Reposting!
Hello darlings! And welcome to Thematic Thursday!
Halloween edition!
Halloween's a day where we cast of normal conventions and celebrate the macabre, indulging in horrific things that normally would terrify us, like vampires, zombies, mummies, and Finding Dory's Oscar chances!
There's a wide range of stories that can take place, from something as sweet as Judy and her sisters trick-or-treating around their neighborhood, to something as sinister as Judy and her sisters trick-or-treating around their neighborhood with Scoutmaster Nick!
And there's no telling how many ghoulish pictures can be made! Characters could dress up in tons of different costumes, OCs could be chased by all manners of horrors, and let's just be honest, there's going to be a billion Vampire Judy pics. A metric billion of them.
I'm your host, ElVRa, and I'm just undying to read your fics!
Remember: if you would like your fic read, just link it on over to me!

Ship’s log, 1400 hours, October 5th 1960
It has come to my attention that something is not right.
The sea is rougher than usual so near to land, and I’ve not caught sight of the Eastland hills through the mists, though we should be nearly upon them. I’ve tried to keep the ship in a holding pattern until this weather clears, but there’s always work to be done below deck and I can’t be giving out orders all the time. I need my men to operate.
This vessel is carrying five tons of cargo meant for Zootopian trade. Stagsdale & Metcalf hasn’t been doing well lately – that’s what we get for remaining a small, independent company in this day and age. I simply hope our cargo doesn’t spoil before we reach land, as these churning seas are giving us a more difficult journey than usual.

Ship’s log, 900 hours, October 7th 1960
It’s been two days, but the seas are finally beginning to clear. My men tell me the smell some peculiar scent, especially for this season, on the waves, but none can place it. I wonder if they are drinking more than usual, and have restricted access to alcohol for the remainder of our voyage. After all, these men are working on this ship, not sailing for the fun of it.
Mr. Hopper briefly met me in my cabin last night, more nervous than I’ve ever seen him. He was clutching his cap and his long ears were drooping down as if weighted with lead. I rose to greet him and he took a step back, then explained he hadn’t been sleeping. Apparently, he had been hearing things in his bed at night. I smiled and asked him which of the twelve other mammals on board was keeping him up, and he laughed briefly.
“Not a mammal, I think. Perhaps a leak, perhaps a need for repairs in the starboard hull?”
I nodded at him and told him I would have the ship examined once we reached the docks at Lion’s Tail. In fact, I told him I’d give the crew and extra day’s shore leave in Savannah Central when we make port.
This seemed to placate him, and he left my quarters droning on about the fresh food and the smiling faces.
I suppose I must admit we had all been lacking in both lately.
Ship’s log, 100 hours, October 8th 1960
I hear it. At first I thought it to be a bumping or scraping of a loose piece of machinery or hatch, and then it made another sort of sound. There was no rhythm to it that followed the rhythm of the sea, so I knew it not to be a fixture or personal effect that hadn’t been battened down.
I will listen for a minute longer, then I must sleep.

Ship’s log, 1200 hours, October 8th 1960
The crew were hiding something from me. They turned away when I approach, and their voices fell to whispers.
I soon found out that Mr. Hopper went overboard early in the morning. Did I sleep through a patch of rough water? I called for him for hours, as did the other men when instructed, but I heard nothing back but my own voice. The sky is dark for this hour, and the waves gently lick, black as a crow’s eye, against the hull. I fear a storm, so I set the crew to prepare while I kept trying to find a sign of Mr. Hopper.
While I peered into the ocean, I heard the sound again, louder, and whipped around to see nothing, the deck abandoned and the men gone below to prepare for the storm.
I pray we make port in Zootopia tomorrow. The seas have been ever more tranquil since this morning.
Ship’s log, 1800 hours, October 8th 1960
This is peculiar. I am an elk, sturdy of build and rarely do I fall ill. But there is something off about my horns tonight. Shedding season is not for another two or three months, yet like a loose tooth my horns wobble and a dull pain grows in my head. I fear lying down this evening that they might be torn off – an injury would be an unpleasant way to begin shore leave.
Ship’s log, 200 hours, October 9th 1960
I hear it again. Louder now. When I close my eyes tightly and focus solely on the sound, I could swear I hear a voice. I wagered it could be another crewman talking but I do not recognize the timbre, and it seems to come from below rather than to the sides. The only area below my quarters is for cargo. I shall check the cargo tomorrow morning.
A stowaway, perhaps?

Ship’s log, 900 hours, October 9th 1960
This is not a fishing vessel. Why then do I smell such acridity on the air? The sea has been still all morning and uncommonly dark, and the mist gives us enough visibility that we have begun sailing toward Zootopian harbors again.
This morning I will inspect the cargo. The men are sure it’s nothing, the imagination of a bored mind, but I am sure of what I heard. They turn from me with their languid motions and I wonder if they’ve found their way into the drink again, though I locked the cabinet.
Why else would they appear so gaunt, so ill at ease, yet so red in their ears and skin, blushing with racing blood, other than drink?
Ship’s log, 1200 hours, October 9th 1960
It’s time to eat. But I cannot, I have lost my appetite for the day.
Disaster has struck.
I went into the cargo hold this morning to check for the origin of the sound. I heard nothing at first, but then I saw the state of the cargo and became distracted.
It was first that the smell hit me, unlike any other. When I was younger I worked in a diner by the sea and I would often be tasked with menial jobs. This scent was like that of the diner’s store of fish gone bad after a refrigerating unit broke one evening.
My head ached all throughout my time in the hold, and as I examined the crates I noticed them bulging and leaking. Was this not, then, the source of the sound? The smell of the cargo nearly overtook me. There was a film about the room, the quality of slime, and the jellied ichor leaking from the crates seemed indicative of some rottenness about the food.
This means the entire voyage has been a financial waste. I worry to say it could mean the end of the company. Perhaps I shouldn’t return home after all.
>>6033707

Ship’s log, 1500 hours, October 9th 1960
The men complain of illness. They grow tired of these days at sea – already we are a week behind schedule. I have not yet told them of the spoilage, so as to keep morale high. I have not been well today either. My head throbs and I hear the sounds from the cargo hold even on deck. The sky is not right, and the sea reflecting it is the same. We may have lost our bearings, and the old ways of navigation are useless without stars in the sky. I think we must be beneath a cloud bank, of some dark, smoky cloud that bears us ill will.
I have not eaten all day. Perhaps when dinner comes I will invest in my health and eat something despite the sickness that we seem to have contracted.
Ship’s log, 2100 hours, October 14th 1960
I have diligently kept these logs, but I fear I can do so no longer.
My crewmen have all fallen deep into sickness. They lie in their beds and stare at the ceiling, flush with vital color but in torpor as if feverish. Three more men fell overboard. Still there is no sight of the lights of Zootopia’s harbors.
The throbbing in my skull has grown worse, and I fear my horns will rip with a good deal of my scalp if I do not see them treated. Perhaps when the crew is well I can ask for their help.
I need my men to operate.
>>6033885
(Final,1 of 2)
Ship’s log, 0000 hours, October 19th 1960
One last entry. There is something I must do.
As my crewmen melted into their beds over the last few days, I decided to investigate the cargo. Perhaps some hint of salvage could placate my fears of loss. If the rot is carved free, there may be some salvageable product yet still.
When I descended into the hold, I heard the sound; the whispers, the sighs. I thought nothing of it, only slowly remembered that the origin of our cargo was illegal, and the cargo itself suited for the black market. It was a good memory, and good news. Such merchants cannot complain about the state of product on arrival, for they must sell it to eager mammals.
I examined the crates and thought of all the work that must have gone into packing them. In each crate, a dozen mammals or more. Predator, prey; it did not matter in their state.
But the rot changes things.
I knew my eyes bulged with curious intent as I neared the crate deepest in the hold. The lights had ceased to work days ago, and I had only the beam of my flashlight to guide me. The sounds of the sea faded as I neared it, and only the sounds filled my ears. I could almost make out what they were saying. The crate seemed to throb in rhythm, and I know this to be a sign of most advanced spoilage.
I pried open the side of the crate and was met with a great spillage of fluids which poured onto my legs and fur. The smell was stronger than ever, and I grew dizzy the closer I stood. Dark red aspic shuddered around on the inside of the panel I opened.
There inside the crate, something miraculous had happened.
New TT blind read through!
It seemed like such a simple night-- a story we've all heard before. Nick and Judy, coming back from a Halloween party, stopping to revisit a place they once knew. When they discover an ancient passage long overlooked, curiosity gets the better of them! Will they find out what lurks within those incomprehensible caves? Will Judy be able to escape its depths and return to the surface? Am I "reading too deep" into this story? Find out in The Creeping Tunnel, by writeyote!

(Final, 2 of 2)
Where the ship’s manifest would plainly record twelve bodies, some two thousand pounds of variegated meat, sat one great mass. The object itself confirmed what I supposed it might be through its throbbing and beating. I felt my horns slough from my head as I beheld the great glistening mass of flesh.
It was a heart. A vast heart, larger than a whale’s, six feet on all sides and live, though it had no reason to be. It had a strange anatomy to it, beset as it was by blight, and what were once limbs were now arteries.
I am writing this final entry for those who find our ship at port, or derelict upon the black waves, more still now than in a mug on a desk. As I write, I hear the sound – the voice, now I know it – next time and I feel my fur inundate with the stench exuding from the crate in the back of the hold. It is next to me, and it is glorious. When I gaze up at it, I feel its call, its fitful pulse and its pull upon my will. It knows me. It knows I am not the captain of this vessel. It knows the captain died long ago, and that I am of Stagsdale stock.
I know that when I stop writing, I shall disrobe and join myself within it. I am hornless and I am soft, and I shall be a product the envy of all other men, my flesh shall beat as one inside the being’s heart, transmuted from so much rotten flesh.
I shall transcend the confines of my species.
Reading about an entire crew of people rotting and dying of sickness while sick is fucking surreal.

I think the only place where Judy gets along with someone else after Judy fucks his shit up is here, everywhere else Nick forgives her off of "You saved me". Hell, even if you consider WildeSkye and WildeMeyer fics that spawned off this place, most are still WildeHopps with a third guy existing solely to put drama.

It feels like very little was done to make this more than just "horror story that happens to be in Zootopia"
>>6034187
So what do we do until then for TT?
>>6034347
I'm sorry anon, I tried to make it feasible to be happening in the same world, but the ship setting made for less tie in possibilities. I had meant to tie in more references to the city proper, but length was an issue.
I will endeavor to find what it is that makes a story quintessentially Zootopian.
>>6033636

The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that the architecture integrates species-specific and inter-species technology and accommodations. Such as Hippo water-escalators, or multiple sizes of seating in a restaurant.

Or you could wait until Sunless Skies comes out.
>>6034451
Sunless Sea. It was a little too slow for my liking.
>>6034477
That's hard to do on a boat in the 60s, but my understanding was that a given vessel would be classed for a specific size grouping of mammals, and that there would be little need to overtly reference what would have been humdrum to the characters.
I also imagined the time period as being before society had perfected cohabitation of huge and tiny mammals in ever structure/vehicle/etc.
Maybe I just made some mental conclusions readers didn't make, so I'll be more careful next time.
>>6034528

My conclusion was that Zootopia was made with all species in made from the start. Instead of simply being for both Lions and Zebras first. Then expanding as more species joined.
Maybe you could even make a "Anthropological?" study of Zootopia where you can tell when something was built post or pre-rodent immigration.

>He hadn’t seen her in years. Didn’t know how she would react
>Suddenly doorbell rings
>With a deep breath, Nick answers the door
>Becky standing there
>She still doesn’t look the best from that afternoon
>At least she had found some clothing though, not just a blanket
>There’s a brief pause as the two look at each other
>Suddenly Becky’s paw snaps out and lands across his face
>Nick stumbles back in surprise
>”Five years, Nick. Five years since we heard anything from you!”
>Nick rubs his cheek and straightens himself out
>”I sent money back for you and mom.”
>”Yeah. And that’s the only way we knew you were alive.”
>Nick mumbles out a “Sorry.”
>”That’s a start at least.”
>”So how’s mom?”
>”She’s doing fine. We talk at least once a week you know. By phone. She still lives in the same house. With the same number.”
>”Alright. I get the hint. I’ll… I’ll talk to her after this.”
>”Good. She misses you, you know.”
>Nick realizes the two of them have been standing in the entryway
>Moves aside to let Becky in
>Closes the door behind her
>”So Becky… Can I get you a bee-”
>Nick realizes what he was about to say by instinct, getting flustered and correcting himself
>”I mean something to drink? Water? Soda?”
>”Just water is fine.”
>Nick leads Becky to his couch to sit while he goes to get water
>He takes a few moments in the kitchen to right his head first
>Never let them see they get to you was hard when it was his sister
>Taking the two glasses of water, he heads back out and sits next to Becky
>Puts one of the glasses down in front of her

They were supposed to have made dock in Zootopia a week ago, and the crew of the ship is flushed with sickness. All members of the crew work feverishly to keep the ship working properly, but there is something deep within them all that threatens to consume them. What fate befell the lost crew? What manner of decay has stricken the captain? Does anyone else ship Mr. Hopper and Elk Captain? Find out in At Home On Board, by LovelyMayor (it turns out)!

>>6035898
There's a lot less crackle here, which could either mean the crackling in the last recording was just noise interference, or the wire wasn't fully snug in the jack.
That coiling technique is for when you're storing your cords by the way.
Since you're using a quarter inch instead of an XLR, that could explain the crackles. Noise interference and all that. I will say, if the cord is bad then there's not much you can do.
You don't need a whole mixing board. Just get a cheap USB audio interface that has at least one XLR input and an XLR cable. I like to use sweetwater.com for my audio needs. They ship very fast and they also put candy in the shipping box which always makes me smile.
>>6035707

>>6036016
>>6036061
Sweetwater is where I get my sound guy all his stuff! I'll order something from there based on his suggestion.
I'm using the USB cable that came with my Razer Seiren. I think its definitely my USB jack: when I record on my desktop, the crackle doesn't appear.
Recording further away from the computer? I'm guessing because of the snapping of my mouth? Its very annoying to me, but other than drinking lots of water and eating an apple before recording, I just gotta change the way I talk and try backing up.
>>6035707

>>6036169
>>6036012
Nah, that would be way too melodramatic, even for him. I think he's just holding on to it.
>>6036121
Actually I suggested recording away from your computer to cut down on noise interference. Again, don't really think it's an issue. Was just a suggestion.
The snapping of the mouth is unfortunately just something you need to learn to work around. I didn't really notice it in that recording though.
Don't go overboard on the audio interface. No use in spending hundreds of dollars for something like this (unless you want to of course). You should be able to find one that works for your needs at around 50 bucks. XLR cables usually run 10-30 depending on the cable
Also, does your laptop use wifi? That also could be the issue. I recommend trying a test recording with the wifi turned off to see if that fixes the issue.

4/5 chapters so far. I'm saving the last one for Halloween.
It's not Halloween without someone bullshitting a spooky folktale about the strange folk in the next town over.
>Now, Judy Hopps hadn’t thought about the place in years until her mother called. Isabella Brown, the matriarch of the old Brown burrow, went missing on Tuesday. Her truck turned up two days later, nice and neat, save for a flat tire, and parked next to the welcome sign at the edge of Beetown. It was all over the news in Bunnyburrow. No mention of it the Beetown’s tiny paper, though. Because it wasn’t news there. Because folks in Beetown, well, they know something about life.

now that, that's just f'd up. I like it.
>>6037766
Not him, but the style always came off as somewhat funny/comic/cute than what you'd use for shocking scenes.
A lot of contrasting colors, which most of the times scary scenes avoid. Dark and the light doesn't cause the shadow parts to conceal stuff for our brains to make up. Blood is a flat paint.
>>6037766
It's cartoony and not played with a straight face, at least from my perspective.
There's a lot of fanart which is basically just the characters suffering for the hell of it and it is played with a straight face. That's the edgy stuff.

seriously this is hilarious
>>6038063
Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like it was "just a cartoon" or something. It's definitely dark, as I said here >>6037459
I think people just kind of expect things to be silly or not super serious for this TT. If that had been posted during a 'normal' week it probably would've been called edgy, etc.

No. Predators in Zootopia evolved beyond doing that to other mammals. Now if you want to abuse and bully something you just get one of the spare bunnies from that come from Bunnyburrows.
>>6038351
It's a 'major' holiday, you're not even close to overdoing it.

Hello!

Where's your husband?
guess everyone is trying for dubs.
>Another lovely day begins with ghosts and gouls with greenish skin.
>So close your eyes and you will see that you've arrived at Castle /ZTG/.
>Perhaps the CCs will find a way to make their imagination work today.
>For if they loosen their creative screws they can earn themselves some (you)s.
>So welcome where it's always comfy to the castle of Trash's /ZTG/!
>Ahahaha!
Count Raccula here!
I hope you've all been enjoying TT today, with everything spooky and creepy.
Me, I've been dealing with the scariest nightmare of all, the dreaded MISSED DEADLINE!
>Aieee!
But I still wanted to drop by and share in the day's festivities, so let's all pull up a big bowl of candy and hand out some fun-size (you)s to all the trick-or-treating CCs!
>>6031440
Great Vincent Price's Ghost!
That looks amazing, and I don't think I'd ever expect my ghoulish mug to make it to the OP, much less a TT OP.
"Fang" you very much!

Aww! What a cute little Elvira costume!
What, you expected another Snooki joke? Hell no! Elvira got me through puberty with her ridiculously sexy attire.

And on that last panel; you're never too old for Halloween.
NEVER.

Aww! What adorable costumes!
"Sexy Witch"... "Sad Vampire"... And-- Oh, what a lovely horn he has...

Don't worry about the late submission: because Halloween is an actual date, I'm sure we're gonna be spooky for a while!

Well lets be honest, most vampires are probably gay, so I felt it was better to go after the raccoon angle and let the audience fill in the blanks.
But anyways, I also have a significantly gayer costume already (pic related).

Dressing as unicorn is offensive to horses (much like Pegasus, Hippocampus and Headless Horse) but it's alright since skunks have no culture. :^)

maxine's text is too dark to see
Today I found out that 4chan is run by a malicious and absolutely incompetent lazy fuck who will literally do ANYTHING (including allowing malicious mallard ads on the site) to make 4chan profitable

Well naturally she'd want to keep you around for a while alive first.
She'd play with your mind in the beginning, hypnotizing you into thinking you're her pet, that she's your mother (just to incest you out) and things like that.
After a short while, however, she'll realize that the reason she's keeping you around is because she has feelings for you.
After which the fetishizing stuff will gradually cease and be overtaken by the romantic stuff.
(You need a writefag, though)

What I don't get is how in the fucking world did Hiro not know about the MULTIPLE MALWARE FILLED ADS the he approved to run on the site.
He is literally having the users of 4chan do his own fucking research into what ads are malicious (almost all of them on mobile)
I didn't do a TT this time, but have this instead
