Size is only one factor to consider, another is their ability to successfully blend in. A panther in Tundra Town would be conspicuous as they can't handle the cold all that well. If the species however were a something like a bear or wolf they could conceivably blend in any district given they are found near globally in the real world. As for VAs, they aren't spot on and not perfect but it's clear they made their best effort and don't break the scene
As for animatioon, I've seen literally no complaints. It's fluid, it has new frames that the original comic didn't, and the simplified lipsynching adds a lot.
Overall mostly liked, especially for as hyped as it was for many.

As a kid I regularly had nightmares about a particular supernatural entity

The dreams would start with me in a house, generally not my own. There would be a door left ajar somewhere in the house, and I would just have this awful dread, that I KNEW this creature, dubbed in the dream as "Smiles," was coming to kill everyone in the house cuz the door was left open. I would struggle to close the door, but could never manage, or somebody would open another door in response.

The dream always ended with Smiles on the threshold, black cloak, pure white face, and pure black eyes and smile.

Only critical bit I have for now is that Charlie's dialogue doesn't seem to really "match" her.

I couldn't see her as saying "dweeb" and she'd use his name (first or last) before anything else for instance. So I'd just advise making some tweaks for her and you should be good for the most part.
