I think they were trying to showcase some fight scenes with no real need to justify them, but it all ends up being crap.
The fights themselves are pretty bad, there's no real motivation for the characters being there, and there were no rivalries that were established before then.

A really flimsy excuse to introduce characters like Penny and have people from all over the world gather for Salem's first real 'attack' against humanity that was intended to split the world just as it split RWBY.
To Vale and the rest of Remnant it looks like Atlas let Cinder in then left them to die, while also hiding some pretty shady shit like hunter-tier androids that can mostly blend into society, barring a conversation that lasts longer than 5 minutes. Looking back at it, for all the shittyness that came from Naruto, it at least got some things right. Like a villain with understandale motives. Or a tournament arc that had some actual stakes in it.
I can't help but feel that it only got worse as it grew more popular and the publishers got more and more control over it.
It went from "Hard work can achieve just as much as talent" to "Fuck your hard work, just transplant a shitton of body parts from people with talent into yourself until you become a demi-god".
That run cycle is still the most autistic thing ever though. After the protagonist.

Naruto itself was pretty great. I loved everything through the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.

It was Shippuden where things fell off the wagon and we went from training your specific niche to pulling powers out of your ass for each new 'even stronger!' bad guy. The worst was Kishi writing himself into a corner with Madara so he had to pull Kaguya out of no where to kill him because there was no way Naruto and Sasuke could, then made Kaguya being only weak to Naruto and Sasuke. God that was shit.

At least the final battle was ok.

Looking over the car you’re in, you see a small population, most are the same people you see every ride. Most passengers stick to the lower level to get on and off quicker while you and most people on the second story are in it for the long haul, to Gate 15.

You arrive at the open-air station at what should be around 11am. Making your way to the first level and out the doors, you take in the brisk air. Before you can make your way out of the station, a tug at your jacket and a growl of “Schwarz” stops you in your tracks. You recognize the voice as your teammate Miriam Wulfram and she does not sound happy.

He leans back at you and greets, "Morning, boss!" Lily is half asleep and gives you a pat on the shoulder. Together you're Team SWRZ, a hunter team that takes on assignments from the Schnee Dust Company.

It's significantly cooler than the rest of the building. You find that out when your bare ass makes contact with the toilet seat. You relax, letting it all out. You almost forget to wash your hands before exiting the restroom.

You rejoin your team before heading to the security room. Up the stairs and down a hall lined with portraits of the Schnee family, you arrive at the solid metal door. A chip embedded in your ID card grants you access to the room, which is more of a miniature office in of itself. The secretary, Ms. Lilac, reaches over her desk to shake you hand. "You guys arrived just in time! Mr. Dun has been in a mood but right now he's in a conference call with headquarters. I just need your signature here, Mr. Schwartz, and you're set." A couple flicks of your wrist leave your signature on the check-in sheet. Your team swiftly heads to the arms room. There, you collect your weapon, a lever-action rifle with bayonet. It chambers five .44 Magnum rounds, more than enough to take down your average Beowulf. Miri grabs her shield and short-barreled shotgun, affixing the latter to the former. The shotgun holds two rounds but they can pack a punch. Richard's weapon of choice is a basket-hilted sword with a long tassel hanging from the pommel. Lastly is Lily, who wields a quarterstaff that houses fan-like blades.

Down the stairs and out the building in the yard you and your team go. The clock strikes noon. Your shift begins.

The boar still blind is caught unawares as Brazzle smacks the pig clear across its face knocking it over.

Fuego not to be outdone jumps on the fallen boar and begins to claw it its side as it weakly tries to resist.

The first boar starts to get up sensing that its tormentors are now gone.

But you are already there to finish the job.

You spray your acid directly into the pig’s broken face.

The weakened flesh gives way as it eats through the boars head, its leg kicks once and it lies still.
The body disintegrates into a puff of black smog.

And with TyFag kinda being akin to Dryden (even with the Quest-dropping!) and Kale being akin to CYOAnon, I thought I might just be able to be a bit akin to Thatcher and complete the remakes of the original trilogy.

Prologue: In The Atelier

You find yourself hovering inside a white void. Weightless, effortless, feelingless.
Slowly, your senses creep back to you, back from a beautiful place that did not let you in. Your senses know what it looked, sounded or felt like... you want to ask your senses for the beautiful place.

But the white void is getting drowned out by a blinding, black and empty room, the sound of nothing is seeping into your every orifice like honey, caulking your mind. And you can feel the lack of gravity or surface, like you have been just pinned to an empty piece of space.
You have forgotten what the beautiful place was like.

You blink, and the black nothing births a door in front of you. You are not left a choice, as the door opens and a room floods out of it, blustering around you, hugging you like an old but alienated friend.

You find yourself looking at the door, standing so close to it that you can just barely make out what's to its sides. Ornamented walls that seem to strech out behind you, as if you were just about to leave this room.

The door opens and you move through, into a room with ornamented walls stretching out in front of you.
White and Cream all over, crystal chandeliers draping the ceiling, a granite tile floor and soft, leather benches in the center of the room. It looks like out of a tasteless fairytale, about an emperor with no real power, hosting balls and galas.
Two sides of the room are embroidered with nine statues and, on one side in the middle, an empty, slightly higher podium.
All nine statues depict beautiful women, carrying different items, and their plaques showing strange, but familar names.

Suddenly, a man appears on one of the benches, sitting and looking at you curiously. Almost as if he was there the whole time, but you simply didn't notice him until now.

"A visitor. Of course, it was only a matter of time."
His voice is one of calmness. Like that of an older brother.
His appearance is...hard so grasp.
In one moment, he looks like a figure wrapped in a crimson cloak, in the next, you can see plates of wood on his cheeks and cogs spinning beneath his wrists, and then it swaps to a simple three-piece suit of grey and red.
But always, beneath an oilblack thatch of hair, his young, clean shaven face bears a pointy nose, a weak chin and eyes that speak of the great plans he seems to have.
