His patreon is for his webcomic which is very different from having a patreon dedicated to solely TF porn. It depends what you mean by identity death. The kinds where the person loses all intelligence and just becomes a dumb animal (or worse, a non-living inanimate object) then I agree that becomes a bit of a turn-off.

But identity change... where the person is still intelligent, maybe even remembers their old life, but they have new instincts and a new personality. One of my usual favorites is that at the beginning the person didn't want the change, but by the end they're totally into it.

It's funny but the alternative, where the person wants the TF and gets to transform without trouble, it comes off as... wish fulfillment. Like Gillpanda's Red Chair Appointment comics. It's too convenient. It needs more intrigue, more conflicts!

I love transformation and shapeshifting. As a concept it is ripe for thematic and philosophical exploration. I love stories where the transformation of the body also acts as a catalyst for the mutation/evolution/adaptation of the mind.

The transformed person being unwilling yet finding a resonance with their new being is what really makes it for me. It is as, as a result of the transformation their mind is put in between a rock and a hard place, and they are forced to adapt for the wellbeing of their consciousness, only to find that they enjoy being the newly transformed being that they have become.

Also worth pointing out is that the Patreon for the comic is more the writer's thing than Naga's. Naga does the art but there's some kind of Stockholm thing going on with Thom, the writer, who collects all the money and controls access to the website. Apparently, he has it so locked down "because of hackers" that Naga couldn't even update it on his own, anymore, which is why he went literally years between updates. Since starting a Tumblr, he's been updating regularly.
