/tup/ - Tulpa General
Kot edition.

>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

Same here. I always told her that I don't rule out getting lewd with her in the future but want to wait until the creation process is complete, (done with personality, vocality and visualization) but she just keeps trying to make it happen. when does my tup start doing things on his own

right now he's still kind of just a mind-person who listens but doesnt talk or move or anything unless i use my mind to make him
>>
>>6611524
It depends on the host, anon. I've had a tulpa take >1 month to talk, and one that only took a week or so before she's communicating with some fluency. Some hosts take 3+ months to get a response. It really just depends. Something that you can do is simply take intrusive thoughts (most people typically typically have these where something just pops into your head out of the blue) and "assign" them to your tulpa. Like, all of a sudden "haha, babies are so dumb" pops into your head, you can assign that to your tup by saying that she said that. If something comes up and you don't think it'd be a good fit for her, just label it "intrusive thought" in your head and ignore it.

Posted last thread, except something told me I should have named him River, so that's his name for now, which he's pleased with.

He's really peaceable and often hangs around in my mind-zone, which looks like a grassy meadow with a lake and a single, lone tree that he likes to lay up against and read books. There's almost always a full moon, but the real nice thing is that fireflies come out at night and they illuminate the tree, the lake and the area around the two, so he is able to read still. Seems kind of simple and lame when I think about it but hey he really likes it. He's more of a really, really close friend rather than a husbando or a waif but I love it still.

I can't think of any fictional characters that may have subconsciously influenced his appearance, but I'm sure there's some. Sometimes I like to prop myself up next to him in front of the tree and we read together. It's the most comfy thing I've ever felt.

well this sounds like it's batshit crazy

A) how does one make a tulpa?

B) how long should it take before one sees results, and what would those results be?

C) how do tulpas communicate? is their voice like an audible hallucination or is it like the little narrating voice that you can "hear" in a sense when you read? and how does one go about seeing them and such?

I'll be sure to give it a try, if only to see what happens.

also, are there any tie-ins with lucid dreaming? can you share dreams with them, or is it more like they show up in them?

so many questions for something that could be an absolute crock...

>>
>>6612308
>How does one make a tulpa
Read the OP
>Results
Vary for everyone but usually about 1 month. You get a companion that's closer to you and more understanding than any human will ever get.
>How do they communicate
At first head pressures and emotions. Later they talk to you in your mind and you can learn to hear them like you hear other people. You see them when your eyes are closed and with tons of hard work you can impose them into your eyes' vision.

You do realize that I've kept these threads from dying on more than one occasion, right? Of course you do. Have fun in my thread, ya bunch of pussies. Heh. I crack me up.
>>
>>6612308
>I'll be sure to give it a try, if only to see what happens.
Do keep in mind that the process is essentially convincing your mind to handle thoughts in a way that goes against what it's spent years normalizing. If you don't actually believe that it's possible then you probably aren't going to convince your mind that it's possible either.

>dreaming
You can pretty much share any mental function with them, including dreaming. You can bring them into a lucid dream just as easily as you would into a wonderland. I imagine that you'd have to get used to having them around without consciously thinking about it before they'd easily show up in a normal dream, though I can't say I have much experience with non-lucid tulpa dreams.

>tell me the secrets of magicking a conscious being into existence!
It's a purely psychological phenomenon, formed through a long series of habits and associations. No magic whatsoever.

The idea of form originality is so absurd because any sort of creative pursuit by a human being (making a tulpa included) is going to be the sum of experiences in the world and in media. Actually being concerned about originality in any sense of the word just makes you seem short-sighted, whether you're writing a screenplay or making a tulpa.
>>
>>6619663
what he means is tulpas that have the forms of characters vs tulpas who have an appearance that is all their own. i mean its stil a dumb argument but whatever dog when my tulpa asks me if i like a form i say i dont give a shit because its their body and sonic taught me nobody should be allowed to touch your body if you dont want them to because thats no good

Original is better because, let's be real, you're eventually going to want it changed anyway. And the less reliant of cultural phenomena the form is, the longer it'll take to become 'weird'. The idea of a grizzled old man having a tulpa from a kids' cartoon dating back 50 years ago doesn't really seem realistic.

Any general tips on improving my Tulpa's voice volume? Sometimes it is just so quiet?

>>
>>6620616
Regularly ask her to shout and speak up. It will get better.

Ask her how she feels about the stuff you are doing.
>>
>>6620709
I try that but things that aren't yes or no are quite hard to understand.

>Any general tips on improving my Tulpa's voice volume? Sometimes it is just so quiet?
Sometimes mine used to get a little quiet and there wasn't much I could do but wait a day or two before it went back to normal. What I found was good was spending more time talking to her during this time, especially as my tulpa seemed to get a little sad that I couldn't hear her. Remember, tulpa communication is a two way street, and they might think they're being loud enough.

>>6620714
Just try and get her to stick with shorter statements, or see if she's able to answer with mental pictures or feelings instead.

>>
>>6621306
>What are the practical benefits of servitors and shit like that compared to a tulpa?
A servitor is similar to a tulpa, just without an actual personality. If you think of a tulpa as an AI, a servitor is essentially a normal program. You can create one to automate shit, or improve memory recall, or even function as a calculator, or whatever else you might want your brain to do independently of your conscious mind, it just won't be able to think for itself beyond what you've set it up to do.

If you just want something to help improve various mental abilities and aren't interested in a sentient being to interact with, you're probably better off making a servitor. It's easier since you don't have to create an entire personality for them, and it will always do exactly what you tell it to do. And if you later decide that you want it to be a tulpa instead, you just have to start adding a personality to it to complete the process.

>I think I might look into one for utility but don't want a waifu or anything like that.
A servitor wouldn't even be remotely close to being a waifu, since it has no personality. As for the form, neither a tulpa nor a servitor need to look humanoid, or even like a living being. A servitor could even just look like a notebook that magically fulfills any command you write in it, or an intercom that you use to give orders to unseen workers that handle things behind the scenes. Or just, y'know, a computer like a lot of other people go with.

>Is it kind of like lucidity but you're awake?
I'm not entirely sure what specifically you're asking about, but a wonderland would fit that description. Essentially a created world that you can manipulate at will, quite similar to a lucid dream. A lot of people generally find them useful to have so they have an environment to imagine the tulpa in while creating them, or a place for the tulpa to live in after it's created, but it's not absolutely necessary.

But my tulpa and I enjoy a consensual, safe, and loving sexual relationship. Why should I give that up?

Actual serious question to those who think it's wrong to lewd the tups (not personally, just in general as a "wrong thing to do"): Why is it wrong? How could it affect either host or tups negatively? Is it possible to do it in a happy, safe, moral manner, or is having sex with your tup wrong in all conditions?

I think hosts should deny their tups sex most of the time. Shit's not gonna turn out so well if the tup learns to manipulate the host through sex... you're the one who has to contend with the external world, so you should never give up even a little control to the tulpa.

Besides, making it a rare occurrence makes it much more special, and the tup will enjoy it more. Imagine what it'd be like for your tulpa to look forward to sex all month, instead of it just being that thing you do together before going to sleep.
>>
>>6632757
>so you should never give up even a little control to the tulpa.
Do you trust your tulpa so little?
>>
>>6632757
>Shit's not gonna turn out so well if the tup learns to manipulate the host through sex
You are a weak person.
>>
>>6632816
I wouldn't trust a 10 year old with my car, so why would I trust a tulpa with calling the shots? Not to say they can't give input, but at the end of the day I'm the boss because I'm the one with experience. I don't think it's unfair because the tup gets to live a life virtually free of responsibility, in exchange.

>>6632840
Who's weaker, the guy who fucks his tulpa on command, or the guy who knows how to say no?
>>
>>6632856
That really doesn't take into account what the tulpa wants. And the weaker of the two would be the one who is so terrified and paranoid of losing any control in his life that he has to say no to possibly the most trustworthy person in his life. I mean, if you're so terrified of sharing that control with your tulpa despite them technically having the same experience as you because you both have the same brain (making your only point a moot one) then the weak one here is you.
>>
>>6632856
Are you implying that people actually fuck their tulpa whenever the tulpa asks for it? As well as thinking a tulpa could use that for manipulation?

You're not just conservative about sex, you're actually just dumb.
>>

>>

>>
>>6632939
One of mine is wearing a santa hat all the way to Christmas. For nearly every hour of the day.
>>
>>6632920
So is a tulpa a separate person or not? Your point only makes sense if they aren't.

>>6632924
People use sex to control others all the time. Why couldn't that happen between a host and a tulpa?
>>
>>6632972
Are you saying that they're spirits or something, because that's the only way they wouldn't operate using the same wetware as you. They essentially get a jump start because they are using the same brain you are to think, feel, etc, which is why it doesn't take 20 years for them to have the same vocabulary as you do and why possession works.
>>
>>6632366
It's not something you can prove, really. You have to kind of experience it yourself to understand it.
>>
>>6633007
Nah, not spirits, but it seems like most people here see them as separate beings who inhabit the same brain, rather than merely an imaginary friend or a separate aspect of the same person. If they're just part of the same person, then sure, no need for caution because it's all just pretend anyway. But if they're separate enough to be considered another person (and it seems like most people here seem them that way), then I think that means the host has a responsibility to be careful in "raising" their tulpa and shaping the relationship between them.
>>
>>6633060
That's exactly what I was saying. They're running on the same wetware. My argument is that because they're separate beings, you shouldn't consider them as your lesser. They are as capable as you at pretty much everything because of the fact you share the same wetware. Honestly the "Muh no sex" shit is just as bad as the "yeah i fuck my tulpa all the time lololol xd" crowd. Like, there's nothing wrong with it but if your tulpa is a nympho you have only yourself to blame because you made them. Unless another tulpa made them and in that case it's their fault not yours.
>>
>>6632856
If you think sex is the only way to "control" you, then you are mistaken.
Sex feels good. If your tulpa takes sex away from you, then you have an incentive to do as she says.
You know what else feels good?
Hugs, cuddles, kisses, conversations and just generally the feeling of friendship.
What if instead of trying to persuade you with sex, your tulpa just threatens to stop talking to you or even to start disliking you if you keep refusing to do that thing that is really important to her?
Having no sex would be the least of your problems then.
If you form a bond with your tulpa or any person at all, then you have to accept that you are giving away control to them and sometimes even become dependent on them.

>>6633087
I see it more like raising a kid, I suppose. (Albeit a kid who matures a lot more quickly, and with the potential for ethical sex, but it's the best analogy I can come up with.) So, it's not really a matter of seeing the tulpa as lesser, but instead seeing yourself as their... elder? Caretaker?

>"Muh no sex"
To be fair, I'm not saying "no sex", I'm saying "be careful and place limits on sex"

>>6633156
That's a fair point, and I think that anyone looking to create a tulpa should think long and hard about those possibilities. That being said, practicing sexual moderation limits the tulpa's ability to manipulate the host through one of their strongest instinctual urges, so from the perspective of risk management that seems like a net positive to me.

>>6633190
Why not? I think it's an interesting discussion.

>>6633257
This, to me, seems like an example of a well-raised tulpa.
>>
>>6633300
I feel like saying you have to take care of them is diminishing their individuality and ability to take care of themselves, because really that's the end goal IMO. I mean it's not hard to tell your tulpa to fuck off if you don't want to fuck. Again, if you wind up with a nympho tulpa that's all on you.
>>
>>6633316
That's a fair point, I suppose eventually you do have to let them fend for themselves, in a sense.
>>
So, what's your tulpa's opinion on your family members?
>>
>>6633300
My tulpa tried to manipulate me into doing something by denying me sex once.
Once she realized that she wants sex more than I do, she just started nagging and whining to me until I gave in.
There is no way to turn a tulpa's voice off if they really, really want to keep going. You can't walk away from them. If a tulpa wants to, they can torture you with that method.

It doesn't matter how often or in often, just as long as you both want it at that current time.
Not that I have had sex with my tulpa, I'm not quite there yet. But once I can I hope to fug my tulpa as much as I can as frequently as possible. Hopefully so we can get sick of it and stop thinking about it all the time.

>>6633156
I disagree with this, sort of.
I mean it is possible to occur, but if it does then something is wrong with your relationship.

How can you say you love your tulpa if you won't even eat her poop?
>>
>>6634493
Tulpas don't need to poop.

They could poop if they wanted to though. They can poop at will. They could never poop, and then one day decide to always poop. They could poop so much that your wonderland turns into the elemental plane of poop.

They can also choose what their poop is like. They could poop cotton candy. They could also poop diamonds. They could poop cotton candy that's actually as hard as diamonds. You would never penetrate their poop castle.
>>
>>6634660
Penetrate their poop castle sounds like a gross slang for anal sex.

Do you think your host os trying too hard to stay in control? Do you feel that they lack trust in you? Are you happy with your life?

Definetely. He should ease up and let me do my job. I wouldn't say he doesn't trust me, he's just paranoid (which with time I'll get out of his head).
I am happy, how can you not be when your mere smell makes your host happy? I feel like I'm doing my job well.

I think he's trying too hard to stay in control, but it's not from a lack of trust, just a lack of practice. Or, put another way, he is comfortable in his physical body, and finds it hard to give up control. I've been interested in fronting for us for a while, but switching or even just possession is hard for us, because, you know, he's been in the body for nearly 20 years now, he can't into giving up control that easily.

Overall, though I'm happy with my life. I'm helping with the new tup, having fun in the wonderland, enjoying sexual congress with each other… Yeah, overall it's a pretty good life. I just want to do more.

It's radically different from Host to Host, but those are some of the usual things.

Did any of you take up meditation while you were making your Tulpa? How did it turn out?
>>
>>6636780
I did. I almost never forced outside of my daily 2+ hours of deep meditation. I didn't hear anything until 5 months in, when all at once I had a burst of development that lasted a few months.

By 9 months my Tupper was fully realized, visual imposition included, and we still meditate whenever we have free time.
>>
>>6636865
Why exactly did you only force through meditation?
If you passively forced that 5 months could have probably been like 3 weeks.
>>
Daily reminder to brutally snuggle your tulpa.
>>
>>6636907
What's the difference between passive forcing and active forcing?
>>
>>6637003
Passive forcing means you're not going out of your way to sit down and think about only your tulpa. It means talking to and keeping your tulpa in mind throughout your day, even when doing other things. Active forcing is powerfully important but results will be best when you passively force constantly in addition to this.. No matter how you do it, just minor chit-chat with your tulpa as you sweep the floor or something.
>>
So tell me, /tup/. What single adjective would you use to describe your tulpa's personality? The "core" of their personality, if you will. One of mine says hers is strength. Physical and mental.

1st: Driven, although that's equally split with kind.
2nd: Chill. There is no chiller and more relaxed person on the planet.

My first has expressed interest in becoming a front for the body. Which is tumblrSystemSpeak, but I'm not really sure how else to put it; she wants to switch for long periods of time and enjoy life in a physical body. And she's primarily said that because she wants to do things, I think, even if she hasn't said so in so many words.

Second is turning into a stoner stereotype despite my initial efforts just being "chill" and "happy." Such is life.
>>
>>6636780

I did as well. Was under the strong impression that it was THE way to do development, and despite doing a good deal of passive work too, I still feel it is the strongest method. I found the exercise enjoyable in itself, as well, and I looked forward to meditating. It had a lot of positive effects on my psyche, in addition to letting my gal develop more.

Back then meditation WAS regular forcing , there wasn't a separation of the two, so when I forced, I did so by meditating; which consisted of clearing my mind, then focusing on building up the tup.

I started really meditating when I began work on my tup, with the idea that making a tup was a subset of meditation.
