Yeah I'm still learning. I can barely draw a back at all as you can see.

Problem with back muscles is that it's hard to make them stand out correctly without adding some kind of sheen or shade to bring out their form and I suck at that. Sometimes Undyne is depicted as a beanpole too so it's not completely out of character.

The character you posted is neatly made for sure but those muscles don't make a whole lot of sense to me. The waist area is alright but those upper back muscles are awkward. Like they stand out TOO much.

I love the writing. So that's up to taste, and I cannot argue that.

The writer explains Undyne's character in the pastebin. Among other things, the main one I cling onto the most is that Undyne's "base" character in Undertale has a very limited breadth of expansion. It makes certain slice of life-esque stories a bit harder if you had to stick with NGAAAH Undyne.

If the stories aren't written well in your opinion then that's ok but most people here consider them very well written, myself included. That's exactly why the stories are so well liked. The quality of the writing really sets them apart from your average fanfic writing in a good way even if the character isn't close to canon.

The position I've always taken is that the Undyne I'm writing is basically an older, mellower Undyne who's like chilled out a little and I think if you look at it in that light it makes sense.

As to whether the stories are well-written or not, I tend to think they are, you know, just looking at them detachedly, and I'm a published writer, so make of that what you will. Not that it's particularly difficult to get published, but I get the sense that a lot of fanfic writers are just doing it as a hobby or whatever.
