/tup/ - Tulpa General

Seems the last thread died prematurely. Let's have another one, shall we?

>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

One of my tups kept appearing when I was exercising. I realized I was idly imagining her, as she was more of a character prior to waking up, so I tried to "cut the strings" as it were, and dismiss her so I could concentrate.

She said in return: "It doesn't take as much brain power to imagine me, so just do that and keep running!'

She wasn't wrong. Still have a harder time, and need more focus, to talk to tups over just imagining figures doing things. Guess I need to have more mental gains first.

Do you let your tulpa help you choose what you buy when you go shopping? Mine helps me with getting snacks for game nights, she has a bias towards chocolate though.

It took me about a month I'd say. I believe I was getting mindvoice responses beforehand, but since I was steeped in doubt, I did not acknowledge them.

The first acknowledge response was a loud, outwardly verbal "I'm right here!". It was a HUGE shock. It sounded like a garbled, mechanical version of my own voice, something I haven't heard for years now, but still sticks to my mind today. It was weird man....
>>
>>6186672
I've never done that, but she really likes seafood. She gets excited in the cutest way whenever I tell her we're going to eat some.

>>6188280
One-and-a-half months for non-verbal responses, about three-and-a-half months for simple verbal responses. That slowly transitioned into normal talking, which we do here at 11 months.

Does putting forcing off for awhile reset progress? I stopped for like 3 weeks, if i started back up now would it be just like picking up where i left off?
>>
>>6190745
>3 weeks
You're not gonna make it brah.
That really depends on how much passive forcing you did in that time. If a lot, then they're fine. If not, chances are they regressed or even died.
To kill a tulpa you need to ignore it for about 1 week, or so I heard, never tried it thank God. That's why it's vital to regulary force.
Mind to tell us why would you stop for 3 weeks?

So I've been lurking here for a few days after hearing about the tulpa general, and I must say I'm quite pleased. This seems like a very comfy thread.

So I've been making a tulpa for a couple months now, and I'm at the point where I'm used to her feeling her "presence" by me wherever I go. Is it normal for her to communicate mostly through physical means (brushing my hair, hugging, etc) instead of using her voice? I have a mind-voice for her, but she doesn't really strike up any conversations or give an opinion on something unless I focus really hard on having a conversation with her, which almost makes it feel somewhat illegitimate. How did you guys start unconsciously conversing with your tulpas?
Pic related, it's her.
>>
>>6193112
She did some physical stuff too so I don't see anything wrong with what yours is doing, just gotta make sure she starts to talk eventually.

Making them go away? I think at some point, I won't have enough time to focus on it as much
>>
>>6196093
You don't need to put that much time in indefinitely anon. Some days I only hang with my tup for like 5 minutes, once you reach sentience with a tulpa making them "go away" is as hard as unlearning a skill
>>
>>6196093
also have you considered the fact that any tulpa you make will be unhappy about the fact that you essentially plan to break contact and let them fade into nonexistence?
>>
>>6196177
I see, that doesn't sound bad. Is it a valid enough reason to create a tulpa if all you really want is something to hug at night?

>>6196309
I don't want to do them dirty in the first place, I'm just asking in case it becomes overly draining to communicate with the tulpa, in a negative sense.
>>
>>6196371
>Is it a valid enough reason to create a tulpa if all you really want is something to hug at night?

This never happens if you keep casual communication and don't have a debate about the meaning of life everyday.
>>
>>6196423
>>6196456
>>6196505

I guess I'm just overthinking it then. In terms of development, would consistent passive forcing and active forcing through lucid dreams be good in making them be able to communicate? Also would drawing your tulpa be cool so you can be understand its form?
>>
>>6196580
No XP with lucid dreaming here but basically just talk to your tulpa until they talk back. I've heard drawing is good too. Are you an artist anon?
>>
>>6196580
pretty much what ever method you want to use should work fine as long as you force at least somewhat regularly.
and forcing less often can only make the process just take a bit longer so don't fefel you have to force 3 times a day or you'll mess up your tulp or something.
just dont forget to do it completely

A bit late to reply to this, but that's totally normal, anon. Tulpas communicate in different ways. For example, some use head pressures, some use vocality, some use body language, like yours. Still others use possession, those lucky bastards, because they master it early.

Having to focus really hard at the 'couple months' stage is also totally normal. Don't worry anon, as long as you love your tup and spend time with them every day, you're doing great.

If it were like a Gondola I'd assume it'd be naive and loving, it'd experience life with you, doing whacky things like in all the videos of Gondola.

Then again that sounds like most tups but still it'd be interesting to see.

>>
Non-/trash/ lurker here, this thread is comfy as fuck and the concept of a tulpa intrigues me.
A tulpa basically seems to be a sentient personality you create in your mind apart from your own.
I want to try this but it seems like induced but controlled schizofrenia which is a scary thing.
Also if a tulpa is sentient creating a sentient being is something i dont take lightly especially since i have full responsibility for it.
It it a risk for one's mental health?
Is there no going back once i start?
Will it help me understand myself and the inner mind the human mind better?
These are the questions keeping me busy as im contemplating whether or not further investigate this and try it for myself
>>
>>6214304
>It it a risk for one's mental health?
not really to my knowledge

>Is there no going back once i start?
I mean there are ways to go back kind of but not really
Its hard to completely dissipate a tulpa from what I've gathered. But in the end you pretty much have power over them so I'm sure you could get rid of one if you really wanted to

>Will it help me understand myself and the inner mind the human mind better?
It can I suppose

personally I've haven't had a single bad experience with my tulpa so far. She seems very understanding and willing to cooperate.
I mean its not impossible to have a tulpa that doesn't like you but I would say more likely than not they won't hate you
>>
>>6214304
>controlled schizophrenia
more like did but I doubt that helps any
>is it a risk
if you're already crazy then yes, otherwise no. we're talking schizo crazy here or maybe some other form of paranoia or something.
>no way to go back
i mean in theory you can ignore them to death but when they reach a certain point they can pretty much sustain themselves without your intervention. also why even bother making one if you aren't going to keep them around? seems like a waste of time to me but w/e it's your prerogative.
>will it help me [...]?
it can if you want to but it's not the same as what Buddhist monks were doing god knows how long ago when they actually made reflections of themselves for self-discovery and all that. I mean you can but that's generally not what happens here.

>>
>>6214572
>why even bother making one if you aren't going to keep them around
I think the concern is more about if the experience ends up having a negative effect on his life. It's not likely to happen unless he already has serious mental issues, but it's good to know whether or not someone can back out if things do go wrong.

>>6214304
>It it a risk for one's mental health?
It's not going to irreversibly screw up your mind or anything. As long as you don't have any serious mental illnesses, you'll be fine.

If you DO have serious mental illnesses, well, trying to make a separate consciousness when you have a poor grasp on reality isn't exactly a great idea.

>Is there no going back once i start?
Making a tulpa is basically like developing a habit. The more ingrained the habit is, the harder it'll be to unlearn, but it can always be unlearned even if it's extremely difficult to do so. Regardless, it takes quite a while to actually make a fully developed tulpa, so if things do seem like they're going badly, you'll have more than enough time before then to notice it and either stop or adjust things.

>Will it help me understand myself and the inner mind the human mind better?
Probably. You'll essentially have someone who understands how you think, but who can offer an outside perspective on things. You'll likely discover some things about yourself that you've always overlooked.

>These are the questions keeping me busy as im contemplating whether or not further investigate this and try it for myself
Take your time and do all of the research you need. I took almost a year before I finally decided to make mine. Make sure you check out multiple guides to get different people's perspectives on the process. Every person's mind functions differently, so there really is no guide that will 100% work for everyone, and not every possible method has been documented so don't be afraid to do something different if it seems to be working.

They do have that vibe, but they're mild mannered and generally willing to talk stuff out. The admin seems to have a head on her shoulders, while still being highly accepting about various things. Despite the tumblr flavoring, the place could potentially be rather cozy if people posted more than once a month.

Don't dig reddit myself, though. It just doesn't click with me at all, despite having some of the same folk .io has.

In this case, as far as I'm aware, no tulpas died. Well, maybe a few on the side, but they're not terribly relevant. The two I'm talking about just kind of went away for a while.

So I've been lurking these threads for quite a bit and this tulpa phenomena sounds really interesting and feel it might actually benefit me quite a bit. Is it possible for me to, say, draw the desired form of the tulpa and try to force that to begin development? I feel like a definitive image will help alot more overall if I just think on one drawing or image.
>>
>>6258085
ofc, alot of the personality from mine was drawn from the form

If you can draw, definitely go for it. If you can't, still go for it, anything associated with the tulpa will inevitably make the tulpa stronger.

Good advice!

I doodle in lectures, they're shit but a few more years and they'll be a lot of shit.

All that's really needed to make a tulpa is:

>Treat a fixed set of expectations as a separate, unique, whole entity.

That's it.

Depending on time invested and method used various phenomena will appear fleetingly and strengthen until stabilised.

Drawing and pictures are a very good start. It will help in visualisation and potentially give you a headstart on visual imposition.
Remember to add personality to your drawings. Small details that really bring a character to life.

You gotta have some level of dedication to really get results. Really, I'd say that on some level, you have to stop caring about the results to really get the best results. It sounds weird I know, but making a tup is just as much about the journey there as it is the destination.

>>6260571
that was the kind of mindset I had going in, but it was before I went back to college and that's what trigerred me stopping

I'm a neet again now, so I can try again properly

Does anyone communicate with their tulpas in a foreign language? English is not my first language but for some reason we've talked in English with my tulpa as long as I can remember.
>>
>>6263193
I tend to talk with my tulpa mostly in English. Her voice just sounds nicer that way. Sometimes we talk in German (native language) too though.
>>
Does your pony tupper have actual mare privates or more human-like bits?
Do they ever make realistic horse noises?
Are their hooves flat or detailed?
Do they have fur on their noses?
How show-like are they?
>>
>>6264966
I don't have a pony tupper because ponies are SHIT
>>
I was expecting to have difficulties creating/visualizing a wonderland, but it was easy af. My tulpa even sent me a thought while i was talking to her and apologized for interrupting me, that was cute.

Does your tup hold you to any sort of standard, anons? Do they try to cheer you to improve your behavior, or do they feel you're fine just as you are?
>>
>>6264966
My tupper has actual mare bits, or as close as a tiny fictional colored equine can get.
The only time shes ever made slightly horse-ish noises was as a joke.
Her hooves are a little detailed but not terribly so. And I think fur on pone tulp noses are a given.
She's not show like at all except for her form being a 3d interpretation of the pones.

That's not her being harsh with you, Anon. That's your own self, punishing yourself because you feel like you're failing your buddy. She's sweet and forgiving to you for a reason, anon, many tups tend to be that way with their host.
>>
>>6268525
>You'll need some quicklime
I read that as "quicktime" and started wondering why my tulpa was a poorly designed GeoCities page.
>>
>requires 2 hours of meditation everyday for months to even show minor results
>either that or near constant passive thought if you aren't meditating

Is this one of those things that is only possible if you're a NEET?
>>
>>6271759
Nah, and also there is no real correct or set way to do it. All you need to do is believe in your tulpa and acknowledge it, though paying alot of attention to them is nice. the process is different for everybody
>>
>>6271759
Where did you get those requirements from?
It's different for everyone.

It's very easy to passive force while doing any kind of work that's not intensely thought-heavy (like troubleshooting something). I worked in a factory, and my tulpa was with me all day long. We even switched at work once.

There are 16 multi-thousand dollar Inficon-branded vacuum gauges on the market, which were assembled by a tulpa.
>>
>>6271831
>>6271908
I ask because I have tried active forcing and I fall asleep most of the time, and I have attention issues, so passive forcing is a bust for me.
>>
>>6271950
Well then get more sleep or drink coffee before active forcing. Preferably the first one.
>>
>>6271992
I get plenty of sleep though.
>>
>>6267483
Do you have a reference pic to that 3d interpretation?

if you fight your tulpa really hard, would that make it a War Within?
>>
>>6271759
I've been employed and had an active social life this entire time I've had a tulpa. Making one only took like 1/2 hour of forcing a day now we just chill

>>6273935
>tfw you punch your tulpa in the face and he thinks you're really beefin so he tries to talk it out and you're just like bro i was just fucking around i didn't sign up for this but it's too late he's ready for a serious heart to heart and you end up in a deep conversation about why you don't want to watch a bunch of videos about car restoration so car fix em up wonderland time is cooler
