What even is people's idea of an attention whore? In comparison to real attention whores Weaver has substance.
He's an interesting guy and has been doing his things for a long time now. Dedication to his works and a good sense of humor define him, that's who he is.
When these threads started his posts almost always derailed them. But that's to be expected, he automatically draws attention to him when he enters a room. His art is just eye catching.
To add to this he almost always apologized for dragging so much concentration away from other artists, encouraging people to post their own stuff.
Where do people get the idea that they can just call everybody who they don't like an attention whore?

I think calling people you don't like rude and untruthful things on the internet is a tradition, especially here.

With this being the dead hours and all lets spruce this up a bit.

Has there ever been a fic/green/anything Zootopia related, that was so terrible and just poorly made that you just have to talk about for some catharsis? Let's share with each other the one thing, that has messed us up and just can't stop thinking about it. Be it by suspension of disbelief/jumping the shark/poor grammar and/or a horrible ending. Let us be each others shrinks.

For my own, it would have to be "Fox Hunt" an Nick/Human OC that was so mindbogglingly full of "WHAT", I just couldn't stop reading it and I wish I could give myself a lobotomy now. Everyone just needs to hear to believe it.
The basic plot is this: Judy loves Nick, Judy takes Nick back to her farm for a vacation and to tell him that she loves him. But Nick falls in love with the Human ranch hand of the Hopps Farm. Nick only see's Judy as a sister, thus abloo abloo sad bun commences.

One of the first moments that just had me saying "oh god, you have to be joking!" Was an author AN. That had him telling the readers that most humans (or at least the squad mates of the Human, because of COURSE he is/was in the military!) That all of them had the basic body structure of Markus from Gears of War. Yup, I ain't fucking with you.

The other moment was when Judy finally walked in on the two of them and she finally realized she is pretty much never going to have Nick. She ends up running away and getting drunk to forget about them. But she wakes up the next morning and finds out she ended up taking home a fox that her drunk mind thought was Nick. And preceded to have sex with a stranger, and said stranger is also married. Even more abloo abloo happens and it's the final stretch to one of the most unsatisfying and awful endings I have read before, and I couldn't stop laughing by it's end.

So Anon. What is yours? Let us be your ears to listen to the pure awful you have read before.

You can see the knowledge in anatomy and the facial expressions are top notch.
Also, just looking at the Remmy gif tutorial you can see the skill he has, no sketch required, sure and clean lines. And before that he did everything with a mouse.

25 year old Kameela, a raccoon working at the DMV in Central Zootopia, is one of the biggest fans of heavy metal/hard rock in the mega city. She loves to scream her frustrations out à la a red panda on foreign television.

Hi /ztg/, I hope you like this interpretation of Kameela, the lovely raccoon who got little screen time in the graphic novel. I love raccoons and so I wanted to add some character to her, she's got such a delightful design to her. Wish I knew the artist who did the comics.

For me personally, there is one story that comes to mind. It is a one-shot called "I still Think of Her Occasionally"; the basic premise is that at some point Nick and Judy, at some point, drifted apart because Nick had pushed her away when she wanted to advance their relationship. Nick later regrets this because he was scared of having his own heart broken like it was before in the past by other females.

There were strange moments within the story that seemed to contradict itself, or have stupidity for the save of drama. Judy was rumored to have moved on, getting a buck boyfriend. Nick knew this, and he went over to Judy's apartment hoping it wasn't true. Once he sees that it is true, he takes a job offer from another precinct given to him outside of Zootopia.

Wolford, who Nick had gotten close to during the time he and Judy drifted apart, tells Judy of this and when Nick is leaving. She tries to stop Nick, only to be too late to get to the train. She is given the carrot pen, which has a recording of her and Nick...giggling and Judy showing Nick "how she feels"? She then goes on to think, now with Nick gone, she has never felt so alone. Which doesn't make sense, since she has a fucking buck boyfriend.

There are a few other stories here and there that I could complain about, but I will leave those for another time.

Except for the "Zootopian Chronicles". Just putting it out right here, I've read "Fox Hunt" and I would say that "Zootopian Chronicles" is a much, much worse Zootopia/Human story.

I can explain:
once (we are talking roughly at the beginning, March/April) in these threads there was a CC who did a comic with a very yandere Judy (pic related is the first), following a trend of those days. As you can see the art is more than decent and these pages has been reposted quite a number of times here (some weeks once per thread), so everyone was a little worried when the author disappeared without a word.
They came back at the end of June (https://desuarchive.org/trash/thread/3617907/#3620232), when there was a new yandere Judy craze, saying that they left because they received much less attention than Weaver and also because a friend of them said that even their next project will have less attention than Weaver works. We all (Weaver included) told them that their comics were very popular and that, really, it isn't a race to who gets the most (You)s. They posted a couple of WIP pics saying that they will go back to the comic but then they disappeared.

Maybe I'm a petty person, but I can understand. When Weaver is posting, you cannot post anything near him because it will get ignored. When he is actively posting, it's like a planet's gravity and if you don't avoid it, no one will see or care about your work.

Well, (You)s are a thing, but not everything. There is much more.
I find usually the best way to see if some art was well liked is after. Is it reposted? Did the work spark an interesting conversation?
As a CC, I feel this is truly a successful work.
You can get (You)s, and receiving a lot when your post is good, but so are able many bait posts, a simple yet effective image, etc.
Also I find that in these threads while Weaver is important, we have a piece for every CC. And sometimes they overshadow completely Weaver. When JiD was rolling, Mead could have been the most talked CC. When there is Wildecest, there it is Visiti. When you want to talk about history you have Comic and Labjer.
And so on.
But these are just my thoughts.

We could always be better about showing our appreciation to content creators: people spend their time and energy on stuff solely for love and feedback. But you can't force a person to like something. There will be people here who don't want to talk about your stuff because it's not Weaver/its not Porn/its not Inflation Porn/its not SFW/its not just canon characters/its not OCs/its not a drawing/its not a fic/its not a request fulfill of their shitty non-Zootopia fursona. That's just the makeup of the threads, and there's no onus on anyone to give X responses for Y post.
There are anons here who pretty much just give feedback, and there are artists and writers who will bend over backwards to give help improve people. There is no harm in saying "I feel depressed because I made something and it didn't take off, what happened?" But blaming others makes them feel shitty, and is counter productive if you want more attention.

I get that it happens, I get that it sucks. I got real morose after MisterE said his fics were a waste after he didn't get enough attention, cause he got more (You)s in a single post than I got with all my fics. I just think the change is best to come artist side rather than "competing" artist side or consumer side, because the latter two will be an uphill battle compared to the former.
I don't mean this with malice, I just hope the other CCs here realize that writing 100,000 words of OC driven rated-R nonlewd drama will not get as much attention as 3,00 words of canon driven lewd comedy/comf, and established names garner attention more than newcomers (sometimes; there are exceptions because some people here love new CCs more than old ones) because they have an established quality. But then you think about it. They have been creating and training for YEARS, maybe more. I've started six months ago.
And then, now that I see my old drawings, I say: Damn, some of these are really shitty. But they seemed so good at the time. And why? Because, in the mind of the author, effort equals quality. But sadly you need to take into account that effort cannot be restrained to a single piece. This is definitely an attitude that artists get rooted a lot in poor self-imaged and lack of confidence that can seem to be reinforced by a "poor" response. There are actually very few artists here who have training of any kind, I believe. Off the top of my head, Fuel, Nobby, Gud, Bobo, Middry and Rose must have had some university training, but many are hobbyists.

Well, first sorry I have my software in spanish, but usually I use the pencil and the "fusion" tool.

After I have the line work I apply the shadows in another layer and then with "fusion" blur them. Remember that the way you trace while blurring will affect on how the shadows will look.

I also use the "Diluted color" which makes your traces more artistic, and if your apply small pressure on your pen you can also use it to blur, just that in this caste is harder to work on small details.

I was rejected from my creative writing minor without any explanation as to where I needed to improve or what I had done wrong, save for my poetry instructor who wrote "This is the worst thing I have ever read" in red ink over my submission to his class.

I don't have any answers on how to improve drawing, but what I can tell you is I've never talked to any artist or craftsperson that'll say its a trick: its all basics basics basics. Improving foundation is boring, tedious, monotonous, and grueling, and its not the magic bullet anyone wishes, but skills are a pyramid built on having that underlying layer.

Proactive practice and studious research. You do that for 8 years, you'll be great at anything you do.

Don't worry, it happens to everyone, even me, even if I'm so young from an artistic standpoint.
I think the only solution I can give you is the following: analyze in a critical way.
First take the pics of artists you like. Then yours. Then begin comparing every single point.
It can be painful, but it is necessary.
Begin: of what you are not satisfied? Is it the lineart? Is it the colours? The shadows? The proportions? The basics?The fourth finger of the left hand?
You shouldn't say "It sucks". You should say "WHY it sucks".
Then search the other drawings and compare. Learn. Absorb.
Almost everything I know about drawing tubedudes I've got from Alec's drawings. I've studied colour theory (especially on how a colour changes with the adjacent) by looking at a Middry pic. I've become better at drawing fur by studying Rose's, Inky's, Gerardson's and even your drawings. If you can't learn from school learn from others. Don't look at other artists as opponents, but as teachers, so you can be teacher yourself.

yeah, i spend a long time on just one picture regardless if i do that or not. one of my issues it being a perfectionist. i have done some studies to help my painting and i find every time i learn a lot with them. i take a photo and try to create as close to a 1:1 as i can.

There were some weird professors at Berkeley, and I think many of them went outside what I would consider a professional attitude with their students. In an art theory class I was used as an example of how income inequality creates unfair advantage in education because I said I had seen a painting they were asking questions about in its gallery before the semester.

But overall it was still a great experience. A few bad apples doesn't spoil the batch.

These are quite the problem, also for me, but let's see if I can help.
Like everything, you start from the basics. Cube, spheres, cylinders, and so on. First you need to become acquainted in drawing them from all point of views, perspective, projections and so on. Boring but it helps.

Then you see that the biggest role is given by shadows. Look at the drawing you have posted.
It is easier to give a 3D effect because you already have tones.
So my suggestion is this: after basic training on 3D shapes, when you sketch the first draft, draw every circumference, every hidden line, every idea of a shadow (with dashed lines).
Connect them.
Then keep only the lines that you could actually see, like in the pic I posted.

Draw/write for yourself first, and other people second. Draw/write because it's what you love to do.

If you're out purely to get (You)s and you're not getting any, maybe it's time to switch up your content, but if you don't like what you're doing it's going to show in your work too.

No one can magically make you not feel jealous/ignored/whatever and I know this from a history of posting shit on the internet, but just know that doing so only perpetuates a cycle of bitterness that can be changed with a fresh outlook or a powerful creative drive.
