Concerns: Making hard cover books is a large investment of time and resources, certainly not worth a bunch of anons.

I'll take the bait; you could argue it is "easier" to write than it is to draw but you still have to have creativity in order to write a scenario in the first place, as well as the determination to finish a piece as it is, just like drawing, very easy to envision a story and quickly lose track/focus of what and how you wanted to write it.
Past that I just think it is in bad taste to say a certain type of content creator isn't worth anything to another type. If you prefer drawings and comics to written stories, ok. But plenty like to read those stories and consider them just as important as fanart. We have had plenty of stories that inspiried fanart, and vise versa.

As a visual artist, writing is more difficult to me than drawing. When I draw, the quality is absolute, I can tell very quickly what is wrong or what needs fixing.

There's a lower demand for writing than there is for images. The vast majority of people here are not waiting for a new fic about an OC to drop. Then again, theyre also not waiting for art of an OC, or nonlewd art about any other characters.
Its simply market demand. Nothing malicious, just the facts. I say this as someone pretty much solely interested in OC fanfics. I'm glad we have designated readers to keep writefags motivated: there ain't no VRbit for artfags.

It is partly as >>6980270 said, "quality is absolute" when it comes to drawing, it is much easier to consume and determine how good fanart is compared to writing. I can simply look at a drawing and think "Holy shit, this guy has some great talent." compared to the time it takes to read a story. The effort put in is much more apparent in fanart than when you read fanfiction; obviously you can tell when something is written like shit but, for both the author and the reader, it can take a bit of time to see if the writing needs improvement.

It's true. Darkest Places was a comic adaptation of greentext, and Writeanon helped a lot with JiD's later plot. That might be for the worse considering where it went, but Pearls Before Swine was both canon to JiD and referenced by it. Pretty much all of Swinton's character was developed by Writeanon, I think.
