The season was not without its good parts although it made me question what direction the show is moving at times, and unfortunately in my experience that's often an early sign that I'm going to end up dropping a show within the next season or two. I read your fic just now, and I wanted to say that it was very well done! We get almost nothing of any of the shrew characters, and you wrote the narrator beautifully. Really vivid descriptions of the house and garden, as well!
The only thing I didn't like is that it ended very abruptly, just as the conversation was getting to the most interesting point. It made the conversation feel unfinished; if that was the mood you were going for, I understand, but I think such a mood could be reflected in the character's actions better, right now they seem to be wrapping things up far too neatly after the outburst. The last line is golden, and sums up their relationship perfectly.
I just pissed on the end of it, but that was my favorite TT fic so far. Thank you so much for writing it!

Judy Jr. would be an interesting character to see. I know the fandom keeps going back and forth on Fru Fru's position as a Big, generally more of one that she is innocent and seperate from the mob, but considering that she didn't really have an issue with "Icing" as much as it happening on her wedding I assume she is fine with family business. I like it because the characters represent so much together. Judy tries hard and does her best. Nick holds a lot inside, but comes out a better person. They're completely and utterly different, and that's what makes them work so well together. As much as the taboo nature of interspecies relationships is questioned, I like to thing that it's something they break through despite contrary opinion.

I am reading it as "that (the fandom feels) they have chemistry", which I guess they do in a sense. Both Gideon and Judy have come to realize their faults that they didn't recognize they had until pointed out (Gideon by his doctor and possibly his family, Judy by Nick and the Zootopia Riots), and they understand that they have hurt others with their actions. Sadly we just don't see that much of Gideon since he is almost just a plot device, so there isn't anything else to go by other than what we can guess. Which is a shame since what we can guess makes him into a somewhat interesting character.
He mentions having "self-doubt" which some would argue is a metaphor for being gay but I would like to think that a more in-universe reason would be Gideon being completely unlike a stereotypical fox; where a fox is known to be slim, sly, and smart, Gideon is big, blunt, and dumb. He either realizes this or other foxes make fun of him for this, leading to his self-doubt. He sees Judy as a child, who wants to be completely unlike a stereotypical bunny, and gets jealous and tries to bring her down.

This is what I always liked about him: even as a bit character, he follows in the 'break stereotypes' mold (forgetful elephant, speedfiend sloth, etc), but there's a really interesting identity crisis thing going with him.

His favorite insult for Judy is calling her a 'dumb' bunny, and takes offense to Travis correcting him. Judy shuts him up by calling him 'small minded'.

He reminds me a lot of people who take their race or religion as identity, rather than individuality. Whenever I see this personally, its usually because they don't have a lot of pride in themselves. My friend loves to talk about how he, 'as a Russian', views the world, but he's incredibly self conscious about his weight and not having a job. Its like his nationality is his security blanket.

I kind of see that for Gideon, too.

And this is what makes Gideon's later appearance almost feel good; he seems to have found that pride within himself now. He makes jokes about his intelligence because now he found his passion in pastries.
He is comfortable within his own fur now, and really only seems to be nervous when coming to terms with his past mistakes.

I've been curious about this myself. I've messed with the concept a lot actually. At least in my head.
