Go back to working on the update or reading fanfiction. Neither of those things make people feel left out if they can't support the streaming artist.

Kaz you have a terrible habit of giving authority to people that abuse it like so many 12 year old's hosting private mmo servers. it made the fanart booru awful, it's made your streams awful, and in some way it's caused the hiatus itself by giving crucial responsibilities to people that straight up couldn't handle it. The rules for posting on the fanart booru dont make sense anymore, things get moderated for no reason and it's a giant comment circlejerk. And in the stream chat if you ruffle certain mod's feathers or say something that triggers their special snowflake sensitivities you get silently removed.

I actually do get a good amount of new people commissioning, and got pretty much the same complaint about it being a small in-group when I did fanfiction. Also, complaints that some of the people in the voice chat were too annoying and/or spoke over others. Ideally, I'd like to find some way to do fun stuff without giving an "old guard" too much of a voice - or outright punishing them.

It may be time for a large-scale de-modding, though. I mostly wanted to see what modding all those people would do. I think it made them annoying. Any favorites I should keep?

The "in crowd" argument seems a bit biased. As a regular, I've never witnessed any new viewer be socially ostracized or excluded. That matter is more that with 40 people constantly talking over one another, it's easy to have your voice drowned out. The behaviors are pretty par for the course, as far as internet interactions go. No more "autistic" than this thread's mere existence. The mod issue from the other night stemmed almost entirely from a joke, though. A couple mods began self-censoring to see if they could, and a few others took that as initiative to say things that begged to be censored. That escalated to censoring everything as it occurred, but in good fun. Anyone with hurt feelings over the matter vastly over estimates the importance of anything said during a SadKat bar stream.

The last few streams were insufferable because not only did the mods pursue the previous point, but they had more than enough unguided power to make sure that if you were not amused by them, you were clearly antagonistic to the whole. It's pretty natural for people to want to fuck a character they like. This is obviously one of the big driving forces behind Rule 34, but also a lot of fanfiction and roleplaying. And honestly, of all the reasons you could want to fuck something, liking its character is a pretty healthy one. We're basically doing exactly what we evolved to do.

I guess I could say that I find it flattering because it means so many people like the comic, but I have other metrics that show that just as well. I think it's more just a consequence. Though, one that sometimes acts as advertising!

It's not that horrible. I mean, a lot of the evolved mechanisms that drive our behavior are basically vestigial at this point. It's more beneficial for us to reproduce with someone who has a good job and has engaged in years of planning than it is for us to reproduce with someone who has the vitality and body structure to pump out dozens of children so that one or two of them will make it past 3 years of age. We're basically the biological equivalent of the Skyrim Creation Kit, filled with checkboxes and options designed for an older game of a completely different genre that still need to be filled out the right way or the game will break.

So, we act in the ways beneficial to us in modern society, and then we fulfill all those outdated elements of our psychology by drawing a picture of a creamy smooth catperson with semicircular hips pressing her breasts against an uninstalled glass pane in a disco club. It's actually rather impressive.
