Had the chance to sit down and go over your feedback and write out a proper post.

I'm really glad you found the read through useful! And I hope this post is, too!

I think the doe is made a threat right from the get go with the intro scene that brings us to the concrete building on the hill. The information the reader is given is that the doe is built like a brick house, like a martial arts movie star, who is punching this stone structure and causing it to shudder, and that Mark is concerned about this. Perhaps consider having this be a brief flash of concern that passes through Mark-- an instance caught in time-- that leads to him shaking off his fears after remembering that there is indeed a natural order (which he will soon learn will be useless against his 'opponent').

I like the idea that he's 'losing' himself again when she starts to rough him up-- its consistent with his actions if the reason he's chasing the doe was because he was 'provoked'. Seeing his civility break down will capture this moment: perhaps consider having some repeated or semi-repeated description used to signal the reader that the same sort of loss of control is happening in both situations-- his ears could clasp back, his upper lip could curl, he could hear a telltale pounding in his ear, etc. You can even be very pronounced and repeat word for word a phrase, just to remind the reader of the previous section of the story.

Concerning portraying them as 'broken' rather than 'creepy': for the narrator, that's done by giving him more of a declared change in his attitude. His narration remains semi-consistent throughout the story. I might suggest a very bold change in format when he does 'lose' himself, and nothing says 'change' like a change in paragraph structure.

Go wild with paragraph breaks.

Write sparse details.

Use punctuation in this section not used elsewhere; semicolons are great because they roughly join ideas.

Use the text itself to show change.

Now, for the doe? I think the way to show she's broken is to show her cracks. She's pretty 'perfect' in the story: every action she takes, she accomplishes with gusto. How do you show that she's more hobbyist than professional? Perhaps consider giving her a moment where she's not so secure in her position. You already have a great moment where she reminds Mark that he has the option to safeword, and then she stretches to get ready for more. Give her some sort of signal that she's not all whole: trouble catching her breath from the excitement of the moment, an uncontrollable giggle on every exhale, a furious blush and a wavering smile, something to show that she's off balance. Otherwise, she seems too in control to be considered suffering from something like you've described.

Last suggestion: try lifting the Gideon line before he scratches Judy as close to word-for-word! I always say its better to be too liberal than too conservative, because its better that you hammer the point too hard than the point get missed. Allow for another read through to see if you need to pull back after that!

I've been trying hard to learn to drink coffee better and drink better coffee, so I took the day Saturday to try and make coffee in a french press. Ground the beans by hand, looked up online how to pour the water and how long to keep it in, and poured myself a glass. I was pretty proud, and even gave a cup to my roommate!

And she started laughing.

See, my roommate, the artist on my project, she's got... a competitive side to her.

So she made coffee. Washed the grinder, took out a bag that she kept in her room (not in our shared larder), and used her own french press (which is different than mine-- its metal, not glass. Dunno if that makes a difference).

She poured me a cup, and that coffee was probably the tastiest thing I've ever drank in my life.

And then she spent the rest of the day lording over me about how she knows more about coffee. Yeah, of course you do! You've been doing this for longer than me! And apparently you have a secret stash!

I've beaten Long War and she hasn't, so it evens out.

French pressed coffee can be tricky.
Used to make it all the time when I worked at Starbucks, and it was perfect, but I had the benefit of an industrial grinder with an accurate setting for the right grind style for a press, filtered water, a scale to measure the perfect amount of grinds, and a digital timer.
As my father used to say; good coffee is coffee you can drink black. If you're adding cream and sugar, it's not very good.
And this stuff, you would drink it black without hesitation.
Perfect.

Skip to years later, I'm staying with family and they noted I can use their Bodum french press whenever I liked.
No scale, regular tap water, plunger-based electric grinder that you had to guesstimate if you got the right coarseness...

Any well executed material on a fandom is rare. Melodramatic or not. Maybe for TT it's been rare even on depressive themes, but outside 4chan it's still people posting sad stuff one after another trying to get some reaction. Which is fine, of course, it's what people want to do.
