If you have to skip, you have to skip. There's no point in beating yourself up about it. Use the time you would have spent at the gym doing something productive and tell yourself at least you didn't let it go to waste. Positive thinking is the only way forward anon, always look for the good side of something and focus on that. It might not come easy to you (it really sounds like you're way to hard on yourself to me) but try to look for some silver lining , ANY silver lining, and concentrate on that. You need to build yourself up mentally as well as physically.

Manchas is written really well in his dialogue. His personality, or at the very least his public demeanor, is stated without a lot of extradiegetic description. The narrator speaks in a different voice, one which emphasizes a more dramatic, less formal, cutting style. As it stands, when Manchas begins to speak internally, he speaks almost as a hybrid of these two styles, sometimes strongly dramatic, sometimes strongly formal, which to me seems somewhat schizophrenic - if this implies an internal conflict, I would make this more clear by making the switches in style in the middle of sentences and more random in their occurrence, more jarring, to bring home the point.
Besides that, I personally found the description of the waiting room somewhat rote; it's very clear, but there's not much interesting in it, to be honest. It's nothing against your writing, just I don't think as written that image was particularly relevant to the story.
The ending is fantastic, and very believable. Future developments suggested by the ending are very exciting. I'm really excited to see where this goes, if you decide to continue.

Probably, though I hope Weaver is willing to consider trying something else, as I think I've seen that sort of plot used in a few 90s sitcoms.

What else could happen...

He could build something off the prior chapter's suggestion that Anne has dated some shitheads in her past; have her hook up with someone early on, ditching Remmy, and it later turns out the guy is yet another smooth talking prick, resulting in Remmy eiter sticking up for her or cheering her up when things go sour (yeah, another 90s sitcom trope, so sue me).

They both could have a good time and the story would be less about conflict or connection between them and more about Remmy learning to enjoy himself in what could be another pred dominant social scene (a bit fluffy and lacking in story substance, but still room for fun).

Or maybe the "date" could end up as a red herring and the story deviates into something else entirely, possibly leaving Anne adding their failed outing to the same debt pile as the undelivered slider.

One of the things I love about writing is the fact that you can take a simple premise and literally go anywhere with it.
