Off to a great start!

Songs are a form of language, and languages have existed for many hundreds of thousands of years-- from shrieks to warn of eagles or wolves, to growls to warn to back off or there’ll be trouble. The more complex social structures became, the more complex language became to accommodate complex ideas that had to be communicated-- and taught!

The theory goes that songs are useful teaching tools because they’re easy to remember (having a song stuck in your head), are pleasurable to listen to (compared to a lecture), and can be shared socially (like singing in kindergarten or church or hipponese karaoke cafes). This is why many of the oldest songs are about stories or tales (with convenient moral lessons like “This is what happens to bad kits who trust a fox instead of your parents” of “This is what happens to bad parents who trust the foxes instead of your king”).

That’s true for bunnies as much as any other species: our songs taught the morals and lessons of the times. For instance, this is an old ditty that’s still popular among farmer buns:

...Not my cup of tea, but older buns love their music, and are always happy to sing and perform it. They see it as tradition, and enjoy that the music carries messages of a simpler, purer time.

And that’s why so many of them are infuriated that bunny music is becoming more popular.

There’s been a recent boom in other mammals listening to traditional bunny music, starting with an ironic appreciation for old-timey music by hipsters and ending up with an unironic appreciation for old-timey music by hipsters. In fact, new bands that play bunny music are springing up! As the genre becomes more popular, other genres take notice: punk, alt rock, disc jockeys, electronica, rap and hip hop bands are experimenting with bunny music drops or additions or beats or remixes!

This infuriates some of the more conservative bunnies for a number of reasons: they don’t like that their music is being spread among different species who they think won’t be able to appreciate it; they don’t like that the history of it is being forgotten because of new music becoming more popular than the traditional stuff; and don’t like that bunny songs are being written about sex and drugs and stuff rather than those simpler, purer messages and morals of old.

But a closer look into the history and sociology of music reveals their fears may be misplaced! First, the spread of music is one of the cultural foundations of our cosmopolitan society: species sharing their tantalizingly different music with other species helped bridge divides between their cultures, and helped to bring them closer together. To say that lions couldn’t appreciate boar music or that leopards couldn’t play antelope music is a fabrication that flies in the face of history, which is filled with examples of cultures being inspired by the music of others and adopting their formals qualities into their own! Second, the appreciation for bunny music has revitalized interest within it, and the expanding core fans take great pride and interest in its history-- which itself is derived from the music of other (usually ruling or neighboring farming) species’ music that bunnies of old liked and wanted to sing themselves!

I am trying to think of greentext ideas for Violet but I can't really think of anything. I want to try to avoid the whole "therapist/psychiatrist" idea that everyone has going for her, but at the same time she doesn't seem like the farming type of bunny.

This. Violet is not quiet or reserved, at least when it comes to family. She tried to convince Judy to stay home to heal, when it seemed like Judy was alright to go back to work. When that didn't work, she and their family tried to force Judy to stay home. Then they rush to catch up to Judy when she runs, and almost causes a bus to crash. Also there was zero hesitation in standing up to Bogo.

I think it is Genny being genuinely scared, and her previous shots before this were her using that fear in her acting so it "looked live, but not in character". She doesn't seem to have a real aversion to working with Ace as far as we've seen (her whole reluctance to opening the door or the "can it wait til tomorrow?" could just her being tired) but having a fox growl at her could, and clearly does, scare her for whatever reason.

I hope the same thing where there isn't a edgy backstory, at best maybe something similar to Judy or even just being scared during the three month pred-scare.

It would be amusing if Genny actually talked to Judy and asked her how she wasn't scared of Nick, and that leads to some heart-to-heart with Ace.

So, I've been thinking about Mead's new comic lately.

April 1st. April fools day is exactly 10 weeks from when Mead first posted chapter 1 of his comic.

I believe that Mead is planning a grand scale ruse with his comic. A ruse of Weaver proportions. I believe that he's gonna set up the whole comic just for that one day. He's done it before and he'll do it again.

Not really, it was shit. No foreshadowing, no buildup, characters never really fit the new setting she made. It wasn't really a twist either, since it's just like adding Judy and Nick getting run over at the last second just to get people saying "FEELS, so very sad, I cannot even, I'm cry". Worst of all the author did it so they could tie it in with a supposed sequel where Judy and Nick are working as cops, Nick with instead of a collar a shock bracelet. Said sequel haven't even had a single page yet, so as it stands currently it was just something to ruin all the slice of life atmosphere it had previously.

You know, it's not like Judy is Dead is a bad story or anything, but I don't like how the thing has becoming this meme that acts like an ameboa and eats everything.

Well, it's expected. It is the only thing worthwhile to come off these threads, and Mead made it amazing. People really want more of the political tension between new species and Zootopia, the heartwrenching and epic evil plot that claim Judy's life and Nick becoming Chief Wilde. It's the same team that brought JiD, and Mead's a rusemaster that made the last day be an april's fool, so it isn't out of question that Writeanon WutB be on the same universe of JiD.

"Judy is Dead" had its ups and downs; my personal favorite moment was the "The Last Day" because, even if it was "ABLOO ABLOO JUDY IS DEAD, it was an interesting look in seeing how Nick continues to move on for Judy's memory at least. My personal least favorite comic was "The One to Remember", it just seemed to be hostile out of nowhere. Nick had just defended July from the Mayor, only to turn around, make a horrible soul-crushing speech to July, and continue as if it was nothing important.
