I feel sad a little bit knowing that in the nearly 50 years since the original Jungle Book animation... 50 years, this is the best we have in terms of hypnosis? And because of that reasons, any time I turn anywhere it's always with the snake or rainbow eyes or hissing. People, commissioners, and artists alike can't seem to break the mold and try anything different. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot, but I personally always preferred the "glazed" or "50 yard stare"...

The Disney ones are the only ones where Kaa is the villain. He was never Mowgli's enemy in the book. They were friends and Kaa taught him a lot too. He's actually the one who saved Mowgli from the monkeys. Hell, Disney is also the reason Kaa has rainbow hypno eyes. He actually dances in the book to hypnotize and Mowgli/humans are immune to it.
