Not sure what kind of bar you're setting for the writers here, some are better than the others of course but in my opinion he's one of the better ones.

I say that but i don't really hold any writers in low regard because you have to remember who we and they are. This is just a fandom for a cartoon and they are some people that do this as a hobby and as a passion, not best selling authors.

Even if hypothetically some would want to write a book and sell it, writing fanfics is not the way to do it because, among other reasons, you don't have much freedom with them as to not go OOC with the characters. So basically you can't judge any of them for that based on the fanfics they write for the show.

And that's why i, for one, never thought of your and those stories like slow or boring.
I always think of the openings as build-ups. My mind automatically goes to the "world building" as i start reading.
One of the reasons i said i liked you and others is because that's what you do. You build the foundation(character's feelings, their motives etc) and then you deliver on the payoff.
For example i remember someone saying Lori came out of nowhere with feelings for Lincoln in Stormbringer, but actually they were properly established in the 2nd chapter. So does the fault lie with the writer because the reader didn't get/remember that or was it the reader's fault?
People can be bad readers too.
