It is a late night and Utah Apple is about to go on a night of patrol in Ponyville. He’s there to visit for a few days with family. He thinks the missus wouldn’t mind if he didn’t ask for help tonight. It’s where he grew up and it barely changed at all. Only real change is a pizza place Pogo opened. It’s not like anything happened unless his mom and her friends was involved in something. He puts on his costume on with his utility belt and heads out, looking out for trouble.

As Utah rides on his bike and looks around, he hears something that he felt the need to respond. “We have a 207, a kidnapping has happened. The victim, five years old, has been missing for three hours.” He hears the address and heads straight to it. ‘Why in Equestria would someone kidnap a foal in ponyville?’ It doesn’t matter, he’s glad he brought the costume with him.

Once he reaches the house, the address hits him and he realizes who lives here. It’s Derpy’s family. Utah remembers her and how nice that one daughter of her. He thinks her name is Misty, but he’s not sure. The first thing he does is look around the front yard to find any evidence that maybe the guards missed. As he looks through, he finds something odd, a feather. It’s not gray like any of theirs either. The feather’s color seems to be an aquamarine. He tries to think of anyone who had that color, but it he doesn’t have any recollection. He puts in a plastic bag for evidence and into one of his utility belt’s pouches. Now for the hard part. Utah walks to the door and tries to listen, getting prepared to see what the family is like now. There are at least three different people bawling their eyes out. He gets himself ready to try to calm them down and knocks on the door.

Usually he would make his voice harsh and commanding, but this is an exception as it is to any manner like this. She lets Utah in and calls everyone in the family. Every single member of her family came down, all of them clearly surprised by a vigilante they’ve only heard of. They tell Utah everything that can be useful to finding Buoy. That her dad isn’t here because he doesn’t like being away from water, that she has a stuffed animal squid, and a picture of her.

“I have questions I need your help with,” as he tells them that, he grabs the feather he found. “Do any of you recognize who this would belong to? There is a chance this belongs to the person to who took her.” They all said a definite no. He gets up, preparing to look to who this feather belongs. He can tell this is probably going to be a long night.

“Will you find her Rider?” Dingaling asks him, looking him straight in the eyes.
“I’ll find her and make to take care of whoever took her.”

Right after he tells the family this, there’s another knock on the door. Utah questions them if they were expecting anyone. They all told him no. He opens the door and sees something strange. A griffon, unicorn, and Pegasus together, all three wearing masks. He notices that the masks are a starfish, squid, and clownfish, all sea themed. Utah takes a step back, wondering what in all tartarus this is. It only gets stranger. The three start to singing and dancing as if they’re puppets.

‘Not quite the lyricist’ Utah thinks to himself. The griffon then hands Utah a letter. He of course grabs it and starts to open it. As he does, he sees that the three have some sort of magic surrounds their heads, making them unconscious. The entire Derpy family is just baffled from this entire affair. Utah removes the unicorn’s mask and looks inside. Them seems to be some sort of blue crystal in there wired. It looks to be a sort of transmitter that controls them. He is very sure that he doesn’t know anyone like this. He then opens the letter and it’s a map. It shows Ponyville and points to an old aquarium. Utah remember going there with his family as a colt, but they shut down years ago.

He then speaks to the Derpy family, “Looks like I have a new lead. Don’t worry, I’ll find her.” As he puts the evidence in his utility belt, he heads to his bike. He then gets on his bike and heads straight to the aquarium. Utah is a bit concerned when thinking about it. At least for most of the rogues he deals with, they are either payed or in it for money and they would leave at least a bribery letter. This one seems to have no interest in any sort of mony, so there is a chance he may be a bit more volatile.

Utah reaches the aquarium and sees how run down it is. There aren’t any guards but thinks that there me a trap rigged if he opens the front door. He grabs his grappling gun and shoots to the roof. He lands on the roof and sees there’s a door that leads him down. Utah opens the door and heads downstairs. There is a total of three floors in this aquarium. He looks down the rails and see all the fish tanks are full of water, but there aren’t any fish. What he does find is the satyr he’s looking for and the “prince”. He has a thin figure with blond hair and the same colored wings from the feather he found and is wearing a white shirt and blue pants with a red sash, but he doesn’t see Buoy. He also notices that the satyr is also wearing some sort of shell around his necklace. Who is with this satyr are seven people with the same kind of masks on them. They are moving like marionette just like the three at Derpy’s house. ‘He must be mind-controlling all of them,’ Utah thinks. Before he jumps down and starts to attack, he decides to hear what he’s saying first. He could figure out where Buoy is.
“Careful everyone! I don’t want there to be any accidents. Everything needs to be perfect for her!” the “prince” tells them
“Of course” one of the masked people says.
“Of course, sir. You have to call me sir all the time. Do you understand that?”
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, I understand.”
“Yes I understand, sir.”
“Yes”
The Pegasus satyr clearly is becoming frustrated, “Great Celestia, this is infuriating. I’m going to have to look at what I did for your wiring sometime.” He then sighs, “The good news is that these masks work and everyone listens! I thought it was only going to work on ponies! Sure, you could listen better, but it’s a start.”

Utah jumps down and lands on a minotaur, knocking him out immediately. This startles the Pegasus satyr and he steps away, letting his brainwashed horde take care of the masked satyr. A gryphon tries to claw him but he grabs both of their paws and headbutts them knocking them out. He grabs the gryphon by their body and throws them at a Pegasus, taking the stallion out as well. A unicorn behind him uses their magic to grab a crate, getting ready to throw it at Utah. Before they have the chance, he grabs a horseshoe from his utility belt and throws it at the mare, hitting her right in the horn. This causes her to lose focus and having the crate drop on a diamond dog’s head. The last two were a yak and a bull. They both charge at him from opposite directions. He realizes this, and decides to wait for them, grabbing something from his utility belt. As they are only at most ten feet away from him, he throws a ball that turns into a cloud of smoke once it hits the ground. He dodges out of the way from the two giants, making them ram into each other into unconsciousness.

The only two left standing were the “prince” and Utah. The other satyr stands there perfectly calm, not even attempting to fly with a grin on his face. “How wonderful it is that you came. I was expecting her mother but you’ll be just fine. The name’s Gale Wind.” Utah grabs him by the throat and slams him into one of the fish tanks, making it crack. “Where’s the girl, Gale! What did you do!” he demands to know in the harsh voice he is used to.

“What do you mean?” Gale says between shortened breaths.

“Buoy!” he yells at him

Gale starts to smile even when he has a hand holding him up by his throat. “It’s good to see you why you’re here Rider.”

Utah raises an eyebrow under his masks, “What are you talking about?”

“We don’t see eye to eye yet. Let me help you with that. Look at the conch.” He tells Utah. He looks at his necklace that is a conch. Suddenly, he starts to feel odd. His legs feel like noodles and he’s about to throw up. He tries to keep his balance, having to let Gale down and leaning on the tank.

“What did you do?” Utah asks him as his vision starts to blur and then a bright white light flashes into his eyes. He must close his eyes, but when he opens them, everything around him changes. Where he is now is definitely not the aquarium anymore. He gets back on his hooves and looks around. It appears that he’s underwater and near a kingdom, with Gale gone. He tries to hold his breathe, but he realizes he can still breathe just fine. He heads to the kingdom and opens the gate.

“Welcome to my kingdom, Midnight Rider. It’s where I first met Aerial. Ah- we had the time of our life here,” he hears Gale’s voice from nowhere, but echoing everywhere.

He sees there’s a bridge with massive holes in it. Utah takes a few steps on the bridge and sees that even though there are gaps in it, it’s still stable. He runs to the end of the bridge and looks at the drawbridge, noticing a hook.

Gale continues his monologue, “Then she went away. Poor, poor Aerial. Lost and away. I NEEDED to finder her and bring her back home. And I finally did! She’s safe again. With me!” Utah takes the lasso out of his utility belt and have it circle over his head and throws it to the hook, latching onto it. He then uses every ounce of strength to bring the drawbridge down. It slams down, letting Utah walk further.
“Still, Ursala and her magics are everywhere. Trying to take her away. That’s why I’m glad you’re here Rider. No one else is better to protect Aerial than a vigilante such as yourself.”

A massive hole suddenly forms under Utah’s hooves, making him fall. As he falls into nothingness, he sees a door at least a hundred feet under him. He takes his grappling hook and hits the door with the hook. Once he reaches the door, gravity seems to fix itself and makes him fall on his face. He gets up immediately and rubs his head. Looking around, he sees that he’s now in a hallway with a mirror halfway, overgrown seaweed and vines covering the walls. Utah looks into the mirror and sees that there are more mind-controlled people coming behind him. When he looks behind, there’s no one, but the masked people are still running towards him. Then it hits him, they’re going to come through the mirror.

“Get away from me! Mommy!” a girl screams. It must be her. “Now, now. Just because you’re not happy means you can lose your manners, Aerial.” This only made Utah more focused in finding her.

The three-masked people, a diamond dog, earth stallion, and minotaur come through the mirror and Utah prepares himself. He does notice that when they went through the mirror, their reflections disappeared. The stallion rushes to him, sprinting. Utah uses his momentum against him and jumps over him, making the earth pony slam his head into the wall. The diamond dog shows his knife and lunges at Utah. He dodges the attempted stab, grabbing dog’s arm, and squeezes his wrist to make him drop the knife. He then elbows the dog right in his snout, knocking him out.

The only one left is a minotaur, fists raised in the air and taunting him. Instead of letting him get the first swing, he grabs something from his utility belt, a horseshow. He throws it against the wall to his right and it bounces off, hitting the minotaur in the side of the head. It didn’t take him down like he wanted, but it did make him light on his feet. Utah rushes the minotaur and beats him. Swing after swing and pound after pound he punches him. He made sure plenty of his swings went for his gut and his head. When it seemed like it he was out for the count, Utah grabs him by his head and pushes his head into the mirror, shattering it.

Behind the mirror wasn’t something Utah wasn’t expecting, a door. He opens the door and goes through it. He looks around and it is another hallway, except this one has glass stained paintings everywhere. Ones of Gale and ones of Buoy. As he starts to walk he hears something behind him. When he looks back, he sees a hammerhead swimming towards him, jaws unhinged and ready to bite. This makes him go into a sprint until he gets to the end of the hallway that has a chair next to the window. Once he reaches the end, Utah realizes that there is no other way than breaking the stained glass. He grabs the chair and throws it through the window, jumping out.

When he jumps, he sees theirs a tightrope and he grabs on to it on time. He then remembers the shark behind him. He looks back, only to see it disintegrate into bubbles. It was only a small bit of relief until he looks down. There was only blue nothingness. He climbs on top of the tightrope and tries to keep his balance. He looks to where the rope connects and sees that it’s a bridge made of coral. He hears Gale’s voice again.

“You must be wondering why I brought you here. You see, I made a wonderful device. A device that compels discipline. With minds that are weak, it works without a problem. I just stick the mask on them and it works like a snap. Stronger-willed ones require a bit of, how should I say, breaking in.”

Utah looks at the bridge and sees a little girl with a flipper swimming away from Gale. They then disappear into bubbles. He rushes as fast as he could to the end of the wire and lands on the bridge. As he gets up, he sees another door at the end of this bridge that leads to some sort of tower. He runs to it.
“What do you see Rider? Tell me, Tell me, Tell me, tell me! How scary is it? I hope it’s very scary. Maybe it’ll make you tear yourself apart.”

He opens the door to the tower, seeing it’s some sort of clock tower. He climbs up the stairs and sees something strange attached to the wall. It’s some sort of cabinet with gears in it.

“No, no, no. This isn’t right. It’s wrong.” He hears Gale says

This prompts Utah to punch into the cabinet. Whatever it is, sounds like he doesn’t like that he’s breaking it. He then continues to climb the stairs.

“Stop it! Stop doing that this instance! You can’t win down here! I’m in control! You have to play with MY rules! Both you and Aerial. Do what I command right now!” Gale yells

This causes Utah to smile. As he reaches to the top of the Clock tower, he sees that there is some sort of red watchtower in front of him. He opens the door to it and climbs more stairs. He has to be getting closer.

“You ruined everything, Rider! My party is destroyed! The guests have all left! I demand you to leave!” Gale yells

Utah climbs the last bit of stairs and opens a hatch leading to the top. He looks and sees what appears to be a normal room. In this room is Gale holding a knife to Buoy.

“He can Aerial, all he has to do is leave! Isn’t that right?”

Utah thinks what he can do. If he uses one of his guns, he may risk the chance hitting Buoy. He could rush him, but the knife is right on her, so he can’t risk that either. The lasso and grappling gun may be too slow for him not to expect it. He thinks of his last option. He grabs a horseshoe from his belt. Gale notices it.

“What, you think a horseshoe will handle this?” he says, laughing.

As he laughs at the idea, he closes his eyes. It’s long enough for Utah to throw the horseshoe. Instead of hitting him directly, he hits the wall behind him, ricocheting the horseshoe and hitting the back of Gale’s head. This makes him let go of Buoy and take a step forward, only to receive an uppercut from Utah, knocking him out immediately. Utah then takes Gale’s conch from his necklace and smashes it into many shards. Utah then tied him up with a lasso. Once that was taken care of, he sees Buoy crying. He grabs her with his left arm.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe now. Just hold on.” Utah tells her.

He grabs the unconscious Gale and he heads out of the building. Once the three exited the building, puts Gale up against a wall and heads to his motorcycle. He grabs the flare gun he has trusted all these years and shoots it up. Normally he would use a smoke bomb and leave, but this time, he decided to stay and comfort Buoy. He also wanted to make sure is taken care of.

It was only maybe minutes until the guards showed up. He told them everything they saw. What the masks were, the illusions, and the brainwashing. It wasn’t long until he saw her family show up to. Dingaling flew as fast as she could to grab her little girl. Utah hands Buoy to her. Tears in her eyes. Dingaling holds her daughter.

“Thank you so much vigilante. How could I ever thank you?” Dingaling asks, her family swarming her and Buoy

This was more of "If I had to make this character a villain with what /d/ wants, this is how I would do it." I don't agree with /d/ 100% with choices. I think it could be done a bit more creative. [spoilernospoiler] I know it sounds like I keep blasting /d/ with criticism I had from /sat/, but it's more as me trying to help another content creator.[/spoilernospoiler] Looking at the setting, I try to make it very comic book-esque. Hell, I have plenty of ideas for villain satyrs, I just haven't wrote it.

I guess me using Utah helped too. I usually think of four characters with him, Batman, Daredevil, Spider-man, the Question and the Shadow. All fairly heroic characters that are smart and strong willed. They also have great villains.

As he struggles to get free from the minotaur’s clutches, the offender sprays his hot breath over Simmer’s face and lets out a hacking laugh.

>“S-such…such a…a smooth body.” Grabbing and squeezing he greedily feels him up. Simmer starts to panic and starts shouting for help.

Noxious breath spilled into Simmer's nostrils, his only source of air, gagging him almost as bad as the taste of dirt and filth on his fingers.

>Simmer tries to swerve his head, but is always forced back with a taut tug from the inside of his cheek. Frightened, his body freeezes as the minotaur gives an appreciative taste up his cheek.

I know I have ideas, but I'd rather write about him with one or the other and that they're different versions of the boy. Even his costume changes. This would includes colors, details in it, and maybe even his gadgets.

I get that too. For Simmer and Broil I usually switch between job headcanons depending on the ship. With Blare it's easier to put Simmer in the mining headcanon to add a bit more vulnerability to his character. But if he's with someone else, then I'm find with him being in the hunting profession like his mom and sister.

However he doesn't give up hope that he'll land a big sell and kickstart his own company. He wandered to Cinder's door at the base of her father's mountain and he tried to sell him his stuff. In the end he sold her his heart and has been trying to get Cinder to haggle her's to him ever since. He eventually gets through to her and now they're going steady.
