Now all the parties involved are forced to evaluate their rolls in the situation and either give up or fix it.

Ozzy has to face the consequences of shifting the blame to Remmy rather than it just being pushed under the rug when revealed.
Al has to acknowledge his own prejudices and fuck ups and face the fact that he's a hypocrite when taking offense to being slurred at when he's allowed a tenant/pack mate to basically suffer similar insults the other time
Velvet has to acknowledge that she's compromised her professional integrity because of personal relationship and has created a negative situation.
Remmy has to acknowledge that he can't keep bottling in the abuse he's taking otherwise he'll never fully integrate

The thing is, while we the readers know that Al and Velvet are a thing, Remmy doesn't, so he doesn't know the damage he's causing when he implies Al's fucking Betty. This time he is in the wrong, but once again he's genuinely ignorant of the situation.

Now, this could be fixed via some explanation of Canine Fight Club, but Remmy then followed it up by inadvertently revealing that Al was lying about his job. How's V. supposed to accept that explanation when Al's been deceiving her to her face this whole time, and everyone present has been playing along?

Now, Remmy didn't have to call him out on that, but that one's entirely on Al. He's a big enough boy to know that lies come back to bite you, and he'd be a fool to think he could keep such a brazen one under wraps forever.

At any rate, we know everyone's back on friendly terms in the future, so I imagine cooler heads will prevail, apologies will be made, and everyone will resolve this soap opera situation like adults.

Yep. What everyone understood packs to be like was based on situations (like captivity) where unrelated wolves were forced to live together and formed their own sort of makeshift-family hierarchy.

Which is actually a perfect example of what's happening in the Pack St. Apartments: a handful of unrelated wolves thrown into proximity and having to find a pecking order.

Just read the chapter and the last thread. My only opinion: Ozzy was a dick in blaming Remmy (but we don't know the situation he is in, still it was a dickish move), Remmy said too much and now Al has sort of a good reason to be irate. Still he didn't even tried to be a little humble and played the part of the alpha male the whole time. Yes, he tried to calm the situation, but always with his air of superiority, of who is in command.
Still no one in Pack Street even tried to explain how things work there to the ram, so his explosion, while excessive, was somewhat a little justified.
The only problem I see is how Weaver will reconcile this chapter with Wannabite, especially Al's behaviour.

But, as it seems to me, Al is not stupid. He knows how Remmy is. He has shown to be able to have a more friendly behaviour, one where he doesn't sit on his high throne giving orders. He should have read the atmosphere and tried to keep the waters calm with a little humility.
The only explanation for how he behaved that I can give it is that he was trying to maintain his impression of alpha after V chastised him, to seem the 'big boy', the 'one in command' in front of her eyes.
So, while Remmy's behaviour is not excusable, there is a part of blame on Al too.
The only difference between the two is that while the ram recognized his errors, the wolf has still to descend from his high throne.

I can't believe the events of the last Pack Street are even being debated as if any of it is somehow subjective.

I think far more damaging than the lie is that Remmy basically accused Al, in front of Velvet, of fucking (and possibly coercing) another woman. She seemed pretty shocked at that part.

I'm sure that the guy knew that Remmy was in the dark about what he's seeing Velvet for, but trying to make him the scapegoat for his own behavior isn't "trying to get Remmy to play along".

Ozzy deflects blame like rain from a waterproof coat.

He invites Remmy & the twins to lunch, but is short on cash. When Remmy covers for him (albeit not in the most discreet way), Ozzy says that the ram "humiliated him" in front of everyone; as if he didn't do it himself by promising more than his wallet could deliver.

Ozzy plays on the fact that Remmy's in the dark about Oz's appointments to try to get a "Get out of V Free" card by INSISTING they play a few rounds, then get lunch. And when the hammer starts to come down, he tries to make Remmy the reason that Velvet's time is wasted.

Yep, this is a difficult situation, practically everyone (except Rex) has some blame for it and someone that needs to make amend to. This creates a very complex web of conversations that needs to be done. I hope for Weaver that he has something in mind for the progression. This is one of the situations that a writer doesn't want to be into.

I said it in the post, V presence is mainly the cause for Al behaviour. With Avo it is justified but as I said Al is not stupid. He knows that Remmy is one that fights before cowering. He knows that he is foreign to Pack Street's customs. He still tried to play the chief in command card.
He didn't show humility when V found out he hadn't told Remmy, it was simply smart behaviour to not try to shit up the situation even more. He didn't took the blame, the blame was on him all along, he simply decided to not do like Ozzy and try to shift on the ram.
Sure Remmy fucked up bad, but Al being all high and strung, trying to command everyone only because the deer was there, didn't help.

I feel that Ozzy is a mirror, thematically. He provides a reflection and a new viewpoint on Remmy-as-narrator that we don't get otherwise. He throws into question everything Remmy thinks he knows.

Remmy thinks he's the poor put-upon sheep being shoved around, but Ozzy sees him as the one acting like a bully. Remmy sees Ozzy wasting his time with a con job at the Bug Burga, Ozzy sees Remmy humiliate him in front of the crowd. And we see it again with the basketball game.

We know Remmy is an unreliable narrator. He's literally hallucinated in the past! Ozzy is giving us another look at the world, and I don't think the discrepancy between his viewpoint and ours is supposed to be "Ozzy is a big liar". I think it's that there's another side to a story we think we're seeing objectively.

When Remmy blows off Ozzy at the BB and pays for the meal instead, Ozzy's reaction is clearly hurt, and Remmy barely notices. Personally, I think he made more a show of paying for the meal and pointing out Ozzy's shortcomings than he'd admit.

But the point of all this is that where this chapter's concerned, I think Ozzy is definitely using Remmy as a scapegoat, so to speak. But he also only says it's because of Remmy, never that it's Remmy's FAULT. Ozzy obviously knows that Remmy doesn't know about his appointment, otherwise he wouldn't have attempted to skip it with him. So maybe he just assumed if he could make this about a guy who didn't know any better, no one would be blamed. If Velvet knew that Remmy was in the dark, his whole "gosh I just got caught up in the basketball game" story would have been a blameless one.

To Ozzy's credit once things go to shit he readily jumps into the meeting he tried so hard to avoid just to try to break up the fight a little and get people some breathing room. Not a big deal for us maybe, but quite a sacrificial gesture from him.

It's going good, been trying to only take my pills when I need them because I'm terrified of getting hooked, so not numb all the time.

There hasn't been much swelling after the first day, but the liquid diet sucks, not supposed to eat solid foods until a few days after the tooth is removed. I can't wait until I can have a burger.

Hey. An Anon with chronic pain here who's been on everything from Cymbalta to Vicodin to Morphine over the years: so long as you take the pain meds while you're actually in pain, you'll be okay.
This includes preventive doses, so the pain doesn't come back strong.
It's when you're taking the pills when you don't have any pain that you start getting into addiction.
Re-assess if you're still hurting from time to time, and don't be afraid to take your pills if you are. Pain puts great stress on the body, and slows healing.
