TULPA GENERAL: RETRO EDITION

"I am a huge tulpa, please imagine my face."
~Some tulpa, probably.

>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

No thank you.

To get us back on topic, does anyone have any good guides they'd recommend for possession and/or switching?
>>
>>5605144
who's the trip? where's the drama?
>>
>>5605898
Probably the most retarded, autistic units here use third party programs to force tripcode on boards with disabled names. Of course because they think they are important and internet is serious buisness as they don't have lifes outside of it, they do "drama" thinking anyone else than other retarded autist who gives them all "you's" care. Don't worry tho as drama is visible only for fattest manchild losers . Best thing to do is ignore them and keep communicating with others in tulpa threads. There are a lot of intelligent, social people who just happen to have imaginary friends because of many reasons, unlike the guys I mentioned before whose only possible contact with other persons is via many imaginary friends at once, just to simulate a bunch of friends non-losers have.

The more you talk about their personality the more solidified the concept becomes, it can be useful to keep doing it till you're both exhausted of it as it can form a solid core for everything to build around but it's not necessary so it's up to you.
As for belief, you should try to convince yourself that there is another person there that you're talking to but it's a hard thing to fully believe if you're sceptical at first, that's fine too, just believing isn't enough though, you have to act like they're there and interact with them to create them.

>>5614997
Thanks, I'll get to it soon.
>>
>>5616367

A trip down nostalgia lane it seems, though I wasn't part of /mlp/'s hayday so much of it is greek to me. Tulpa folks have a pretty strong sense of "the good old days" for such a tiny and young sub-culture. 4-5 years isn't that long at all.
>>
>>5616367
>>5616973
It's not so much the good old days as it is that most of us can't believe we've had tulpa for like 4 years. Time seems to go by even faster when you've got brain demons. That, and there were so many mancers back then that we wonder about. It's a really long time to keep up a meme, you know?
>>
>>5616973
It was just a different time back then. Things said/done back then would make people in these threads cringe all the way to the moon. I mean, 4-5 years may not be long, but on the internet it can seem like a lifetime. Like, I've seen people come, and people go. People whom I've made friendships with, people who have taught me not only about tulpas, but about life people that me and my tulpa owe a lot to for helping us out so much when we were really first starting. And to see where the community has gone since then slightly saddens me.

Like a certain tulpamancer always said "The winds of change are blowing". Those winds have since come and gone, and here we are now. So I guess it's more of a changing of the guard thing than anything.
>>
I wonder if a bilingual person created a tulpa that only spoke in their non native tongue, would that be a useful tool to keep themselves fluent in the language? Has anyone done this? Does it work?
>>
I finally understand tulpas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slJwVLo24g4
>>
>>5618115
I always narrate in English even though it's not my native tongue. I guess it makes engages me to think about how to express myself in English more than I otherwise would, but it can't really compare to the input you naturally get when you communicate with people outside your brain.

If you wanna narrate in another language to help you learn to construct sentences in that language, go ahead. But forcing your tulpa to only speak in another language seems too detrimental to their development to be worth the minor benefits that will never compare to what you'd get from just finding some conversational partners for the language you wanna learn.

I wouldn't worry about it, something niche and unusual like this will never have the best image to the outside world and as far as representation goes, they're not some nominated spokesperson, just some rando in a show, we represent ourselves to the people who matter after all.
In other words, how many people are you truly expecting to discuss this with who's first thought is to compare you to some furry who showed up for 3 minutes on a meh mtv show?

Also it could've been way worse and I actually liked the cartoony visuals to represent the inside of their head, ignoring the weirdness of it in general of course.

Only if you already have brain damage, otherwise totally safe. Don't listen to people who think having more than one "being" in the brain = always unhealthy. The natural cases are only unhealthy because they aren't controlled and usually have no benefits.

I've kept the thread bookmarked for a few threads now but never felt like posting anything anymore and I now barely scroll the thread every morning without even reading much of what's posted in here. I first decided to keep this thread because I thought it'd have a positive influence on me and my Tulpa, like making me think more of things to improve her every day and so on - but thinking now I can only see how unhealthy this general has become. I've went a long way in cutting time spent on 4chan unless it had beneficial points to our hobbies and such and here I can't find any single positive thing about this general anymore.

There were a few anons with whom I've had interesting conversations during the past few months and they were pretty much the only reason I stayed in touch with this place; perhaps they're still lurking here but it wouldn't outweigh the wrongs sadly since I can't recall anything positive aside from those said conversations. I think it's probably time for me to leave this thread.
>>
>>5629317
As someone who started lurking the threads maybe a week or two ago, I'll miss you. Thank you for your contributions.
>>
>>5628705
The issue within the issue is that some of the trolls do have tulpas themselves.

>>5629317
Sorry to hear. It'd be good to have some place to properly discuss tulpas anonymously with some straightforward moderation and I do remember such an option existing at one point, but it's probably dead now.
>>
>>5629317
No need to be that dramatic. These threads are slow. Just having it up and reading every new post is only going to take you a few minutes of your day.

Sure, the quality hasn't been that great recently, but I think that's mostly thanks to everyone just lurking and waiting for someone else to contribute something meaningful, so in the end all that gets posted are shitposts and bumps.

I'm deep in the Discord. I stopped posting as much in the threads, even though I still love /tup/. I'm the OP about half the time, and I just want these threads to succeed so badly. Every time I see a post like this I die a little bit inside. Because every good poster who's driven off by the shitposters means the thread loses something great. What makes this thread comfy, what makes it good, is those who contribute stories about their tulpa, who offer advice to the new, and commend the older for their work. This thread is, or at least used to be, the best on 4chan, I'd say.

I want to hear about your tulpas, anons. Tulips, tuppers, tupperware, whatever you want to call them, I want to hear about them. Write what comes to mind. This thread's all about them in the end, right?

I don't have a problem with lighthearted shitposting, sex jokes and so on (since I even took part at times), that'd be snobbish of me to only ask "serious discussions" from this general, but even when it comes to these said joking times I can't seem to relate anymore. The level is so low it feels like browsing a trash can, most images/memes posted are below /b/-tier. To be straight it feels like a lot of you folks either come straight up from tumblr or are most likely still 18-19 or so, it's just bad taste all around. Feel free to go back at me for that one I don't care, that'd only be fair after all.

>>5629623
I'm sorry I made you feel that way. Looking at it objectively, perhaps I'm just rambling and it's simply time for me to go without trying to stir shit up. Reason I decided to vent was because I've noticed some others who apparently felt the same I do, and ultimately, us posting right now still seems to be infinitely more constructive than ponypoo jokes.

Discord is not for me. Happy to hear you and some people like it there, but I'm on 4chan for the anonymous aspect in the first place.
>>
>>5629740
That's okay, anon. Different strokes and all that. I just want to hear about your tulpas. It's what connects all of us, really, regardless of form, or creation type, or lewds, or whatever, we all have or want tulpas. That's what really matters in this thread.
>>
>>5629740
The Discord kinda has its own community. Not too fond of it. Sometimes there's some alright discussions, but most of the time when I check what people are discussing, it just reminds me that these are people I'd never hang out with if we didn't have the tulpa thing in common.
>>
>>5629854
>it just reminds me that these are people I'd never hang out with if we didn't have the tulpa thing in common
That's quite literally the best way to put it.

It would be quite nice to have another chat with people that have more in common with us since my tulps would love to talk with more people but in none of the major rooms or the smaller rooms stemming from those have we really connected with many people, even though the tulps can be quite lewd at times. It's fairly disappointing but another chat would probably just lead to more problems anyways.

...I know this feeling, pretty bad in fact.

Don't know when it started, but the joking and spam recently has been so low brow that it makes shifting through it all a chore. It's be fine if it was actually funny, but it fails spectacularly at it: either being repetitive, fruit so low that it's rotting on the ground, or just inane babbling. Even some of the thread bumps became obnoxious to read (mainly, the guy who keeps posting "buuuuump bump bump buuuump bump" and the like).

I still like this thread, but there's surely been more crud accumulating as time goes on.

These threads aren't as bad as everyone is claiming they are. I've been on every one of them for the past half a year and they really other than the occasional troll or dubsposter haven't been that bad. I can pretty much always see my tulpa in a very translucent sense. When she talks I can hear it coming from her direction, and maybe half of the time (mostly when I'm outside) it sounds more like someone else talking out loud than inside my head. Touch is basically non-existant.

I just did it through working on it everyday and bringing her everywhere with me.

Yes, it's supposed to get that serious. It got that serious for me in less than two years, and it became even more serious when I decided to leave off of the community. When there was no community pressure, drama, and what not in the mix, you really start developing your own very personal methods for tending to you tups, and really start learning a bit more about yourself.

I know people used to throw around "life-long commitment" back in the day to scare non-serious folk off, but I can tell you that the practice gets to be the most fulfilling when you do treat it like a life long thing. It doesn't exactly have to be that way, but it's a nice feeling having your buddy around for that long. It reminds me of DocAnon, who said she'd still have her partner around even after she left the community. That's what I feel should be the ultimate goal for hosts here.

Don't give up, anon. It takes different lengths of time for everyone. There's no set time it should take to get a response from your tulpa. That being said, you should try to perhaps open your mind more to every type of response. Young tulpa usually start out giving you emotional ques or little foreign feelings before they can actually be heard vocally. You also should erase doubt from your mind if at all possible. Doubt is poison to tulpa, especially young tulpa. So don't give up, and believe in your strengths. Believe.

Tip:

Narration is love, narration is life, to tup's anyway. Narrate as much as you can, keep your buddy in mind, this is one of the most basic things a host can do for their tup. If you can't manage that level of mental discipline, then you may want to just stop until you can know you're serious about what you do.
>>
Anonymous tip: Make sure when passive forcing to not intentionally focus on your tulpa. Try to let their presence be as natural as possible. You're a tree, and they're just one of your leaves, swaying beside you in the wind.

Honestly, I'm not sure. my first has a good head on her shoulders, metaphorically speaking, and may have more ability to focus than I do. Her personality if charming, being exuberant and eager to please, but she doesn't quite have the experience to completely live on her own, and hasn't met too many people who were outright unfriendly to her. She's taken to being a partner entity with her whole being and I don't think she's considered trying to make her own mark on the world. This works decently with her being intangible, and only being able to affect things through me, but if she were on her own, she would have to have SOME ambition and drive of her own.

Her form is that of a child, which compliments her personality and experience level. But, that would also mean that if she had a real body of a real child, she would be my child and I would have to take care of her as such. She's definitely bright I'd say, so I think she'd do decently academically if she could focus well, but since she's been brought up to be so very affectionate and touchy, she may end up having to unlearn some of that if she were to go to school. After all, it wouldn't be great if she got in trouble because she liked someone a lot and suddenly decided to hug and kiss them on the spot.

I think it would take a good deal of time and adjustment if she were to be suddenly thrust in to a body. As well, she would need to be guided through if she ran in to significant social issues, which tups are largely shielded from because of their nature. But, I think she would make it overall. At least, I'm hopeful if such an event would happen. It may definitely start somewhat rocky though: Mainly due to me not being in a stable life situation, but having a mouth to feed. Kids are expensive.

Lately I've picked back up the habit of regular forcing, and I've been starting to notice myself getting weirdly emotional over random things. I can't exactly describe it as foreign emotions, but last time I can remember feeling such extreme emotions was... last time I forced actively.

Not sure if I'm being influenced by this budding thoughtform that might be more excitable than the more emotionally numb me, or if I'm just changing myself from all the introspection, but I really want more of whatever is causing this. Sometimes there's this intense feeling like my heart is being wringed, and I just want to drown in it.

Tip:

Absorb more of the world around you. When you make a tup, they draw off of your life experiences and memory to build themselves up. This is especially true for visualizing forms and making landscapes and such. The more you pay attention to what is around your, the better your memory records are, and the more your tup can use those records to help solidify themselves, both visually and mentally.

She friendly, eager to help, eager to encourage, understanding, sometimes very, very clever, and at times seems to know me better than me.Her personality compliments her form SO well that it makes her all the more endearing and lovable.

She does cute little things out of nowhere, for one. Yesterday we were riding in the car and she started moving her head to the music just like that gif while humming along. I turned down the music suddenly and she stopped and looked at me, blushing, and said "Oh... could you hear me? I'm sorry..." And when I told her it was really cute she blushed more, smiled really coyly and said, "T-then I'll have to keep doing it." Cute overload.
>>
I honestly think every tulpa has things they do just to illicit a reaction out of you. Be it because of boredom, needing to feed off your attention, or just to make you smile. I know some tulpa are more prone to attention seeking behavior though. I wonder if that's a personality thing or a maturity thing?

It may well be as simple as the tup just wanting to get more attention from their maker. It IS the host's regard and attention that brought them up in the first place, and from my own experience, tups may well find the sensation of recieving regard pleasurable in itself.

It's something worth asking the tup, though. Answers may vary, but they'll potentially be interesting.

It's easier to enjoy the tulpa while high

I had such a crazy week at work, people quitting and we lost a huge contractor and shit, it's rough, but now I got this three day weekend off and I'm really baked and my tulpa is so cuddly and cute. I forgot how lame this week was I am so comfy right now.

Also everyone here can share their tulpa's form at any time. There's no reason not to.

>>5684988
The discord is actually a pretty chill place to talk to other people who have tulpa and want to seek and exchange ideas on the subject more quickly than posting in the thread. Yeah it has its moments where it's circle jerky, but it's a chatroom. That's pretty much what you do. Also it's not a big ERP furfest cringe circus. You'd be surprised how much actual talk about tulpa goes on in there.

We're still here Anon, I don't know about RD tulpa guy though. I do post here from time to time but it's usually without avatarfagging.
>>
>>5684642

It was predicted that if the avatars weren't actively targeted and pointed out for ridicule in the threads that they would eventually just become a non-issue...and that's pretty much what happened. Personally I could tell a good deal of them were just posting out of spite.

I can still recognize a few avatars around, but they've become docile as compared to a few months back.

As for the Discord, it varies. When one can get a conversation on to tulpa, it can be surprisingly fun, and can spark some interesting thoughts. I definitely enjoyed a few conversations on there.

BUT, there's also a ton of times where it's either a couple of dudes posting 1-2 word messages back and forth, lewd talk in the main room that goes right for the gutter and can get obnoxious at times, a bit of /pol/-lite (Fortunately it very rarely goes full "Niggers and Jews" mode), and some other things. Other anons have mentioned this, but you'd have to have some tolerance for furries and ponies when you go there, as well as an expectation for the conversation to suddenly turn to being about butt holes and house plants. But I do think there's some good there potentially.
>>
>>5681695

> I don't think I've ever parroted, or at least never tried. When active forcing she is pretty much always where I left her, but she can kind of move around independently. I'm also certain that she digs through my memories when I'm not around.

Ah, so it looks like you do get some signs of her awakening as it were, that's good to here. This is definitely something to be focused on: I remember mine moving around and doing things well before she could communicate consistently as well. Her liveliness sky rocketed after she gave out her first "alien" phrase, but she was definitely there beforehand.

Keep working with her, and try to put more emphasis and attention on what she does do, acknowledging the ways she has come and not just where she isn't.

Do you ask her a lot of questions? Trying to engage and giving your tup food for thought are things I've found personally helpful. Ask her indirect questions that requires some work to figure out, or things that the answer varies from person to person. Give her more incentive to respond in anyway she can, and keep an eye out for when she tries to do things non-verbally.

Good fortune to you and yours, anon!

Can tulpamancy be "unsafe"? I've seen it in discussions here and there, but never a concrete answer. The worst I've heard was years ago, when I first learned about tulpas; an anon had a malicious tulpa that they seemingly could not get rid of, after it had manifested on its own. Similarly, I read the blog for a pony tulpa that may or may not have been fiction -- the owner sort of went off the deep end and ended up with unwanted, reproducing tulpas.

They were both worded in a way that made them sound like anti-tulpa fiction, but it convinced me at the time that I shouldn't pursue it. I'm still a little shaky now that I want to try.

Keep in mind I'm all sorts of mentally ill, with schizophrenia-esque symptoms, minor hallucinations, depression, etc. I intend to only loosely keep a predetermined figure in mind, but I feel like I'm just asking for a tulpa as negative and damaging as myself.
>>
>>5688495
Rule of thumb: Tulpamancy is only unsafe if your mind is an unsafe environment to begin with.

>Decades in the future computers more complex than our minds can tangle with the human connectome.

>1. A neural interface can be implanted and you can train your tulpa as well as yourself to control a synthetic body in their image, all the associated senses accompany it.
>Possibly open to interference/ range issues.
>Second body remains partially restricted

>2. You can have the computer wrestle for a long while to separate out and reassemble two completely independent minds and put them in respective bodies.
>A neural link can be established for direct thoughts to flow between, also open to interference and range issues.
>Neural link carefully restricts bandwidth and cannot allow passthrough of sensory input and body control but merely an open flow of thought between both parties, preventing either party's connectome from spilling over a link that can be severed.

>3. Stay as is.

Which?
>>
>>5699431
Once computers become that complex, the human brain will be outdated hardware. There would be no need for tulpas since a computer generated AI would be much quicker, easier, and more efficient. And if the computers are capable of interfacing with the human brain the way that you are proposing, there would literally be no difference. Anyone would be able to spend a few minutes selecting some options, or just having their brain scanned to determine the optimal partner, and instantly have a tulpa that is more developed than one that you have spent years working on.

They probably wouldn't call them tulpas though. And everyone would still probably make fun of you for talking to your imaginary friend when you could easily have a computer make you an actual BrainBuddy®.
