You feel your artificial tongue around artificial mouth and teeth. Is that a...gap in your front teeth? Imperfections for you to seem more realistic, maybe? You slowly bring your hands to your face and feel around a little, normal feminine features, no moles or anything. Thick eyebrows? Nothing wrong with that.

Marshall seems to being eyeing you with a look of mild confusion.

You ignore his look and remove your hands from your face, slowly putting them together and feeling them together. Nails, fingers, knuckles, palms. Yep, those are hands. Feel like how hands should, you think. You slide your hands up to your covered forearms, feeling the rubbery material covering them. Going up further to the bicep, you don't feel an overwhelming amount of muscle, although you guess that wouldn't really be needed. Your endoskeleton would do the work anyway. Your hands continue their journey up, reaching your shoulder and down slightly to the collarbone, well, collarbone-like protrusion. Now going down, your hands slide past your small breasts and feel a bit of a jolt when you slide past the place where your nipples should be. That was...pleasant.

Your feeling must have been visible as Marshall moves from his place leaning on the desk to standing in front of you waving his hands slightly.

"Alright, alright, alright. I think that's quite enough of that." His look of confusion morphing to one of discomfort.

Now that you've got a good look, your're actually considerably shorter than him, actually.

You're curiosity from earlier is coming back now.

"Why were you crying, earlier?" You prompt Marshall, who's face falls at your question.

"I-I-I was...crying...because...i was so excited that you work! You work better than I could have hoped, heh heh." Marshall rubs the back of his head while giving you an obviously fake smile.

Yeah, you're not buying that.

You give him a look that clearly shows your feelings towards his rather poorly attempted lie. His smile breaks apart and it seems like he might start to cry again.

"Y-You know that I helped Alexia Alabaster create you...right?"

"Of course."

"Well...uh...t-this morning, I found out that Alexia was...was...Alexia was found...d-dead." Tears are clearly about to spring forth and he hangs his head when they do.

Based on the various databases you can access, the standard response to someone in grief would be to console them, right?

You take a step forward and slowly wrap your arms around Marshall's shaking body. Him being over a foot taller than you really only has it so your head is on his chest and arms are around his waist. It seems to bring him comfort, as his tears start to recede and he rests his cheek on the top of your head.

...

"Thanks, Cadence." Marshall says, breaking the hug after a few minutes of standing there in silence.

>HUG STATUS : COMPLETE

"Your welcome, Marshall." You respond as he wipes the nano-fluid off his cheek he got from your hair. You really find a shower at some point, maybe some new clothes, too. This suit is nice and all, but you know, it'd be nice to have something a little less...tight.

Marshall's scroll pings in his pocket and he reaches for it, no need for that, though, you have access to most of Atlesian people's Scrolls and the Military's as well. Infringing on the people's rights and freedoms? Probably.

"It's about where I'd be staying, it's in the Dormitory Sector of the ship in room F-223." You tell him before he's even finished pulling it out of his pocket.

"Oh, well, okay. Saved me the time." He slides half of his Scroll back into the pocket of his maroon pants.

"Do you want me to show you the way?"

I mean, you already have the entire layout of the ship, so you could absolutely find your way with minimal issue but...

So can we agree Volume 4 as particularly pointless?

Let's just break down everything that happened.
>RNJR travels the continent to get to Haven
>We get very minor "character development" about how Jaune is handling Pyrrha's death
>Qrow talks to his sister in the one scene I actually find important out of this whole volume
>RNJR is stopped by a big bad, but Qrow comes in and saves them; neither die nor learn anything useful about their opponent from the situation
>Qrow does a massive exposition dump about nothing; also, he apparently brings bad luck to people (despite that being bullshit)*
>We get unnecessary flashback stuff about Nora and Ren, but it's at least decently executed

>Weiss loses her heiress-ness
>That's seriously all that happens

>Blake spends half a year on a boat to go home
>She finds out the Black Fang are basically just as much of a threat as we thought they were to begin with
>Then she goes back to Vale
>Also, minor (likely unnecessary) character development between her and that guy she clearly won't get with, and her dad
>And she see Blakes home-town, but that probably won't come up again either

>Yang is sad
>Yang is happy
>Yang destroys the continuity of the show in the same way the Eagles from Lord of the Rings do

>Cinder is sad
>Salem is sad
>Cinder is weak
>Salem is... well we don't know because she didn't do anything

What a productive Volume...

*seriously, I thought that scene in 3-3 where Ironwood stops the battle mid-fight was him and his "bad luck" magic, but you have to admit it's PRETTY FUCKING LUCKY he lived through the poison and that Haven soldiers were able to find them
>>
>>7578246
I'm with you on everything but the last bit. It was a really lackluster volume.

I think it was his bad luck that stopped the fight, but like he said, some times it effects his opponents. And in this case, it made it so Winter looks like the bad guy.
It also seems to have a limited range, considering he actively stays just far enough from RNJR to not effect them before the Tyrian fight, but is also still within shouting distance. I doubt even his semblance could make it so they wouldn't have found him, considering they pretty much have to load him on the stretcher before they're even in range.
>>
>>7578246
I feel like it should be only like a third of a season. It felt unnecessarily stretched out and the "finale didn't feel like a season finale, it felt like a side arc that gets wrapped up. Imagine if Red Hot Chili Pepper was the entirety of Diamond is Unbreakable, that's about what happened.
>>
>>7578414
And at least then that Arc had a satisfying conclusion.
Not quite as satisfying as Another One Bites the Dust though.
>>
>>7578414
I feel like Volume 4 as a glorified two or three parter. No fucking joke. Cut out all the stuff with Weiss, Blake, and Yang (and yes, you totally can do that and not much would change) and you have about an hour and a half long movie about what RNJR was doing on their trip to Haven. I'm currently watching RWBY with a friend who just finished V3, and I may just straight up told him to skip this.

He probably knows that you can do it yourself, but accepting help usually doesn't lead to many issues.

"If you so wish."

"Alright. Just...follow me, yeah?" Marshall says while turning and reaching for the bottle of Vodka left on the table.

He must have felt your stare into the back of his head as he slowly retracts his hand away from the bottle and back to his side, muttering "Alright, alright." while doing so. Marshall finally makes for the door and you follow him out of the room.

People were milling about in the hallway but seem to whisper to each other when you pass, presumably about you. It'd make sense if they were.

You also notice that your leaving a small trail of glowing green nano-fluid down the hallway. This ship has cleaners, it'll be no issue.

Hopefully.

Marshall seemed to have no issue with it when you brought it up.

"We've got little automated bots that keep this place spic and span. Only worthwhile thing Dr. Marlowe has done with his life, anyways." He said, though the part pertaining to Dr. Marlowe more whispered than spoken aloud.

You briefly check your database for a Dr. Marlowe, but there's 29 of them on Remnant. You don't know about who's actually stationed aboard The Intrepid Dreamer, that's Tier-5 stuff.

"And here we are." Marshall says in a completely monotone voice.

Oh, yes we are. You glance up and see "F-223" printed in gray block letters against the white metallic walls.

"My room is actually right there" Marshall points to a room down and on the other side of the hall. Right at a room marked "F-207".

"You got any questions or anything? Or can I go to my room, too?"

Nothing really comes up at the moment.

"No, I'm quite alright." You say.

"Oh...well, if anything comes to mind just...i dunno, message me on my Scroll or just come knock on my door...doesn't really matter to me." He turns to leave, but pauses and turns back.

"Oh, uh...tomorrow you're probably gonna have to go through some practical testing. Nothing major really, just going through some basics, you know, Hacking, Combat, Subterfuge. Higher-ups wanting to confirm your abilities, you know? It was supposed to happen later today, but..." He trails off.

It's not hard to figure out why.

Thank you for letting me know, Marshall." You reply to the sad looking scientist.

When he's halfway down the hall you yell "You better not be planning to drink in there!"

He pauses mid step and responds to you in a whiny without turning his back.

"But...I'm already like, half-cut though."

"Don't."

He sighs and rubs his face.

"Fiiiiiiinnnnneee." He quickly walk the rest of the way to his room and enters without looking back.

You enter your own room and look around.

It's a rather plain room, with white walls and a gray floor and the bed sharing the same coloration as the rest of the room. There is a drawer on one wall with a door beside it leading to a bathroom.

You do really need a shower.

You enter the bathroom and after a little trouble, you're able to get out of your suit. You place it in the sink and step into the shower.

As you wash the nano-fluid out of your hair (this make take a while) you begin to contemplate your rather tumultuous awakening.

Dr. Alexia Alabaster, the main scientist devoted to creating you, is dead. Leaving her partner in the project and friend Marshall Rouge, to be your primary caretaker.

It seems to be a pretty big undertaking, and you can't help but wonder if he's really cut out for it.

You realize something that would actually be mildly disturbing to any onlooker.

Well, your synthetic flesh is currently sagging of your endoskeleton and it feels...strange. You had to search through your systems for a minute to see what exactly is happening to you.

As it turns out, it's actually good thing.

You see, the flesh that sits on your endoskeleton will actually slowly build up toxins and other things. Similar to how skin cells are constantly being replaced on a normal human, this flesh is constantly replacing dying or dead cells with healthy ones, resulting in a build up of dead matter that needs to be expunged every once and a while. Your automated systems simply took now as a time to do it, even though there wasn't much to empty out. It seems that every couple day's is a good time frame to do this, and you also need to charge your power core in a similar way.

Your power cell, the "Life Ring Regen Power Cell Mk.46" can run for several days before recharging, a process that would shut you down for exactly 16 hours. Due to the decay of your Life Ring System however, it will be 17 hours in approximately...oh, only 674 years.

You feel your skin tighten back up and you wash the remaining luminescent green slime from your hair. You turn off the shower head and step out of the shower, wiping the condensation from the mirror to reveal your face. Same as it should be. You know you can reprogram your body to adopt any humanoid form you want, but should you mess with that while you have some alone time?

You slowly close your eyes and focus on the image of someone.

You feel your limbs stretch and your hair recede and the fake flesh on your body form a lanky, but still more masculine shape.

You open your eyes to see not yourself, but Marshall Rouge staring back at you.

Whoa, that's pretty neat.

You close your eyes again and your skeleton, skin, and hair go back to a more feminine form. You open your eyes again to see a frizzy haired blonde girl. This was one of the other scientists you passed in the hallway, though she had glasses and an inhaler when you passed her in the hallway.

Morphing a few more times, you begin to get the hang of this, as weird as it may be. But, it could be used as a powerful tool for any future impersonation you may have to do.

Stepping out of the bathroom and turning to the dresser, you pull open the top most drawer to reveal several neatly folded outfits that a quick analyze shows that they will all fit you.

Pushing your potential articles of clothing to side, you find something that isn't overly flashy, but not too tactical either.

A leather jacket(with two pockets on the outside, and several more hidden on the inside), blue jeans(wow, these pockets are deeper than you'd think) and a plain white shirt to put on under the jacket. You remove the items from the drawer then close it, maybe you'll need the other outfits later? It'd be a shame for them to go to waste. Pulling open the drawer underneath, you are met with your second decision, underwear. What to go with?

Standing up, you push the drawer closed with your knee and take a look around glance around your room, you find nothing of note left to do here.

You could stay here and charge in preparation for tomorrow, but you've barely spent any power and the ship, while knowing the blueprints, is still mostly unknown on a personal level. There's the Combat Arena, the place where you'll most likely do those practical tests mentioned earlier, there's the Cafeteria, where it should be about Lunch, you don't need to eat but you could physically do so if the need arises. You decide that staying here and assuring that all your systems are working correctly than learning the in's and out's of the ship. Running a quick diagnostic check, you find that all your systems are functioning optimally. You lied down on your bed and power down to charge what little battery you lost today.

You sit straight up, eyes wide and aware looking around the dark room. They must turn off the lights at night. Night vision doesn't reveal anything out of place. You rise from the your bed, looking all about your room for something off, even checking the bathroom.

Nope, all clear.

That message, "ISABELITA ALEXANDRO TADES"... Who is that? A scan of the database containing all the people on Remnant bring up...0 results found?

Scan again....0 results found.

Huh? Morse Code and the encryption was simple enough to pass, but even getting it to you the way whoever sent this did would have to have some form of technical genius.

It's 3:24am, most of the people aboard the ship are probably asleep. Should you tell someone?

You take a step back, and look around even more. From looking at the bigger picture. The mossy swing is hanging from a old tree, and a rope is laying in the dead grass.

Looking to your left, you see a severed hand what supposed to be a studio camera. The camera itself was broken, and the tape was taken. The hand is left there to decay for a year.

The door is left opened, feeling your confidence is building. Now you're ready to go inside...

You'll not be getting anything else out of being cooped up in this room, anyway.

You step out into the hallway, the normal bright lights now dimmed and being a soft orange glow, you walk around the ship, going nowhere in particular. You pass by the Lounge, empty, the Cafeteria, no one there except for a lone guard eating a Schneecker's Bar, probably taking a night shift. He raises his head and nods at you before returning to his snack.

You're walking pass the Combat Arena and hear sounds of...well, combat. Peeking your head in you see a girl with red hair in a psychedelic fur coat carrying a old-fashioned revolver.

Several Atlesian Model-00 Training Bots lay at her feet, smoking gun wounds in all their heads. The floor open up in front of her, revealing a platform holding six more of the same Training Bots.

"You ready to see something wonderful, missy?"

Is...Is she talking to you? You glance around seeing no one else.

"Yeah, I'm talking to you. I'll ask again. You ready to see something wonderful...missy?"

She hasn't turned around to face you, so no dice on facial recognition.

"Sure."

"I was hoping ya'd say something like that." The girl reaches into her coat and pulls out what seems to be an antique coin.

The Robots snap to attention at this movement, each taking a different stance, ready to pounce.

The Lady doesn't move having a stare down with the faceless bots. She flicks the coin in her right hand into the air, causing the bot's to all jump at her.

Then, so fast even you can barely catch it, she raises the gun in her left hand and fan-fires six shots into the coin in the air, each bullet ricocheting into a bot's head. She side steps one of the falling hunks of metal and circuitry as she turns to face you, lowering her glasses to give you a "Well?" look.

You cross your arms and shrug again.

"It was pretty alright."

Delilah arches an eyebrow.

"Alright? Missy I'll have you know that what you just saw was incredible." Delilah points with her gun back toward the smoking body

"And I would appreciate some respect here, Shorty, I am the Head of Security here on this ship after all." Delilah says, pointing the now empty revolver back in your general direction, her finger still on the trigger. She seems ready to say some more but a voice from above you both stops her.

"Pppfffffftttt...Head of Security, that's a good one Delilah."

You look up only to see a camouflage tarpaulin float down to the ground between you two and settle down flat.

Then it twists up and spins in place, before being puled off by the person now inside the tarp.

Wait how'd they do that?

"It's no trouble." You tell the girl .

"But still though, she doesn't need to be going around acting like that." Sasha gives you a smile.

"Ya'll better stop talking like I ain't here" Delilah pipes up from behind Sasha.

"You can just say what the deal is, I'm a big gal, I can take it." She continues, gesturing to lay it on her.

You get the feeling she probably can't.

Sasha turns from looking back at Delilah to you with a more analytical look. Her eye's widen slightly and she walks to Delilah and whisper something in her ear. You're able to pick it up just fine, though.

"D, you know who that is, right?"

"Nope."

"She's the android. You know, the one a certain doctor worked on?"

"...Penny?"

"No, that's Dr. Polendina, I'm talking about the other one."

You take a couple of healthy steps back. Just to give them some space to sort out their problems, maybe a get a good view of the fight?

Well, Delilah's gun is currently empty, but odds are she can reload fairly quickly. Sasha's two machine pistols she has strapped to her thighs seem a bit more cumbersome, and she might not be as much of a quick shot as Delilah.

Sasha is the first to reach for her gun, but before her hand reaches her holster, a gold glow encompasses her body. Sasha's hand that was reaching for the gun glows similarly but seems frozen in place. Sasha's hand plummets to the ground as if she was holding something really heavy, bringing the rest of her down too.

Delilah smirks as Sasha struggles to even move her hand at all, even resorting to trying to lift it with her remaining hand, but to no avail. She manages to get it off the ground a little bit, but is unable to maintain it and is sent crashing back to the Arena floor, leaving a hand shaped hole divot.

"Got a problem there, hun?" Delilah mockingly says to Sasha as the latter is still struggling to lift her hand.

"Nope, in fact, I was hoping you'd do this." Sasha replies, looking up at Delilah as she slowly approaches her, Sasha now has stopped struggling against her hand, an determined look on her face.

The moment that Delilah is close enough, Sasha quickly reaches out with her free hand and grabs the left arm of her big coat, pulling her to face the wall across from you. Sasha then kicks the side of Delilah's leg, causing her to lose her footing and fall on top of the former.

Except for the fact that Delilah fell further than she should have and Sasha just sort of...disappeared from under Delilah.

"Ah, dangit!" Delilah exclaims, brushing dust off herself and looking around the Arena.

"We really gonna have to do this again?" Sasha continues, loading her gun and turning towards the prone forms of the Training Bots she dispatched earlier.

>[1/2]
>>
>>7597313

Delilah takes aim in their general direction while rising to a standing position, switching aim to a different Bot every now again.

Due to where she fell and is now standing, Delilah has her back to you and is slightly more to the right of you then before.

Your eyes are focused on the scene in front of you until you feel your left foot being pushed up. You glance down and find Sasha crouched underneath your foot with one hand holding what seems to be a wire, the other hand holding your foot. Sasha looks up at you and winks before letting go of your foot and crouching low, slowly approaching Delilah.

Once Sasha has finally sneaked up behind Delilah, she takes the wire in both hands and quickly wraps around the wrist of Delilah's gun hand, proceeding to yank it up so her gun is facing towards the ceiling. The sudden movement causes her to accidentally fire a round in the air. She then attempts to throw a punch at Sasha, turning her body and throwing her off balance, allowing Sasha to duck the punch and execute a Judo throw resulting Delilah on her back, her gun falling out of her hand and skidding on the Arena floor. Sasha gets to work with the remaining rope left on Delilah's wrist and ties her hands together.

"Got a problem there, hun?" Sasha says, doing a purposely bad impression of the clear loser of this tussle.

"Alright! no need to rub it in. Could ya...untie too? Please?" Delilah shakes her wrist at her to emphasis her question. Sasha obliges and unties her makeshift hand cuffs.

Standing back up and lightly rubbing her wrists, Delilah walks over to her gun and picks it up, quickly inspecting it for any damages. It must be up to snuff as she holsters it with an approving nod, then turns back to you.

"You go those Practical Tests in a little bit, yeah? We'll have this place cleaned up by then."

You check your internal clock and see that it's 4:30am. You don't actually know the time of the tests.

"Yes, what is it?" She turns her head to face you, giving a small smile.

"Do you know when exactly my testing is?"

"Umm...hold on a sec." Sasha reaches into one of her pockets and pulls out her Scroll, and checks a spreadsheet of sorts. You can't access her Scroll like you could Marshall's, probably due to her rank.

"They start at 9:30, so about 5 hours?" She closes her Scroll and returns it to her pocket.

Giving her your thanks, you leave the Combat Arena.

A deep grumble emanates from the giant as if all aggression has been taken away from it.

You keenly observe the Bog Guardian.

Its whole crumbling body is a result of many battles long ago but despite this it is still astoundingly standing upright which was until you shattered its whole left leg apart.

Various plants and insects have already called it they're home all around its body.
It's whole torso looks to be made of cement but its keg-sized fists suggest a more metallic appearance.
You can see cracks its in it joints from the punishment it has received over time which look susceptible to damage.

A rusted looking sphere with odd indents are placed right at its body scrapes and gnashes around to focus at objects like eyes.

It's hulking right arm has sustained considerable damage and it looks like its remaining knee is showing signs of vulnerability.

----------------

The Bog Guardian slowly poises itself to fight once more, realizing it can do nothing to fix its right arm.

The scraping of metal is heard as its core-like head twists to spot you and thunderously digs its undamaged left hand into the earth, sundering it, roaring in the process.

>[x] Wait

You patiently wait for what your foe is about to do next.

Long cracks stretch throughout the dead soil as the Bog Guardian tries to rip out a chunk of the earth in a mighty upheaval.
The combination of the twang and twisting of the metallic sinew within its left arm and the cacophonous bellowing from the colossus echo throughout the foggy bog.
Whatever is out there, you are sure it has heard it.

In its struggle it is slowly, inch per inch, succeeding in tearing a portion of the hard earth which you think it aims to hurl at you.

>[x] Attack arm!

------------

You wouldn't want to be on the other end of the flying piece of land so you immediately take action.

A whipcrack of your weapon connects against the straining thew of its open arm (9).

*FWTAAANG!*

*BRAAACK!* (80)

Bits of metal shoot out as its thick skeletal structure soon give way from the sheer weight, dropping the land from where it came and with it the rest of its arm.
The giant, in pure agony, shoots a bassy outcry sending itself falling on its back from the violent snap of its own limb. (5)

But despite its atrocious injuries, it still tries to get back up again, loyal to the cause of defeating you.

>[x] Attack core

------------------------

In the process of it howling and trying to get back up, you take no chances and go at its core.

*DUWANG* ( *CRIT* 25)

A large dent has been left on the sphere as its one arm thrashes about, trying to thwart your attacks.
It's random flailing does no good on its remaining damaged arm.

Your breath is ragged and tired, your muscles waning from the extraneous effort you've been putting out. (Close to complete exhaustion)

Sorry if offended you and your show?

-------------------

>[x] Stay away and observe

You take a couple steps back before some fragments start hurling your way and calculate what you've done to it.

------------------

The sphere, although possessing a now indented side, whirs and scrapes in panicked frenzy in its futile attempt to hoist itself back up.
Occasional sparks fly out of its crevice from the sporadic revolutions frantically searching for something...or someone.
You conclude that that may be the key to finishing this fight once and for all.

-------------------

The very earth shudders beneath its hysteric battering of anything around it. (5)

>[Explore some more]

You decide that exploring the ship a little more couldn't hurt.

You pass by the Guard Barracks where most of the guards are assuredly asleep. Probably shouldn't go in there.

Continuing from there you enter the Cafeteria. The guard from earlier is now gone and in his place are two tired looking scientists, a guy and a girl, drinking coffee and looking at notes on their Scrolls. Some people probably work harder on here than others.

One of the scientists raises her head and squints at you, before sipping her coffee and returning to look back at her scroll. They probably wouldn't care much for conversation, considering they aren't even talking to each other.

There's still no one in the Lounge and you're not going near the labs just yet, so you decide to return to your room and wait for the time being.

You pass Marshall's room on the way and hear several different voices speaking in his room.

>[Knock]

You knock on the door and wait for a minute.

Nothing.

You knock again, this time harder.

You hear a small shout of surprise, Marshall's, followed by the rest of the voices going silent and foot steps approaching the door. It slides open revealing a tired and upset looking scientist.

"Wha-oh, uh...hi, Cadence. Need something?"

"No, I just heard voices and thought there was something going on in here."

Marshall smiles and rubs one eye.

"I appreciate the concern but there's nothing for you to worry about, no one else here but me."

He emphasizes the "me" with a thumb gesturing to himself, the movement briefly allowing you to see a computer screen with a paused video on it, the face being the scientists you heard outside at a party of some sorts.

Oh, he's reminiscing. You think that's what he's doing, anyway.

"What time is it anyway....Five? Fuck, might as well stay up at this point. You wanna...come to the Cafeteria with me? Or do you wanna stay in your room and I can come get you when it's time for those tests?

Thatcher names all his voters since he likes to run ocho as a comfy safe space to blog and IDs make it so you can tell who's who anyways. He's been hyping up the Eventide bosses based on the JQ voters since like, before JQ II.

>[I'll go with you.]

"I'll go with you." You tell Marshall.

"Ah, okay. I take it you haven't been there?"

Well...

"No I have, twice actually." You inform him.

"Really? Alright then." Marshall steps past you and you follow him on the way to the Cafeteria.

"Did you happen to do anything else? Or did you just go to the Cafeteria twice?" He asks you part way there.

"No I did other things. I walked around the ship, met Delilah Ambrosia and Sasha Korichevy, saw the two of them fight."

"They do that a lot."

"It seemed like it." You respond.

Your remember the weird message you received that started your late night adventure.

"Are there any security flaws to me that you might know of?" You inquisitively ask him

He looks at you strangely.

"No? None that I know of anyway. Atlas put up a ton of money and got one of the best scientists to work on you...and me too, eventually. Why the question, anyway? Just thinking about it?"

"No, I received an encrypted message over a secure connection last night,"

Marshall stops walking and turns towards you, his face surprised.

"What? F-From who?"

"I'm not sure, it was cut after the message was received."

Marshall face turns serious and he grabs your shoulders.

"Cadence, are you messing with me right now? Because if you aren't we may have a real problem on our hands here."

Why would you lie about that?

"No, I'm one hundred percent serious."

He removes his hands from your shoulders and rubs his face.

"What'd it say?" his voice muffled through by his hands.

"Well, it was in Morse but it was just a name, "ISABELITA ALEXANDRO TADES". You see, I searched a database of all the people on Remnant and there isn't anyone named that." You answer.

"Isabelita Alexandro Tades....How was it spelled?" He asks, pulling out his scroll.

You tell him and he types it down.

"It might be an anagram or something like that, I'll try and figure it out later."

An anagram! why didn't you think of that.

But you're right.
It should be just about JQ, and the naming thing was just so I can figure out who the voter was since each of them want different things but I can see how it got out of hand.

No more of that Pterodactyl stuff either, just realized the stupidity of it.
