Plenty of MH wyverns and dragons stick in the air a shitload, much to the ire of short range weapons. Depending on the map or game, they can keep constantly changing areas.

Then you got Skyrim >dragons that whizz around in the air doing nearly unavoidable drive-by attacks and then land after a bit for some reason despite being intelligent.

Yes it's frustrating when dragons don't use their brains for shit and are intelligent. Here's the deal though: A lot of dragons are lazy brutes, or fuck up with no way out halfway through the fight in the lair. A lot of them have never had a reason to worry ever.

What can you do? Write better ones, anon. Write your own dragons who are cautious and kill would be adventurers with a good dose of Tucker's kobolds.

The thing about stories is that they tell the tale the authors want. We don't yet have a lot of dragon or kobold centric stories. Help us get some.

Yes, they are one of my favorite book series. E.E. Knight knows when to go into detail and when to move things along, unlike tolkien (imo). There is a lot of pretty good dragon to human(and other race) interaction. The dragons are all intelligent and capable of speech, and there is a fair bit of slice of life stuff between adventures.

The worldbuilding in particular is also really great. Almost every character you meet has some significance later, and the same goes for almost every place.

If you enjoy LOTR type settings, but want a dragon centralized story, these are the books for you.

Dunno why you deleted your post, but it's designed to be skill-based rather than a button mashing kind of thing. The trick is that you have to build up a rhythm, iirc the first 3 dashes can be kind of "loose" in their timing, but anything beyond that has to be done at a fairly strict rhythm. Feels pretty good once you get the hang of it.
